Giving the Players what they want: Solo Incarnate Content

And a gecko-summoning powerset for Masterminds. Or neighborhood chickens like the ones that woke me up. And a surfing, paddleboard and boogieboard travel power. And a kanak-attack temp power that puts you to sleep.
Only if I get cheap gaudy lei necklaces and Hawaiian greeting girl cosmetic pets. Like Arcanaville, I am not expressing a personal preference. It's objectively good for the game.

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

The trials aren't popular because they're so incredibly wonderful. The trials are popular because they're the only way of getting *multiple* classes of rewards. |

But Primal Earth is being invaded by Praetoria, which is the focus for the first stage of the Incarnate system - so technically, those Tips are all Incarnate content too.

Oooh, so if we could get iXP, Astral and Emp merits, and/or threads in tips mishes . . . *sigh* I'd be a happy happy camper.
Honestly, the most I would expect in terms of solo content would be say... Being able to get an Astral Merit instead of an Alignment merit when doing tips. Balancing a solo path would just be too difficult. Small team is easier, but solo is eh... Probably not going to happen (still might, but I have no idea how)
"Men strunt r strunt och snus r snus
om ock i gyllne dosor.
Och rosor i ett sprucket krus
r stndigt alltid rosor."
If there is any solo Incarnate content ever made, I'd like it not to be restricted to 1 person or only partial team. That seems like a no duh, but just throwing in some caution.

By virtue of that being almost exclusively what we've gotten since Incarnates came to the scene. If Matt Miller's explanation had held water, we'd have seen at least a comparable amount of non-Incarnate content being developed, but this hasn't happened. Now, again, this may be a case of most of the studio working on Freedom content so there being few people left, but we were promised the game wouldn't focus on end game all of a sudden, and it has.
This isn't about patience or preference or accusations. It's about the simple fact that one of the developer-stated problems and reasons they didn't want to do end game content to begin with has happened exactly as Jack Emmert and Matt Miller predicted it back in 2004, and Matt Miller's promised solution to that problem hasn't worked. Also, the mere fact that they delayed Going Rogue, then launched it without End Game and had to wait a whole other Issue to so much as add it, and then wait a half-issue to add to it tells me that there's a hell of a lot more work involved with Incarnate than anyone cares to admit and, quite possibly, than anyone expected. They've blown several soft deadlines already, and the first couple of months after Going Rogue release were spent with people demanding their end game that they paid money for. I'm more than positive that Paragon Studios bit off more than they could chew, and the small amount of content that gives Incarnate rewards is proof positive of that. |
As many other folks pointed out Sam, we don't know enough to make a claim like you did.....without a detailed breakdown of who did what and when from PS, it's conjecture. Basing it solely on what's been released to date isn't enough info, given that we know things don't always just get pushed out when they're done, but often have a planned release date, or are waiting on something else.

A little check when you take the tip that says "Incarnate". Then it makes everything level 54 with praetorian accuracy. Do 10 of those and you get an incarnate salvage table roll.

Such an easy change that would bring such joy.
I certainly think the next content out needs to be 1-8, but just as a multi-team trial represents a different type of challenge, a max 4 trial would do the same. It is no more exclusive than the current trial content is.
You mean seeing this on a regular basis-> "You're not X AT with Y powersets? sorry, no room" is somehow equal in exclusivity to "BAF league LFM" where, in my experience, all comers are taken?

I do not want to see content with a lower than 8 person limit. This game is not built to handle it. If you want to do it with fewer than 8 people, thats fine, but forcing a lower limit would break all kinds of assumptions about powersets. Especially mandatory-solo missions or something like that, which some builds would destroy effortlessly and others would be unable to put a dent in.
Do you sincerely think the BAF is wonderful?
I thought you were some sort of leet powergamer who likes a challenge or something.
I mean, I can do the BAF. Hell, I could probably lead one, by now. It seems a bit...simple. And not like 'easy' - like 'simpleton'.

And yet, some people can't lead a BAF. I'm sure you would do fine, but others, not so well.

When I post I post what I mean, not something tangentially related to what I mean. When I say I can post objectively, and not everything I say is completely subjective, I what I mean is I can post about objective facts and judgments, and not things completely based on subjective preference. Notice that the best way to explain what I mean is usually to essentially repeat what I said. That's usually how I judge whether to push the submit button.
