Do we really need a reboot of a reboot Maybe when Disney gets the film rights back from Sony

Kids looks pretty young. Could be interesting. Really hope they don't spend all their time hyping up the fact he's of a different ethnicity, though.

An ongoing TV series would a great medium for the character if Marvel wanted to spin off (ha!) the Ultimate version. The great thing about the original Lee-Ditko run was how Peter Parker's dual life was just one thing after another, constantly testing him on every front from the personal to the superheroic. Building that sort of narrative is challenging in film, to say nothing of the standard three-act summer blockbuster genre, but it's something television can do almost as well as comics.

Naturally the mainstream media is all over that angle. It's potentially more interesting for the series's new character since the Spider-Man costume prevents anyone from being able to tell at all.

I agree that the life and drama of Spider-Man would transition better on TV then the movies. Last I heard there was a new animated series in the works and it was based on the Ultimate comics version of Spider-Man.

Ugh I hate that, especially for hispanic characters. They've got to speak spanglish every other sentence.

Hey if you know something spill. All I know about Miles Morales is that he's the newest character to join the Aliterative Name Club in comics. Joining established characters as Bruce Banner, Matt Murdock, Peter Parker, Reed Richards, Scott Summers, Sue Storm, Stephen Strange, Wally West, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Lana Lang, and a few more that I can't recall.

It seems like the Ultimate universe is built entirely on replacements now. We have two other Hulks that replaced Banner, Daredevil was killed and replace with a new kid, and Wolverine was offed and now replaced by his son.

I don't know anything... It's just i feel I've heard that name somewhere. I can't remember where though. It bothers me cuz it might give some insight.

The only thing Google pulls up is either an actual Miles Morales facebook page or, as you can probably guess, the Miles Morales as the new ultimate Spider-Man.

Isn't Morales the name of one of the artists that works or has worked on Spider-man?

I'm willing to believe that the nearly solid caucasian make up of Marvels signature characters played no role in this creative detour (white to both AA & hispanic).
Then again, I've been wrong before.

Bendis states that it was Donald Glover's campaign to get him an audition for the then upcoming Spider-Man reboot is what inspired the creation of Miles Morales.

Having started picking up comics again, I don't think I'll be continuing with this Spider-Man.

Spider-Man is Peter Parker.

Don't see why they couldn't just create the Crimson Spider (or whatever name they wanted) for a new Spider-Man style comic and keep Peter Parker as Spider-Man.

Yup - I can agree with this.

Because this is the Ultimate universe, where big changes are fine. Hell, they killed off half of the universe and revealed that all mutants are not the evolution of humans, but just experiments like the super soldier program.

Yeah, but I see these changes and think "This is them testing out extreme changes for movies/616"

This is them trying to make changes to diversify instead of just bringing in new blood and giving it a chance to catch on.

Look, instead of creating a new character, they're trying to use an established character, because they don't have the patience to play out anything new that doesn't catch on right away.

There's a comics artist named Rags Morales, but I don't know that he's ever done any work on Spider-Man.

Hmmm....this sounds familiar. Rawhide Kid/Isaiah Bradley anyone?
Another publicity stunt by marvel, and these media outlets fall for it everytime.

If marvel truly wanted to give Latinos/blacks/gays their due respect, they would create a new hero that didn't suck and wasn't a walking stereo type...instead, here is a mixed race kid (2 for 1!) who no matter what is always going to be living in Peter parker's Lilly white shadow.

Because a Crimson Spider comic won't sell nearly as well as a Spider-man one will.
