I am finding that Beam Rifle/Poison is VERY effective. It accentuates the already powerful scourge ability. I am still only level 22 atm, but no problems thus far

I couldn't think of a better birthday gift
THANKS!!! -
Although I rarely comment on things, I am cool with the addition of Freedom and paragon points. I pay by the year (loan/grant money being my main income), I can't really see disadvantages to the PP system.
Freedom = more players and PP = more money to keep the game going.
I would like to see them start lifetime subs like they (apparently) did early on.
I am not a big micro transaction person but I see the advantages there.
New tutorials are a welcome sight (after GR, I was rolling new toons Praetorian side for that) as well.
New content/areas for red side are welcome as well. Mercy seems almost wasted as well as other stuff (the ghost hunting missions in PO, etc.) on red side.
Personally, I adore some of the lesser played areas such as the Shadow Shard, Orob, Cimerrora) and would like to see more for them as well.
Maybe allow access for villains in the Shard (such a HUGE group of areas) for 200 PP maybe?
Wondering if they will allow the purchase of entire booster packs for PP in addition to individual parts?
What do you think? -
I get similar issues with my pets though if I exit a mission and they are there but uncontrollable (show up as unowned), I try to find an entry point (AE, zone, whatever and wait a few seconds, they usually rejoin me.
It is weird to see them run out en mass as I run into the university but that isn't really an issue.
What really got me was tonight as I was playing my Traps/Mercs doing my mayhem mission. I entered the arson side mission and lo and behold... just me and my force field emitter. Then the Longbow started coming. Thankfully I was able to run back out and a few of my guys (both my spec ops) rejoined, but no one else. More Longbow showed up...
I ran around, threw down all the traps I could and ran BACK in the arson building. A few more mercs rejoined and I ran back out again. Fun, fun...
Finally, I had all my guys and proceeded to defeat the Longbows harassing me.
I figure this uncontrollability happens if you enter a mission or area too close to an ambush spawn. Thankfully, my guys are almost always set on offensive so even if they don't respond to commands, they try to take the baddies down.
The only other issue I have with Masterminds, is that usually without fail, my medic or arsonist (depending on the powerset) likes to go up close and personal.
With the arsonist, I basically didn't count on him for most of 5 or so levels because of this. The medic, however is paramount as I only have triage beacon for healing outside of slapping inspirations on the guys.
I know you can bind macros (like on specifically for the medic to keep him on me, for example) but I am not confident with the idea of messing around with that yet. -
Quote:Thanks, I didn't realize there was a new update. Now finally, I can check out the test server againThe black screen before login only happened with a certain couple of versions of NVIDIA graphics drivers, and only on Vista and Windows 7. Just upgrade to the latest drivers (as of this writing 190.62 (08/21/09) and your problems should go away. I know the early 188 and 189 drivers were doing it, the 185.85s don't and neither do any after mid-late 189. XP doesn't seem to be affected by this regardless.

I get the same problem but not in-game - only if I try to go to the training room for beta testing.
When I try to play the game normally, no problem.
I have no clue why this is... -
I am getting the black screen as well, though I get sound. As I look at the COX site's server status, it seems to be closed for the last few days. I am thinking there's a connection.
Anyone else out there getting on the test server the last few days? -
Heck, put AE in Oroborous - it would eliminate the 25 and under PLing AND make Orob something more than a glorified train depot. You could put it on one of the many floating islands there....
Or, if the Dev's REALLY wanted to get to people, remove all the AE buildings and put one floating next to the truck in Pocket D. Or maybe just have a large mob of Sappers spawn to the location of someone spam broadcasting for farms...
Seriously, AE can and is being abused alot. TBA though, I haven't had trouble getting PUGs outside of Atlas and Cap AE. Visting other AEs is not worth it if you are looking for AE teams, though I am surprised that theres NOONE in the RWZ AE (think about it: AE missions with Heroes AND Villains?). Part of the fun for Xmas Pocket D missions is teaming up with the 'other side'. -
My 2 cents
I can say with all honesty, that my SS/WP brute is pretty much unstoppable. I soloed most of the time and was able to hit 50 with ease. Heck, even the annoying EB missions that pop up near to 50 were no problem. The only real problem I had was soloing an Orob mission where you are attacked by all of the Heroes, one after another. I usually survive well (having died maybe 5 times for 1 - 50) but afte the third death in a few minutes, i relented.
I can't say I used Rage much though when I had to take a power, I took it and managed to slot it with an IO that gives a chance for psi damage. Not much, but something interesting to add to the mix.
I recommend fitness, not as you need it as an SS/Wp Brute, but the double health/end regen is very nice.
I even took Handclap which, I know it ain't too powerful, but then again, it works for me.
I am being lazy atm or I would post Jim Slade's (Pinnacle server, btw) stats via herobuilder.
Lastly, if anything, Jim works wonderfully if I am testing out one of my MA missions. -
Yay! Double XP again!
(I guess I will have to wait before customizing my powers 'till that's over, of course.)
I would like to say thanks as well for this new opportunity as every time there is a double XP weekend as invariably, someone in my family needs my full attention on those special days. (Don't they understand? I have priorities! My girlfriend loves when I say, Sorry, Babe, Paragon needs me. :P )
The mapserver issues DID seem a little more than usual, now I understand.
Also, kudos for the idea of double merits...I have a 50 and several toons who are very high level and kinda feel like I missed out on some of the merit rewards. Granted, I haven't done much as far as TF/SFs so I am not blaming anyone but myself.
As far as AE overload, HERE is an interesting idea:
During the double XP weekend, the PPD around the AE building in Atlas 'disappear' and there is an invasion by Malta Sappers and a Dev run Hamidon.
Wouldn't THAT be fun? (Bwahahaha!). > -
I would really appreciate some feedback on my story arc entitled:
Oh No, not zombies AGAIN?!?
It has been played by a few friends and one other to my knowledge. I think it might need some tweaks but is definitely playable.
There is a sequel in the works but I am having trouble plotting atm.
Danke,

I got what info I could from tech support and am considering this thread's ideas for the 9800 gtx+ fix ,HOWEVER, I am reluctant to do this as I also play Fallout 3 and can deal with (though am annoyed by) the crashing. In other words, I would rather have crashes in City than problems with newer games. Also, it's the same old story that simply, City runs open GL and not direct3d. I can't say whether they (the devs) are planning to integrate direct3d or if it would be like making a whole new game (I am not really sure what the difference is between opengl and direct3d). I will, however, keep an eye out on this thread to see if there is any real updates.
