Anyone exercise between in-game activities?

Just a REALLY random question that popped up in my head.

Maybe you're between missions in a PUG. Perhaps someone on the TF had to run out to see what the dog is barking at or get a phone call. Whatever. But real life usually provides a few breaks here and there between beating up Hellions, you know?

Does anyone exercise during this time? And if so, what works for you?

If its not obvious, I'm looking for quick ideas. As much as I enjoy beating up the Cimerorans, I wouldn't mind having their builds instead of my current one

One of my friends exercises WHILE playing City...she sometimes plays on a recumbent bike.

I had a friend that kept a KettleBell by his desk, though not for in between times.

He used it as a punishment for dying because in his words "Debt is a joke and I need some kind of incentive not to die, to play carefully and avoid scrapperlock."

So whenever he would 'die' on any toon, he'd brb the team and quickly do 2 reps of 30. Once we joined a particularly lousy ITF and...

After the 5th death in less than 15 minutes he dropped team and logged for the night. I don't think he 'Punished' himself after that.

I do yeah, just a few pressups or situps or wieghts while we wait for either the team to fill or during a 5 min cooldown i'll have now and then while solo.

How else you think i keep in such great shape?

For a time I've tried to do something during loading times or downtime in general, but it's too uneven to have any kind of serious routine, and going back to playing after putting stress on my body sometimes ended up in finger/back pain.

What I do now is I work out while I play the market. I have to switch between a bunch of characters (so, spend quite some time on loading screens) to do that anyway, and it's the kind of ingame activity that I can control the pacing of.

It should be possible to do the same with solo missions I guess - take out one spawn, exercise, rest, repeat ; but with actual playing I find myself going "oh, my judgement is recharged, I gotta fight just one more spawn" at best and locked in scrapperlock for an entire mission at worst.

Does going to the kitchen for another snack and/or drink refill count?

Why, it's a whole 18 steps, 18!, (yes, I did just go to the kitchen counting) to the refrigerator.

Does the 30 seconds it takes to extract myself from my chair count?

I do this, two 16 kilo units and two 24 kilo units. Sets of snatches, double jerks and other activities while soloing. Keeps me from molding to the shape of my chair.

I don't exercise during game time.

I don't game during my exercise time.

The two are entirely separate compartments in my life, I logged a little over 60 miles last week (running).

I'm averaging high 40's/week for the year, plus biking and swimming.

I don't understand what this thread means.

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

I have Asperger's Syndrome, an autism-spectrum disorder that carries some of the same symptoms as ADHD - particularly the nervous energy bit. I get excercise when I'm at the computer whether I mean to or not.

I think its a good idea to hop up every now and again to get the circulation going, maybe do some squats or something to put stress on the legs, especially for those that don't have a set routine.

Me? I used to do arm curls, push ups and chair dips when I was playing during school because I didn't have the time to do that on my own and play and I wanted bigger arms/chest. Now? I just don't play as often. I do other stuff. But I still get up and walk around during load times cause my bum gets no cushion from my game chair.

Yup, I keep a pair of dumbells on my desk for when my gaming partner does one of his famous 20-minute-AFKs.

Does exercising brain count? I listen to longish Podcasts and Concerts on cordless headphones during all my gaming sessions. Long cave crawls or sewer treks dwindle to insignificance while listening to my stuff.

I do move around and stretch between things pretty often... and then there's Sara to deal with. o_0 Sara is my cat. She typically camps out on my desk when I'm playing. Or right on top of my keyboard, depending on how keen she is to be the center of attention.

The people I team and trial with regularly on Liberty are pretty used to me AFKing during down-time due to "cat aggro". That typically turns into me pulling a ribbon around for Sara to chase for a few minutes. Exercise for both of us, I guess.

Ooooo so many ways to go:

- What great shape?
- Yeah, I can see the type of exercise you practice: lifting pints.
- Oh yeah, round is a shape too!
- Yes, well... those sheep don't chase themselves.
- Ah yes, I see a shape. It's underneath the fat.

I could go on, but I won't. Damzy is too nice to be roasted.

But its a moral obligation to round on him with such an easy opportunity!

Yeah, you lot are making me feel bad, unless bio breaks and liquid scavanging count, then no, I do not excercise while playing, tho I probably should...

*looks around for things to use*

Nah, I tend to have a book ready for downtime... brainercise?

not during play, i tend to play late at night and a lot of thumping around would cause issues. plus loads arent really long enough for anything serious, at least on coh. when i used to play that japanese mmo based on a popular game series, i did push ups while resting, since you had to do a longish rest between every 2-3 fights with my mithra monk.

also, while playing a certain recent single player game about cybernetic augmentations with hellishly long load times, i tend to do slow extension kicking techniques. not as noisy and good isometric.
