When will it close? is it a long term open beta or is it a day or two then the servers shut down so we can't access it? The reason I ask is I'd like to play it on Thursday for many many hours at a time as I have the day off. 
I wanna test Time Manipulation, and Street Justice, and Beam Rifle, and Regen Broots, and new costume pieces, and the new trial, and I want to grope some 10,000 year old Pancake.
....I mean, fight the new Circle of Thorns.

IE you have to be a subscriber to be a VIP and you have to be a subscriber to play in the Open Beta. So all they have done is make clear that open beta's will be VIP only once Freedom rolls around.
That said an open beta can run 2 - 6 weeks usually. It tends to the 2 - 4 week time frame unless there is a major problem found and that would put the release sometime in September which is where the smart money has been betting. We shall have to see what we see starting tomorrow. IE how ready is it really for primetime.

At one point a long while back there were multiple shards added to the test farm to test things like markets and global chat things, but Beta is a completely different server farm, capable of running a completely separate game build from the test farm and the live farms.

Is there a way to speed the download? That is in the old days you could speed up the installation of the test server by copying the Live client into the test folder and having it update the changed files. Is that still possible?
Reason I ask is I don't really want to re-download ~6Gb data ~4Gb of which I probably have on my PC already...
