Sparkles for Blood...
you know, i hate to defend twilight, but based on what i have seen in the movies, the cullens are the exception. the group under the redhead are psychotic killers and the leadership callously murder a entire group of tourists like a bunch of ambulatory happy meals, so perhaps we are overstating our case a bit.

Edward was Emo. The Cullens were nice. And the other vampires...bloodthirsty killers who are more than happy to make you a meal.

Yes, obviously the people at IDW haven't rwad the book or know anything about Twilight.

While they may have the whole 'Some of us don't drink human blood anymore.' they certainly don't have the aspects of real and true vampires (and don't even get me started on werewolves)
but there arent real and true vampires, 30 days takes as many liberties with vampires as twilight does, it just goes grim and gritty rather than stylized. vampires are an amalgamation of several different folktales and there was no absolute on how they acted, what their weaknesses were, or even if they were physically there or just a miasma coming from the copse of an evil person. same with werewolves. in fact, i felt the werewolves were fairly true to some interpretations of them. i was thrilled they didnt make the lazy special effect mistake of making the bipeds. I know some European variants were bipeds, but overall they worked better as large terrifying wolves.

yeah, actually a freind was going to be moving away, and we did mst3k movie nights(where we watch silly movies and crack wise) so we figured we'd finish on twilight. doing the first twilight movie on a great deal of mt dew and pixie stix lead to some memorable lines. the second one wasnt as good since very little actually happened.

the story is about the exception dealing with the difficulties of maintaining their humanity in the face of the larger and more bestial norm. far from an unusual theme in such books. my point stands quite nicely. and i reiterate, the 30 days later vamps also arent entirely the norm. they arent really nearly as strong, they have those silly shark teeth, and they seem primarily concerned about a weakness only made up in a movie from 1979. and what about crosses? sometimes they stun vamps, sometimes they just remove their power(as per dracula) and in some cases, their presence kills vampires. what is the norm?
if i may be blunt, it seems that nerds hate twilight because its letting normals into our world and"gasp" making their own rules. the G.R.O.S.S. clubhouse will not abide such heterodoxy, we cannot retain our uniqueness if we let others use our stuff in a different way.
Dracula himself has no problems moving around in the sunlight in Bram Stoker's Dracula. On more than one occassion in the novel he's seen moving around in London in the afternoon.
He doesn't sparkle, though,
Not sure where the whole 'vampires die in the sunlight' thing comes from in literature, actually.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
it apparently doesnt. kali m used to argue this a lot with twilight haters, so that is where im getting some of this (with wiki verification, because i forget stuff). apparently the first example of it killing a vamp is in the Frank langella movie version of dracula in 79. Now in the book, drac is weakened by sunlight, but still mobile. its just that in the sun he is basically human, whereas in the dark he is super strong.
Have you guys never seen any of the Bela Lugosi Draculas? Or any vampire movie from about 1922 on.
P.S. It's Nosferatu.
Something witty and profound
I move that Twilight "vampires" be refered to as "sparklepires" and nothing else.
Is it just me or do you guys think that a lot of brothers will be taking their sisters twilight books for the trade in lol

Even if the vamps in Twilight were more in line with the ones in other popular media, it still wouldn't stop me from longing to shove an icepick into Edward and Bella's eyes repeatedly.
P.S. While Dracula could walk about during the day; I THINK it mentioned him not being as powerful as he was at night.
My problem is that the entire thing is a propaganda piece trying to get little girls to join a racist sexist cult...but hey, that's just me ^.^

If you're talking about Mormons, yes, Meyer(s?) is a mormon, but there's nothing in the books (that I've heard, from my ex who was a huge Twi-hard) or the movies (this I can attest to, she made me watch all the ones that are out to-date) that tries to lure people to the faith, and she (supposedly) didn't even so much write it as dream it and record the dream for publication.
Now if you're talking about something else, you'll have to explain a bit better, but I haven't heard or seen anything trying to get people to join any sort of group (other than Twilight fans) in what I know of the series.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

Wow.
I don't think I've seen such an offensive post on these forums before.
Now I'm wondering when this thread will be locked or the post deleted.

I think people who bash Twilight need to get a grip. It falls in the genre of Teen Romance, not Gothic Horror. It's like bashing Micky Mouse for not being a realistic portrayal of rodents. You need to consider the target audience.

The ENTIRE twilight franchise not just turns vampires into sparkling emo freaks, but it also turns the entire fan base into irrational idiots.
Target audience or not, there just something seriously wrong with people with how blown up this franchise as become.
Found this to be pretty awesome and ballsy....
