Best of MST3K?

So now that I have Netflix at my finger tips, I can watch almost any of my beloved Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. I was wonder, which episodes do you consider the "best" or in your top five? I've already seen Manos, Space Mutiny, Laserblast, Devil Doll, Warrior of the Lost Word, Eegah!, The Final Sacrifice, Touch of Satan, Hercules vs. the Moon Men, and Santa Claus many time before, so anything new would be appreciated.

Mitchell is a classic if only for being the farewell episode for Joel and introducing Mike to the cast. Beyond that...

(in no particular order)
Time Chasers
Hobgoblins
Soultaker
Giant Spider Invasion
Hamlet (no, seriously!)
Squirm
Diabolik (series finale)

That's all my sleep-deprived brain can conjure up at the moment, but I'm sure others will post more here!

I miss the Comedy Central that had MST3k on it...

The Gamera episodes are coming to DVD in August. I still have fond memories of those.

Agree with all the titles Haz listed, too, especially Timechasers and Giant Spider Invasion. (BEEEEN!!!!!!)

I also quite enjoyed the Magical Journey of Sinbad (he's not Sinbad!) and that Finnish/Russian epic, I think it was called Jack Frost.

Some of my all-time favorites are actually the "Shorts." There was one about going to the county fair, one about proper hygiene, etc. Those are hilarious.

I also have fond memories of the Robot Monster episode, but I don't know if they ever released that one on DVD.

The Corpse Vanishes. The shorts, the movie and the skits. Probably the episode that made me fall in love with the show.

"Whip it. Whip your hunchback."
"I was up to Crazyday's over at Boscerville the other day ya know."
"Those clown shoes burn like black tires."

Werewolf one. Though I don't know if that's on Netflix :S

The background behind that "movie" is almost as enjoyable as watching them watching the movie.

"Wharwulf" *shudder*

Also, Teenagers from outer space, if only for the plot, acting, monster effects, etc.

Edit: Toss in "Robot versus Aztec Mummy" and see if you can even stay awake for the whole damn thing.

I'm in the same boat regarding MST3Ks and Netflix. I kind of hate myself a little bit more after watching each one. I wish I could find clips of all the movie shorts in front of the actual movies; some of those shorts looked really "good" and you can get hooked on it and then BAM! you don't know how they end!

I've already forgotten about most of you

The "I Was A Teenage Werewolf" one is great. I think that was the episode that gave us a line we use all the time for actors who are too old to play their roles: "I've got some loans to process down at the bank."

Looking at my Netflix queue...

5 stars
Attack of the Giant Leeches

4 stars
Soultaker

3 stars
Blood Waters of Dr. Z
Devil Doll
The Final Sacrifice
Lost Continent
Monster a Go-Go

2 stars
Hercules against the Moon Men
The Killer Shrews
MST3K The Movie
Pod People

I've seen most of the episodes from back when they were first broadcast, but those are the only ones I have rated.

Also -- and this goes out to anyone -- if Cinematic Titanic comes to your town, go see it. It's the MST3K crew live. They're hilarious. Watching Joel forget the lines to the theme song and then try to make stuff up is funny, but Jay Elvis' opening monologue is worth the price of admission.

“This is my first time in New Hampshire. You don’t often see a state motto that’s multiple choice. ‘Land of a Thousand Lakes… or suck it!’” – Jay Elvis Weinstein, Cinematic Titanic, Capitol Center of the Arts, Concord, NH, 1-29-11

I don't think all of these are on Netflix, but my Top 5 favorite episodes are:
Pod People
Cave Dwellers
Fugitive Alien
Time Chasers
Catalina Caper

With Top 5 runner-ups:
Fugitive Alien II
Fire Maidens of Outer Space
Puma Man
Mitchell
Space Mutiny

Prince of Space is a great one, dunno if it's on NetFlix though.

I love the old MST3Ks and the new Cinematic Titanics, but it's been ages since I've watched any, so my memory's foggy... but here's another second for Hamlet!

I have to second Werewolf, and Cave Dwellers. Those ones had me rolling on the floor laughing the first time I watched them.

I am giddy with anticipation.

Some of my favorites:

Godzilla vs. Megalon -- don't know if Netflix would have this as it was only on sale for about 2 weeks before getting recalled due to rights and permissions errors. (This was the last straw with Rhino and was one of the big reasons Shout! Factory is now handling DVD releases.)

Space Mutiny -- already seen by the OP, but it's glorious.

The Beginning of the End -- if for no other reason than to see Crow's biography of Peter Graves.

The Wild World of Batwoman -- the main feature is okay (and extremely disjointed), but the short "Cheating" that precedes it is comedy gold.

Mitchell -- this is an absolute must see. "Final Judgment" is right up there, too.

Red Zone Cuba -- according to Mike Nelson, the most painful of the movies they actually had to watch. ("YOU shove off!")

Future War -- probably the most recent film release the MST3K crew got hold of. Styrofoam dinosaurs, alleyways littered with empty boxes, inarticulate muscleheads, clumsy fat guys, and a prop TV camera made out of shoeboxes...this movie had it all.

The Shorts Vol. 1 -- "Why Study Industrial Arts" might be one of the funniest 20 minutes MST3K ever put together.

Also worth seeing -- Hercules Unchained, Hercules Against the Moon Men, Master Ninja Vol. 1, Master Ninja Vol. 2 (these are episodes of an old TV show that featured Lee Van Cleef as a ninja -- nope, not making this up). There's probably many others I'm forgetting.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

That one suffers heavily from being one of the first episodes, thus they really hadn't found their footing yet. With a name like "Robot versus Aztec Mummy," you'd think you'd have great comedy, but there was none to be had.

Also, "The Creeping Terror" has a lot of solid riffing throughout, but the movie is bad. Really bad. I mean, bad for even MST3K standards. I would hazard a guess that something horrid happened to their sound recording while filming, and instead of looping the dialogue back in they just had a narrator come in and read all the lines. On top of that, the "Terror" is a bunch of guys under a burlap tarp with a floppy paper mache(sp?) head. (MIKE: "I get the creeping part, but I just don't see the terror.")

Oh, yeah. Jack Frost had some excellent moments, but for true Russo/Finnish MST3K laughs, I prefer The Day The Earth Froze.

So, does anyone know if "The Incredibly Strange Creature Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed Up Zombies" was ever put on DVD? That was probably the only episode if MST3K that was almost painful to watch, even with the riffing going on.

My favorites would probably be,

Space Mutiny
Pod People
Prince of Space
Red Zone Cuba
Boggy Creek II

The best of the shorts is obviously 'Mr. B Natural'.

Probably. It's available for streaming on Netflix.

Invasion of the Neptune did have the Hitler building, but Prince of Space was definitely better.

Just about any movie featuring Joe Don Baker. Mitchell was one (and a must see, I feel). Also, I recommend Secret Agent Super Dragon.

It's in Volume 9 from Rhino. Not sure if that's one of the "No longer available" sets, but you can check on Amazon.
