'Rookie' status on forum?

So how does the forum determine your status displayed under your name? I registered in 2004, and I've got more posts than people I see labelled as things other than rookie, so what gives?

Based on number of posts.

Weird, because I just saw someone tagged as 'citizen' with under 80 posts. Well, guess I know what I'm doing at work next week!

citizen is less than 100 posts, you get your next title upgrade at 500 posts, I think.

Can't locate it at work, but there should be a list of titles somewhere on the board.

Note as we are playing. Superhero MMO, "rookie" means "rookie hero" and citizen means "not even a hero (yet)" so here rookie is above citizen

Probably is - it seems accurate to the post counts of those in this thread, anyway.

As of posting this, you need 31 more posts to graduate from rookie and become a cohort, Bill_of_Rights. Forum Games is probably a good place to bolster your post count in a hurry.

I recommend, instead, not caring about post counts, and only post intelligent (or at least not ranting and not trolling) comments, help answer questions, etc. That's how I got my 17k+. I think I may have posted like 2-3 times, total, in Forum Games.

Titles are completely useless. Quality is a lot more important than quantity. If you have 369 constructive posts, then it is better than having 10,000 meaningless posts.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

There are two times I see people refer to post counts:
1. Asking what the titles mean, and
2. having no argument and trying to pull the "forumite bullying me because I only have X posts!" card (which tends to be the first time they're ever referred to in the thread.)

You've done the first, which is fine - have a question, ask it! Don't do the second, it's tacky and post count really does mean nothing.

Sure, easy for the Forum Cartel to say.

It might be worthwhile to have the community/php folks look at the board titles. "Rookie Hero" might be better than just "Rookie." Even better would be to check your forum skin: Hero skin -> "Rookie Hero," villain skin -> "Mook." Etc.

Just random thoughts and speculation though, mostly....

*Waves hand* there is no forum cartel. *places call to have Ironblade... "educated".

The only other time people really brought up post counts was the fact that Kali got to 20K+ before most of seemed to get 1k posts

Yeah I might have to stop posting just to keep it.

I wonder what my post count is...

Oh.

That's what it is.

Like Bill said, I see a lot more people calling out people with high post counts and claiming they're being bullied by them, than I do people actually get bullied by folks with a ton of posts.

Anyway though this is about titles, less than post counts. I kinda miss the days there were more titles beyond Cartel, and when the community team could give out special titles to contest winners and people who made notable contributions to the community. It not only made something essentially useless a bit more fun, it actually cut down on the animosity since the "ranks" were less cut and dried.

You're only saying that because you have a higher post count!!!

Side note, I also miss the special titles, and new title creation for new post counts being met. Fun times.

Yeah, but that's hardly unique to post count. Forum drama queens will always find something.

Unless you define "Hey, thanks for posting your idea, it's something that has been suggested hundreds of times already, but it's not a good idea for these reasons" to be bullying.

Though those can and do evolve.

For instance, the vehicles copypasta now (should) have a note near the end about a possible compromise suggestion in terms of temp powers that work like the mission teleporter. That came up purely from discussion OF the stuff in the post. It basically allows all the reinvention of the wheel to be skipped to see if there's a new twist that can be considered.

There is no Forum Cartel. It is not cunningly concealed among the apparently carefree City of Heroes players of the forum, its trolls and lurkers. No one would suggest that its members have a political agenda within and beyond the game. Nor would anyone believe, should it be whispered, that the Forum Cartel collects vast sums of inf and favors in order to further the goals that it doesn’t have. Moreover, an organization that does not exist certainly cannot have the prestige or talent pool to develop its own subtle, social martial arts style.

Conversation Judo does not combine common, everyday movements with potent manipulations of puns and facts in a devastating and nearly invisible manner. It isn’t one of the Forum Cartel’s many sources of secret power. It never sees use in the discussion, arguments and flame wars of the players. People do not die from it, occasionally silently and occasionally screaming, days or weeks after not encountering it.

You mean Golden Ace defining all the new titles?
