Reward Points Problem

I'm mostly worried about not getting the right amount of points.

They gave me 27 in beta, i should've gotten 38. So i'm gonna lose several of my rewards i already have.

I honestly do not approve of such cool kit being limited solely by time. I'm a Veteran, sure...but I'd like *everyone* to have a shot at the cool equipment. This is City of Heroes and Villains, not WoW; looking good and having great characters is what we are best at and should *remain* best at.

It's not like it gives +1 to Spider Poking or anything.
Agreed. I'm not a fan of costume pieces beyond a small amount of vet time (The wings being over a year of vet time was something I always felt was wrong... clearly they don't hold the same opinion as ours though).
Yeah, I'm not a fan of such things being gated, in general, but absolutely not into them being years away. I think it'll take around 3 years under the new system (without extra points from purchases). However, it's going to take me four years (about a year from now) for me to get this new fancy set that everyone is so excited about.
Oh well!

Agreed. VERY agreed.
Agreed very much so.
When they first mentioned rotating rewards... I mentioned that I was sure they were not referring to rotating costume pieces out (even just temporarily). Obviously, I found out a bit later that I was wrong!

It really makes no sense (Unless it is entirely about a money grab NAO in order to grab those extra tokens before those items disappear... which... I'm not even going to comment on).

Anyway... I'm veering away from the original topic, I suppose.
And... I'm not interested in dwelling on the negative.

Also... zero negativity thrown at Zwill the messenger!
Not even Techbot is tempestuous enough to shoot the messenger... Maybe he'd etch a reply message into your skin with a laser... but he knows better than to shoot the messenger!

Well, I will accept the same insanity that made a PvP recipe worth 30 Hero/70 Empyream merits as the reason.

What the FrigginTaserHell is the difference? This new system is so friggin confusing that I don't even know what I'm getting, much less "need" to purchase.

Having seen the Celestial set, I really don't think you're missing much. I'd hold out for IDF, if I were you. Even without the overbig gloves, it's still most polished set to come out of Freedom, and it goes well with a variety of themes.

Read the Announcement. Z says straight out in there:

Our original design, and what we’ve been sharing, is that VIP players who purchased multi month subscription plans would be awarded all Paragon Reward Tokens at the time of purchase.
This is poor. If Paragon didn't KNOW that was the way it was going to work, then they shouldn't have been "sharing" it as a certainty with players. This is real money stuff here, not virtual currencies, and anything dealing with subscribers' wallets should be treated cautiously. I hope anyone that changed their sub to get those tokens can still change back, or get refunded.

Glad I read this post before tomorrow. 12-months was going to be my first purchase, but that's changed now.

I feel for your disappointment, but thanks for the heads up.
This is me as well. I'll stick with my current subscription.

Paragon Reward Tokens are used on the Paragon Rewards Program. Paragon Points are used on the Paragon Market.

I just want everyone to stop calling tokens "points". They're not points. They're tokens. If we clean up our language, then we don't stand a chance of confusing each other and the incoming newbies.

To ask the question that I don't think has ever been directly answered (that I saw, anyway), and mostly just for clarification purposes: The Celestial Set will eventually come back, yes? The phrase "rotate out" and references to revolving rewards implies that they will return at some point after some other new group of VIP rewards is rotated out in turn.

But the part about giving out warnings so that people can scramble to pay their way to the top is a bit disconcerting, since it gives the opposite impression.

Regardless, I'll once again repeat my own personal displeasure at limited time costume sets of any kind. Especially when Celestial is split into three parts. I'd hate to get caught with only 1/3 or 2/3 of the set.

Honestly why does it have to be VIP tier 9 why not just have a VIP tier that you can get the stuff since they are getting rotated you make a choice to go up the main tiers or get the limited time only items.

They said in beta that the Tier 9 VIP rewards will come back, though they never actually said HOW they would come back. Either rotating back in or as a store purchase was the playerbase assumption.

I have a solution, let us buy sub time from the paragon market with paragon points. $5 is 400PP so just make it 1200pp for a month of sub time that way we can get all our tokens up front by buying Paragon points since there is no tech issue with that. Call it a 1 month vip license.

This is my big issue here as well, except that I already paid for another year of sub time based on this misinformation (I'm being generous here by not calling it a lie, point blank).

And refunds? Yeah right. The only refund I've ever gotten for an MMO subscription was from a game that got permanently shut down, and even that took a lot of work. It's a pipe dream to think anyone will get their $140 back because of this, sad as that may be.

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
Code:
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30))
Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

You will be able to obtain the Tier 9 awards after they've been cycled out. More on the specifics for that later, but rest assured they will not be one time availability.

I'll say it again; we have too many currency systems in this game. While I understand almost all of it, it's really hard to explain to someone who doesn't.

That said, Technobot, I'd gladly give you my celestial set if I could. I like my heroes spandexy or street clothed.

You get a token for every $15 spent, but I'm not sure how they got 8 out of it...$100/15 is 6 and some change, so adding in the token for the first time purchasing points, that grants 7 tokens, not 8.

I am curious as to how long it will be before rotation?

Hopefully not before I can rack up 6 more points. I'm not the biggest fan of the set, but there are some pieces that intrigue me, and would like to have them just because.

Also, the forum logout bug is back and worse than ever. You guys really need to fix that.

Ah okay. I was wonder if that took in the bulk discount and was actually listed somewhere. Cheers.

On Beta, the $100 point package gives 1600 bonus points, for 9600 total points which would be 9600 / 1200 = 8 tokens.

I've yet to see any information implying that tokens will be doled out based on the total value of points rather than the actual amount of money spent buying them.

Expecting a token from bonus points is like expecting one from your accrued stipend points, which we already know won't happen.

I believe that the token for first purchase is for Free players becoming Premiums, not for VIPs.

Probably because it is a perk for VIPs and not any premium who has spent enough cash (or has enough Vet time) to acquire enough tokens to fill the tier 9 slots.

Just a possibility, mind you.
