Discussion: City of Heroes Freedom and Issue 21 VIP Beta starts August 9!
The store uses an in-game interface, and its integrated with the character creator and other parts of the UI (allowing you to buy things you don't have unlocked). Other than that, there's a button to launch it from within the game. Beyond that, you should see for yourself to get an unvarnished first impression.

By basing the choice on the wide variety of content, powersets included, and the far more economical price? I paid $30 for GR and got 1-20 arcs, side-switching, Incarnates, etc for that value. At last word, we were looking at $10 for a single powerset, which means that for the style-conscious, things like individual animations carry a bit more weight in the total bang/buck ratio equation.

We don't want to learn anything on our own.
We want it all spoonfed to us in a nice Zombie Man-style guide.
Or pictures would be better, yes pictures to show us what to do so we don't have to actually do anything but button mash.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Were I new player, I'd pick a powerset that looked interesting or fit a concept and probably ignore any powersets requiring me to purchase them until I saw it in action in the game.
Have things like people wanting to be able to preview attack animations and the like been taken into consideration with the for-purchase powersets? Will they be selectable and then buyable like costume pieces, or will they be grayed-out and unable to even be looked at like the GR sets?
Guessing the latter, but I can speak for myself, at least, and say I'm a little hesitant to put real money into a set when I don't know what it looks like. |
Too bad you didn't use the unedited version of the picture. Especially since the edited one has errors like Manticore's quiver magically floating behind Statesman.

I really shouldn't do this, but ok. Here's a sneak peak at the in-game store:

Will we have access to the paragon rewards?
Well quoting Avatea from the Original Post.

"Window shopping" to begin with, by all accounts.
Well, I just thought that you don't need paragon points to redeem the rewards themselves, that they would be a different case from the store.
You get Paragon Rewards yes. Paragon Points are coming at a later date.
Dear Issue 21...my body is ready lol.

So you're saying to use the store, we have to hope the right inspiration drops?

Can we combine three others to get it?
Do the upper level version grant a discount or something?

I couldn't think of a better birthday gift
THANKS!!!

^ Happy Birthday.
Also, anyone else launch the beta client and see the new UI and background image? Chubby Statesman FTW?
Has Statesman fallen on hard times now that all of these super-incarnate-god-people are protecting the world and packed on a few lbs?
It's actually a free floating, round button (movable by the player). It feels pretty unobtrusive to me.

Copied over my main Fire/Rad/Power Corr for respec'ing into Burnout, and my SS/EA brute for the same. Can't wait to see Time/Fire Defenders and the Market.
The Market. Mmmmm, the Market.
