Anyone exercise between in-game activities?
Well, I actually logoff when I am doing my exercises. I do walking/running about 8 miles per day.
Sometimes I am lifting weights while waiting for a trial to start.

I stretch and hold some yoga positions while staring at the screen, waiting for the action to begin again.

I don't game and I don't exercise. Not complete truth but close to it (it's all the toddlers' fault). If however I had gaming sessions and I wanted to choose an exercise to do during down time, I might choose a kata (Shorin-ryu Shidokan Karate). In reality I'd probably browse the web and post in forums.

Yes here.
Usually it's a walk around the block (really) to stretch, get some air (and step away from the game. Plus I have a rather large kneaded erasure which I also use to keep the CT or carpal-tunnel away from my hands and wrists.
I've done some situps and pushups whilst waiting in the queue.
I usually do the opposite - if I have exercised I get to play!
It really is a great motivator to say - if I put in 45 minutes - I can go and play the next 2 hours.
Just a REALLY random question that popped up in my head.
Maybe you're between missions in a PUG. Perhaps someone on the TF had to run out to see what the dog is barking at or get a phone call. Whatever. But real life usually provides a few breaks here and there between beating up Hellions, you know? Does anyone exercise during this time? And if so, what works for you? |
I have Asperger's Syndrome, an autism-spectrum disorder that carries some of the same symptoms as ADHD - particularly the nervous energy bit. I get excercise when I'm at the computer whether I mean to or not.

(having some friends with Asperger's I know what you must go through...so kudos for having a positive outlook ).

When I have all day to game (weekends) I always take a 1 mile walk right after lunch, or my buttochs can't make it for a day in front of the computer. Oh, and I do plenty of walking around campus while at school during the week.
I usually get up and stretch and walk around especially if I have been sitting for long periods of time.
I don't exercise during game time.
I don't game during my exercise time. |
Although I admit to thinking about costume ideas while on the wall in the rock-climbing gym.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I keep some spring grips on my desk, for use anytime my hands get tight or achy. If my back objects to sitting at the keyboard for an extended period (work or play), and I have a few minutes, I can step into the next room and use my new inversion table (has helped immensely with lower back problems). But otherwise, I just get to the gym for 45-60 minutes most days (and my aikido dojo a few nights a week).
I don't do too much exercise while keyboarding (reading yes, exercise no). But I have trouble walking and chewing gum...well, no, actually, since I quite smoking going on 9 years ago, I chew a lot of gum walking or otherwise...but you know what I mean.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.
