I'd rather they did this right than rush things. Believe me, I have seen what happens when they rush things.
They usually let a new Issue have a period of "open beta" for a few weeks before it launches. I don't think it's ever mattered whether that open beta took place on the Beta servers or the Test servers. The important part is that the Issue has had a chance to be openly tested by anyone regardless of which physical server it's been on. In this case Issue 21 has already been in open beta for many weeks now.

I'm confident they're going to do their best and keep the "rushing" to a minimum. But at this point I'm pretty sure they aren't going to bother moving it to the Test server before they launch it live. What would be the point?

Historically speaking they have almost never launched an Issue on a Thursday or Friday. The one time they did (way back for like Issue 1 or 2) didn't turn out very well. Based on the problems they've been having with this Issue I figure it launching today or tomorrow is even LESS likely.

As I said a few posts ago the earliest it'll launch now is probably the 13th, and even that is fairly questionable at this point. Were I you I probably wouldn't count on needing Friday -or- Monday off at this point.

If it takes that long stick a fork in us. X.X

Honestly, even if it does launch on Monday...I wouldn't take the day off solely for that. For a release this major, expect maintenance, whatever day it starts, to last into the late part of the afternoon.

Fortunately I get the day off no matter what, it's just deciding which day. If I knew Freedom VIP head start was going live on either day, I'd plan accordingly.

If planning for what this game does is the only concern you have then I'd pick Monday to take off. Like I said I don't think it'll happen either day, but at least Monday is probably a tiny bit more likely than Friday at this point.

Definitely was issue 2. It brought with it a weekend of the game being almost unplayable due to crashes AND a way too overpowered Rularuu Invasion happening at the same time.

I'm hoping that it'll launch after September 22nd.

My next veteran rewards come on the 29th. I wonder if I could convince anyone over there to round up.

I think the people that were working for NCSoft Game Support at the time and responding to petitions are still curled up in a fetal position, gibbering wildly and crying.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I think October 12th (next full moon after Sept 12) is more likely.

Why? Because this gives NCSoft time to roll out the head-start (probably near October 1st), provide ample notice (as promised), and gives time for the free months to roll off that tons of people (likely) picked up during the Freedom sale, when CoH was only 2 bucks and came with a free month script.

Speaking as one of those incoming freebies, it makes sense for them to try and eek out at least 1 month's subscription cost out of us before they give us the option to go F2P, or continue paying.

Plus, that would put the release on a Wednesday, giving them ample time to fix any major ****-ups before the weekend.

I find it interesting that, of all things, Firefox didn't try to auto-correct "****-ups."

I second this.

This. Just put us out of our misery waiting.

I think most people are ready enough for Freedoms launch that "ample" can mean 30 minutes before downtime. So that we may make the necessary arrangements, be it call out of work, pile unstable stacks of junk food on the desk, take a nap before a 24 hour blitz, or just laugh and go to work expecting the inevitable bug that will take the servers down for 12 hours.

Yeah, because everybody wants a major game change to happen in the middle of their Task Force, or right before they get their morality mission. Who likes being interrupted? I don't.

My common sense is tingling. May be completely off base here and wildly speculating but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the 30 minutes thing was not meant completely seriously. After a careful read through and multiple passes with an advanced AI language parser the results come back as "intentional hyperbole for humorous effect."

The marketing department would go bananas if they launch in Oct instead of Sept. :P

Don't forget they have brand spanking new Halloween content ready to go. So it'll have to be a week or three before Halloween, which puts it around Tuesday the 11th at the latest.

The next full moon lands on September 12th 2011.

So, make your decision, to take or not to take a day off?
Perhaps he said that simply because there is no emote where your character pulls their pants down and presents their backside.

Well, the test server updated with CoH freedom, but it's not letting me in, citing database issues...

I wonder if the Test Server is going to be using the Database that's been seeded with our past purchase history. Right now on Beta my account says I haven't purchased any booster packs or been rewarded the Vanguard Set.

When someone gets on the Test Server check if you have credit for every booster purchase you've ever made. I give you a nice scone if you do...
