Then again, there's still plenty of bug-hunting to be done in the beta, so CoH Freedom could potentially slip.

Is it saying subscribers can acquire 400pts for $2? Does this stack with the 400/month we are already acquiring from our subscriptions?

I just sold a spare laptop I had. I might use this as an opportunity to set up those extra 450 accounts I've been wanting.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

Anyway, I don't need a third account... but it was 2.00, and right now I'm maxed out on character slots on Virtue on both accounts, so I was able to justify spending 2 bucks.
I think the Devs should take note! It's always easy to justify spending $2.00. Not so much $10.00 or $20.00.

I was the same with the GR complete collection for my third (formerly EU) account. I couldn't afford another game+expansion cost but then it dropped to the price of a month's full sub which I felt able to spend.
I might just buy those fifth and sixth accounts at this price

I don't know whether or not to be excited for an early September release. It's really going to mess with my priorities. A few nice game releases in September. I'm sure I'll find time, though.
At least it means that I can finally use those character concepts I've been holding back.
Shame that it's only for creating a new account and so can't be used to upgrade a trial account.

Created a new second account, since we're having some issues with my wife's account. (Working with support now on that).
I figured that for $2, I may as well. I added the GVE box code (that I got for $10 at a clearance), and one of the CoV box codes (when I bought 6 boxes for $4/ea, thinking I could use them all on my current account :/).
So, I figure I have a playable second account for three months that has cost me a grand total of $16, spread out over the course of, like, two years.

Aren't we all getting a second and third and fourth and fifth account for free anyway, if we want 'em?

NCSoft isn't going to cut off any income from the store if they weren't damn sure that Freedom would be launched within days of that date, August 29th.
So I'm guessing the targeted launch date is Tuesday the 30th.
Personally I would hope that they try a soft launch for current and past (now premium) subscribers until that first big post issue bug patch goes live and THEN open up the flood gates everyone. Buggy launches aren't really attractive to new players, even if it's free.

Upgraded my trial account that I made for one of the prestige grants (hooray for prestige padding!). I figure this $2 fee grants me: 1 token for owning a retail code and 1 token for having a sub for one month, which puts me in Level 2, so this Premium account will have SGs, tells, email, trading, ++inf cap, ++inventory... it also grants me 400pp to spend as I see fit in the market once this goes live. All for $2, so how could I say no? I might even go find a cheap GR box to apply before it goes live for the extra reward token and 400pp from a month of sub, 2 extra character slots (GR doesn't grant 2 slots after Freedom launch), and Praetoria access.

Along with the accompanying credit card problems, of course. I can't even imagine how frustrating it would be to get a hold/lock on your card due to suspicious activity or something (or, based on past experiences, for being from outside the US).

I am probably overly optimistic that I21 will launch on 8/30 or 8/31 just so I can enjoy it for the three day Labor Day weekend.
I am still trying to figure out how this game continues to be so enjoyable to me after a bit over 87 months of playing. I thank and congratulate all devs, mods, and fellow players present and past for their role in that and future ones for the next * years.
* I am beginning to wonder if they can just keep updating it so it never ends.

The only other way I know of is via Steam... you can gift there, but they only have GR and for full price.
