Although at this point I'm so old that I don't even find women under 35 interesting, but the "Toddlers in Tiaras" stuff needs to be stamped out with a steel-toed jackboot.
*Shrug* many of my female friends from high school who are now in their 30s and with children look almost the same as they did when they were 13, 14. My male colleague in his 40s was mistaken for an undergraduate just a few weeks ago.

In fact, many of the 20-year-old girls I see (and I see a lot of them) have facial features and skin tones of that picture. I'm personally unable to tell if they are 20 or 12, but I assume that if they're in college, they're at least 18.

I really wish people on the forums would focus more on saving and less on hating.

I will propose a new campaign.

I bet that blade and soul female avatar has scoliosis too, like female avatars of many games ...it might have to do with carrying a huge and heavy weapon on one side all the time.
  3. Haha, funny. Thanks for the link. I'm going to check out the other reviews too.
I'll probably try it one day, but not at this time. The whole CoH thing is putting a damper on my interest, and I don't like crowds...
  4. Of course I will.
Oh, and I love Freedom Force, and Freedom Force vs Third Reich (though not the dumbdown on the energy bar).
  5. - Pictures of Battalion. What is the Coming Storm?
    - What are they building in Port Oakes?
    - What happens to the Dream Doctor in the End?
    - For that matter, what is the relation between Rularuu and Dream Doctor?
    - Why did Lord Nemesis become "good" in the future? (Mender Silos)
    - What are the 13 methods of time travel?
    - Who are the mender members actually? Lazarus, Tesseract, etc.
    - What happened that led to the first Incarnate mission where Oroborous had collapsed?
    - In Primal Earth, who is Penny Yin's mother?
    - What was the Blood of the Black Stream?
    - What happens in the end to Tyrant?

  8. Out of nostalgia, I started flipping through some of the old screenshots I had. Some of they really got me cackling.

I remember these...anyone else here do?

    Blaster forums:

    Blasterpalooza! Everyone nuke the AV!

    Everyone nu...zzzzzzz

Anyone from the A-- Clowns still around?
(Level 11s vs Epidural! We won...eventually)

    Defender forums:

Absorb pain to death competition...last one standing loses
A crowd of curious lowbies gather to mourn the selfless empaths.

Sadly I lost the pictures of the dark defenders herding giant monsters until a giant mushroom came along, mezzed and killed everyone.

Anyone from the Eventful Eight still around?

  9. I am flabbergasted. Reading the news that CoX is being shut down is like hearing someone I know died. Everything must have an end, but this is violent death... but what to do, I can only thank the devs current and past (and even Jack) for creating this game, and my fellow players for making the special memories of this electronic world.

    "Heroes may die
    But Heroism never shall"
  10. Can the devs let us have their game bible?
Edit: make it one of those hardcover book things with concept art. I bet it'll sell out.
  11. Completing the Magisterium trial should unlock the Hybrid slot immediately. After all, you've just defeated the Well's Champion. It should be very impressed with you.

Incarnate: Yay, I defeated Cole. So, Well, impressed?
Well: Nuh-uh. You got to do it again. Round 2!
Incarnate: What? Ok...here we go....so, Well, impressed?
Well: No, might be a fluke ...do it again!
    Incarnate: ...
Well: Ok, I believe you now. You can defeat my Champion over and over, so you must be good enough to get some more power.

Those that do not complete can work towards Hybrid using the iXP gained from the defeat 250 and defeat AVs stage (rebalance distribution between mobs and AVs).

I've tried it 7 times and only succeeded once. In the 6th (successful) run, nothing was significantly different compared to the other runs, but Tyrant went down easily. It then boils down to luck whether two almost identical teams succeed or fail, depending on who gets the level shift. This is not ideal. Perhaps the trial is actually designed for 16 people. I will try running with only 16 and see how it goes.

Also, now that we know how the lightning works, people should be able to continue DPSing Tyrant during the lightning by just moving away from the columns...maybe. This should help stop him from regenning up.

Opposite way around: Yin is feminine, Yang is masculine.

    I vote "Good Penny".

"Good Penny" versus Praetorian counterpart/Rogue Island villain "Bad Penny". Bwahahaha
  14. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I was away from the office and couldn't log in.

I do not know whether I am behind a web accelerator, but after some investigation I found that the ISP my friend uses is behind something call a "proxy array", which in my limited understanding means they are constantly switching proxies.

As for myself, I do not think it is anything on my end, because I move my laptop between different places with different networks and cannot log in from any of:

    - another ISP (home), my guess is that it is run like my friend's ISP
    - college 1, connecting to ethernet port (possibly to unknown proxy?)
    - college 2, connecting to ethernet port (also to unknown proxy?)

The only place where I can connect is my office which has a fourth network.

If it is proxies causing the problem then I guess there is nothing to do but just log in when I am in office. The two ISPs are pretty much the major ones in my country so I don't think I can get an ISP that works..

WanderingAries: Tried the method but it didn't work.
  15. I have been unable to log into the forums for the past many many months. This was ever since the bug that prevented many people from logging in but was subsequently 'resolved' by having people change their password.

However I still could not log in and neither could my friends who played the game.

So how am I logging in now? I think it might be a dynamic vs static IP problem? I have a new job with a static IP, and I am now logging in from the workplace. I am unable to log in elsewhere.

Friend 1 who plays the game is only able to log in from her workplace (multi-national company, possibly also static IP?)

Friend 2 is unable to log in (from home, where she plays. Dynamic IP).

I contacted technical support back when this problem came up, and they tried their best to help me but ultimately the problem was not on their end and they could not resolve it.
  16. I'm really heartened to see people reading Father Brown stories.

    Oh... one more thing.

The dev chat magic 8-ball hints that Controllers will be getting Dark Miasma soon (tm).

Wow, it's a Mr Quizzles! I see a giant monster mushroom coming for you....

Nothing much has changed...Fluffy still isn't perma, and petrifying gaze still sucks.

Vigilance gets a damage bonus which other people have mentioned.
    Incarnate powers are yummy.

    Welcome back!

Maybe they need to make a trial with massive slows and -rech so that I can pull out my ice tank and make fun of those soft-capped toons who now flailing around madly, unable to move!

I guess my dom will just forget about holding and pretend I'm a blaster. Blast those filthy cheater iAVs!
  22. Wow, here's a name I haven't seen for a long time.

Dark Miasma has virtually not changed.

The alpha incarnate slot, which is a global enhancement, helps with the endurance suckage (cardiac). It's not hard to make them either -- just do the arc with Mender Ramiel in Oroborous, and do a few TFs. Spiritual for recharge also works.

You can get status protection! For periods of time. No more toggles get mezzed off and then you die. The Destiny incarnate slot, Clarion buff.

Solo much got better, with a 30% damage buff from vigilance. Add Assault and voila, instant 45% damage boost. Add in IO set bonuses...muhaha...

Oh no! Really? No blaster-ROF? I will go with Ice then.

Rad isn't bad, if Time/Rad, skip granny bowling since recharge and defense will be high. Just stand in the middle of the mobs, spam irradiate and basketball toss for AoEs?
  24. The OP defined "best" as "'Most effective' meaning most useful in incarnate trials... able to survive and overcome medium sized groups of +1s to +3s."

I'm behind BrandX. Time/fire defender. I really don't notice doing much controlling needed on incarnate trials. Have enough damage on BAF, particularly AOE damage, and you don't really need to control the prisoners either.

With the consideration of Incarnate-hood, heavy IOing, and general survivability boost from time defense, just skip the controller part and play a defender for straight up damage.

    This is incarnate trial AVs?
No wonder I haven't been able to hold them even with the level shifts.
