Pretty sure the term "Superhero" is actually trademarked or something, which is why we have "Hero" enemies, instead of Superhero or anything...I may be wrong.

That's good, right? -
We move on with our lives. We keep City of Heroes alive in some other form, (or server emulation, if someone wants to risk that). We show NCsoft it was a mistake to close the game, because of the loyal fans. You don't get "Revenge", you just keep living.

Jim Butcher (Of the Dresden files and Codex Alera) plays or played. His twitter is @longshotauthor

Thanks.
Thanks a lot.
He's now near impossible. It's GREAT fun. -
I've never met a player who complained about people who "build to succeed"
I have heard people complain that certain builds are unfair because they have far more potential (True or not, you decide), I have heard people complain about setups being too hard to work with (HEATs used to get this a lot), but the only time I hear people beating on "Min/maxers" is when they want to keep something that is obviously upsetting balance, and just for themselves. You may have caught a few knee-jerk reactions. -
I had some big long speech, but I will cut it down to this:
If you are defending a mechanic that can be improved in some way because the improvement will affect your build, you're acting in a self-serving manner. Calling you selfish is rude and it shouldn't happen, but that's how it is.
If you have an argument for not changing the mechanic besides "It's always been that way" and "It will affect my build", then yes, you might have a case, but otherwise, you're going to be spinning your wheels because if the mechanic can be changed to something better, it should be. Period. -

What exactly are their motivations? I've been thinking about it and I just can't figure it out. In almost all the missions I find them in, I find them tormenting or torturing other beings of Croatoa, but then suddenly we are helping Katie Hannon...

I'm in.
Global is @Firon -
Go to a PvP zone. Sit there for an hour and listen to the conversation. The venom you get there trumps anythign else you will find in the game, and I do not enjoy being a part of it. (You will find this most in RV, I've noticed Siren's Call to be a lot more civil, at least a lot of the time.)
I've also found that the type of people who PvP are the type of people I do not wish to associate with. People who have admitted to exploiting bugs for their own gain, and are happy to cause people genuine hardship (if you can call it that in a video game) over trivial, idiotic things.
It isn't pleasant, and I only PvP with friends in the arena, or when I need a badge. -
People are forgetting...this isn't yourncharacter 's origin, it's the origin of your powers...if you are a brain in a robot body, but all your powers are because you were born with psychic powers, you are mutant, not tech. If it instead comes from your brain making a pact with Stan the genie, you're magic.

Seems like brutes basically get a minor form of bruising...interesting

Quote:no, no they can't. Mutant means you were born with the ability, because of a mutation. Both Spiderman and Hulk could also be explained as Mutation origin. Their genetics/dna/whatever were altered from the "human norm" during their origin story. ).
The origin specifically says such. -
My demon MM uses hard light holograms, his demons aren't even real.

The "Purchasable" thing might just be a way to keep it locked.
Have it be purchasable, but don't have it be in the market. Bam, only the people you want to have it can have access to it -
-
Awesome.
Also, absorb seems to be a new mechanic where you steal health, and add it to your own, even over your maximum. -
No, some of the earlier lore about him was that Hamidon was specifically attacking things that were "bad for the environment".
He may well want to kill everyone, but after a Hamidon raid, I liked the idea that the situation in praetoria would mirror the one in primal, with the heroes having the upper hand, and while we can't kill him, Hamidon realizing what we can do decides to have him start "Dealing" -
I don't know if something like this has been suggested before, but here it is.
Repeatable contact: The Hamidon! (I know, I know, don't hit me)
He would be reached through the contact menu, and it's been proven that you can speak with the Hamidon (One of his missions has you talking to him through one of his mitos)
In all seriousness, even with all his insanity and evil, he has a goal that heroes can get behind on some level, protecting the earth. I think it'd be nice if heroes could work with a villain, someone completely evil, for what THEY deem is the greater good. Hamidon would lower devouring earth attacks as long as you assisted him.
Hero missions would be you destroying crey industries that are polluting, and other things like that. Obviously bad people who are causing problems for the earth, and for humanity.
Villain missions would be more attacking auto factories, hair-spray companies, that kind of thing, reveling in the destruction in return for a reward from the Hamidon.
(You could just make these a choice as opposed to hero and villain)
Rewards could include merits, of course. I was also thinking a badge that, when activated, worked like an ambrosia and an essence of the earth, or gave you a recipe to the make them.
So, thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Feel free to be honest with me, yer not gonna hurt my feelings if you don't like the idea.
Edit: I completely spaced on WHY he would bother with you. You would have him added after a defeat in a Hami raided, or if that's not feasible, when you got the "Heart of the Hamidon" badge, or equivalent", with him saying he respected your power.
