why cole is making 2 copies of duray with the last couple months of his memory gone i have no idea lol
So the clones wouldn't retain the crazy notion of continuing what their predecessor started.

Cole's character has always been an interesting one. He's a "good man", but because he made a few different decisions, and also because his world is a lot worse off than Primal is, threat wise (mostly due to the Devouring Earth there), he ended up as an Emperor and a Tyrant. He tries to do things for the best, but everyone around him tends to be evil jerks... and he's even become a bit twisted himself, actually believing his own propaganda.

But still, Cole is still a good man. Not an irredeemable villain like some of those around him (such as Mother). It wouldn't even be a huge shock if he saw the error of his ways. All he wants, after all, is peace... even if he needs to use force to attain it.

If this leads to Seedling Invasion events with Praetorian "allies" showing up I'm sending the Devs the BIGGEST Gift Basket I can find....

On another note.. what will Primal Hami's reaction be? Will he see this as an ally or an Adversary? If the latter, methinks that we are about to get caught in the biggest crossfire in the games history.....

You know...Cole really could have had some of that kind of writing a year ago. Him being a benevolent dictator work a lot better when he's actually trying to do something that comes off as moral.

Why, one for Talos Island and one for Sharkhead Island of course.

Nice.

I wonder when this invasion hits live?

So, Cole is a Vigilante and not a Villain.

I think you read that wrong.

It seems pretty clear that Duray is responsible for letting the Praetorian Hamidon loose on Primal Earth, or rather, NOW is responsible for having done so.

Seriously, didn't expect this one o.o Maybe Cole isn't the huge jerkface we've been making him out to be.
One of the storyline motif's established in Going Rogue is that the Praetorian Faction leaders are not one-dimensional, mirror-dimension, polar-opposites of the Primal Earth Signature Heroes and Villains; but rather have deeper motivations coupled with genuine likable characteristics.

Emperor Cole is a legitimate Hero of the Hamidon Wars, and on some level, he really did care for those under him. However, that care has been twisted and warped to various extremes. One of those extremes is that Emperor Cole has no problems pacifying the population through the Enriche drink. Nor does Emperor Cole have no problems with whole-sale slaughter of other Superpowers. Emperor Cole does not have problem with abducting citizens under his protection, wiping their minds, cloning them, and them forcing them into his service.

Is he as evil and as psychotic as we were lead to believe in our first encounter? Oh Hell Yes.

Every single Praetorian Faction Leader is a VILLAIN.

Not all villains have to be chainsaw wielding maniacs.

Even more to the point.. if Cole ever achieves his goal and the threat of Hami on Praetoria is removed.. he may try to 'reign in' his more crazy Praetors.. that will be a VERY ugly civil war.

Or worse, it realizes what it is truly capable of and begins evolving into what its Praetorian counterpart has become.

Or they become like a hive-mind and continue their aggressions in tandem.

Oh yes, JUST like them. An absolute bunch of weedy little daisy's that totally didn't lay waste to an entire planet.

I think the smallest of them is somewhat nastier than the Crystal Titan.

You know, more writing like this would have done a lot towards making the Praetorians seem like an actual moral grey area.

I hope that 1st Ward and any new Praetorian content is done like this. (and maybe a revamp of the more overtly evil current content)

the seed of hamidon GM is technically a praetorian DE, and i think we will see praetorian DE in the underground trial (i still have yet to run it though lol)

Ooooooo.... *grins*

Big, spiffy Seeds to fight popping up all over the place? Oh, yeah! Gimme!

(I really do like the Big Guy drifting around First Ward. Very cool model, a lot fun to go after and his sound effects are great... I wouldn't mind seeing those elsewhere at all.)

Yeah, pretty much. You get to meet a few of them in Maria Jenkins' arc, and they're basically still just the same as they were on Primal. There are a few new types on the new Underground Trial, though, IIRC, but they're mostly just slightly modified versions of the same group.

I'm new to the whole story discussion thing here, despite playing CoH for years. But someone alluded to something early in the thread that nobody has really touched on.

That short story implied, very subtly, that Cole, or someone connected to Cole, has the capability to modify memories. Who is to say that Cole didn't implant the idea in Duray's mind (omgz, inception!), of using the Hamidon Seeds - then in front of his own troops, pin the blame firming on Duray, making Cole look like the level-headed benevolent leader to those who follow him, while still getting the more murky methods of attacking Primal Earth that he wanted.

He wipes the memory on Duray, Duray never is the better to what's happened, and Cole gets to keep playing the role of of "savior", while going about it in much more evil ways.
