we got a third trial to run .. people were screaming for more content because of the repetition with only 2.

They improved buffing for a number of sets to make life easier and let people actually enjoy playing the game again.

We got a new system that will allow us to share threads, A & E Merits etc with our other characters

and your only comment is essentially .. Unfair it will take forever before I can buy the new armor? Don't get me wrong the new shinies look nice and eventually I will acquire them but I am pretty much happy with the 5 outfits I have on my 50 levels now so I'll be slotting other heroes as I can long before I worry about the AURA trailing along behind me.

I know what you mean.. Lag has sort of forced me to stop doing the BAF and about the bast I usually see on the Lmabda is uncommon and OCCASIONALLY a rare .. very very very occasionally. Hopefully that will change but until it does at least we have a lot of new stuff to enjoy.

My problem is that the ones I got are sequential. And worse, they are the new 5s with the bright colors that mess with my eyes and since they are new they tend to stick together when I try and pull out 1 and get like 3 and it would really be better if it just spit out just 1/4 of the number of $20s because they take up less room for the same amount of money and........

It proves two things:

One, buffing is definitely not counted as participation by the participation system in Incarnate Trials and Praetorian Events.
Two, whomever came up with the idea of the flawed participation system and the concept of gating major chunks of advancement behind random rewards is powerful enough in the behind the scenes politics at Paragon Studios to force a change to the buffing system RATHER THAN remove or rework the participation system.
These changes have, for a long time, been asked for by the community and been flatly turned down before. Several times.

Don't fool yourselves. This change was meant to preserve the participation system, not to make life easier for us as players.

You're missing the point. While every lucky stiff who has actually "earned" their incarnate stuff through the RNG system, I've had to spend all my EMP merits to get it. Which means while all the lucky souls who were blessed by RNG get to enjoy the new pretties, I'm stuck STILL grinding my face off on these lag-tastic trials hoping to get lucky AND earn enough merits to catch up. And don't get me wrong. The iTrials are cool. But after the 100th time running them and still getting jack, it gets old fast....

I don't hear any talk about it, but AoE Increase Density is the one I actually like more than AoE Speed Boost - especially since Clear Mind, Enforced Morale, Thaw, Clarity, and Antidote are all missing from the list of powers that were made AoE. A ranged AoE mez protection click? One that also gives some resistance to Smashing and Energy, and the only one that provides KB protection, and already had half the duration of SB anyway? Yes, please. So much more worthwhile now.

The mez protection isn't AoE, alas, though the rest is:

The damage resistance component of the power is being made AOE-affecting, but the status effect protection component is going to still be single-target. The single target click powers which give status effect protection such as Clear Mind were not going to be made AOE wide (for balance purposes), but Increase Density having both facets makes it unique in this case. We are trying to split that difference with our approach.

Even if it isnt an aoe mez protection, the resistance is gives is nearly 40% when slotted for it. I am pretty sure that is the highest resistance protection you can get in the game from a single application. Taking 60% of the damage from the new clockwork? I'm your huckleberry.

Yeah, missed the little clarification since I didn't go all the way through the discussion thread (was more along the lines of "read first few pages of several threads, then post"). Ah well... back to only bothering with ID to break mezzes.

So for Purple or PvP IOs you'll have stupidly high costs of Inf, Alignment Merits, or "Incarnate Merits", take your pick.

It's nice to have options of course, but I wouldn't be thinking they are going to suddenly become cheap or plentiful if I were you.
This is why I didn't get excited.

They are still going to be insanely expensive, regardless of the currency used to purchase them. If they were cheap and easy to obtain, they wouldn't be Very Rare IOs.

If it's not too bad I might save up some to pick up the Armageddon Chance for Fire Damage proc, but that's about it (I don't use purples, because the bonuses they give aren't especially useful to most of my builds)

Personally, I never thought they'd make buffs AoE and was very vocal about it, because I believed it'd either be horribly unbalanced or would come with a drastic reduction in power. I still think it's going to buff the best characters even further and widen the performance gap between buff/debuff and everything else, especially in team play, but as always I'm just going to play what I feel is overpowered at the moment and enjoy it.

Gotta agree on your main point though. First inherent fitness, now this. I expect either server merges or global server access to come around 2012.

You did read the official discusion thread right? He made sure to express how he felt there.

I sincerely hope that they reconsider Speed Boost as an AoE. Some people don't enjoy the extra speed. Perhaps make a pop-up window come up for these new AoE buffs similar to Rez notifications and what-not. That way people can say 'no, I'm an idiot and don't want your helpful buff'

But this AoE-Buff thing is 100% good. There is zero reason to complain about this. Unless your M. Bill and have a problem with progress.

Black Scorpion said in the other thread that they are enabling an option for you to decline all movement buffs from other players. So for AoE Speed Boost, you'd all get the recharge buffs, but not the +runspeed.

edit: post #17771, heh

SB obviously needed to have a pop-up window, the other buffs do not. Speed Boost's +speed can be a killer for low-end computers, the other buffs really don't have that issue, just provide yummy +Resistance/Defense. Speed boost is one of the only powers that people specifically ask NOT to be buffed with.
