Only getting a black screen
Try opening the Test version of the game in Safe Mode?

Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)
I am getting the black screen as well, though I get sound. As I look at the COX site's server status, it seems to be closed for the last few days. I am thinking there's a connection.
Anyone else out there getting on the test server the last few days?
FNORD
I am also only getting a black login screen with sound.
update.. I managed to get in using keyboard only (hit tab once, typed in my password, and clicked around blindly until I hit the training room server select). Once the character select screen came up I could -barely- make out my characters. logging one in I was able to fumble around in the dark and switch to windowed mode. a quit restart of the client and everything is fine - in windowed mode
I managed to fix it. I was able to get in game and I could see the game, just not my windows very well. So I did what I could and changed it to windowed mode. Once in Windowed Mode, the game was running perfectly.
After checking things out, I can say I'm eager for this issue now more than ever
I too am experiencing the same problem. Black Screen on login, but I also have sound. I've tried to login as others have, but am having no luck "blindly clicking" my way in. Please release a fix for this soon!
Question for those affected: What OS are you running, and what video card(s) are you using?
Edit: And are you running any shell modification programs, like Windowblinds, for example?

Not entirely sure why that would matter, considering the live servers work fine, but I'll humor you. My setup is as follows:
Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate Media Center Edition
CPU Type Intel Pentium III Xeon, 3600 MHz
CPUID CPU Name Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
System Memory 4096 MB
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+
Network Adapter D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter

Or, y'know, you could just shout at the devs to "fix it NOW!", like some petulant child without giving them any information to go on. With any luck, everyone else who's already posted in this thread will share their specs as well and a possible common culprit might be identified.

That's what I'm running. I have a feeling it might have something to do with the NVIDIA cards or something.
But yeah, I blindly clicked away once I knew I was into the server selection screen. Once the character choices popped up, I could see enough to be able to get in game and fiddle with my resolution settings until I could get to Windowed Mode. Once in Windowed, it was working perfectly fine.
It could very well be an Nvidia issue, as a previous "black screen" problem was in fact traced back to a particular set of Nvidia drivers. I just didn't want to jump to conclusions and assume that it's another driver issue, hence me asking what video cards those with this problem are facing.
Speaking of, what drivers are you currently using, Frost?

Is there a shortcut argument setting for windowed mode? IE: "-windowed"? In order to bypass this issue?
I just installed 190.62 Nvidea drivers for my 64 bit system and tried it again. There was a very short download on connection then everything came up normally. Not sure if it was the driver that solved the problem, or the download. Either way, it works now. Thanks for the help.

Hi all. I got the test all downloaded and now when I load it up, all I get is a black screen and if I look closely, I can BARELY see my cursor.
HELP! How do I fix this?
