Gasp! You mean there was a super-secret eugenics program in the late 1960s, and its sole purpose was to produce Peter Dinklage so he could star in an HBO series based on a book that wasn't written until 1996? How diabolical! But it explains so much!*

Seriously, I'll make it a point to watch The Station Agent soon. Thanks to you and mousedroid for the recommendation.

Good episode. Tyrion was hilarious and Viserys got what he deserved.

I honestly thought Tyrion was going to name the kid (Robin?) as his champion. I imagine there are rules against that (seems it has to be voluntary) but that would've been an interesting twist.

That final scene with the gold crown was brutal. And I think I'm developing a crush on the actress who plays Daenyres (sp?), even though I usually go for brunettes.

I'm tempted to watch the next episode ahead of time, but the thought of ging two weeks without a new episode is stopping me.

Well, she is a brunette IRL.

Harry Lloyd actually had me feeling sorry for Viserys in a way I didn't when I read the book.

My favorite scene? Tyrion tossing the bag of gold to Mord.

I couldn't resist the temptation and watched it. Now I'm even further behind in the book, but it was sooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it. The next episode is great, especially the last 15 seconds. Hands down the best show on TV right now. I smell a lot of emmy's coming from Game of Thrones. HBO rarely disappoints.

My favorite scene/lines from this episode (paraphrased):

(After Bronn best the Eyrie knight in the contest of champions)

Lysa Arryn: You fight without honor!
Bronn (gesturing at the open Moon Door): He did.

Also, when Viserys crashed the party and threatened Daenerys, he said, "They can't shed blood in their holy city," ("they" being the Dothraki). I thought to myself, "Fool, there are multitudes of ways to kill someone without shedding blood." And sure enough, none of Viserys' blood was shed.

Another great episode, and nice to see the story getting so much forward momentum.

I was expecting that he was going to die horribly sooner rather than later...I just didn't expect him to go in that manner. Ick.

What I liked most about this episode: They totally established Bronn's character even though he only got like two lines. Well, and Tyrion was in it. Any episode is that Tyrion is in is automatically awesome by virtue of Tyrion being in it. I am loving the actor they picked to play him.

Edit: Anyone else find the scene with Theon and his favorite *ahem* lady leaving totally gratuitous? It's like they're obligated to have at least some nudity in every episode.

Also ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE BOOKS***

A ditzy teenager's hissy fit is the spark that sets off the whole ****storm. This makes me laugh. It just became so much funnier watching it than it was when I read the book.

That's because it's not TV, it's HBO! That said, there's a lot of nudity in the books, too--especially those chapters with Tyrion and Daenerys. I think it [the gratuitous nudity] pays homage to the original material.

Friends of mine broke down and got HBO.go and have already seen episode 7. Without telling me what happens, they have told me that, yes, it is as unbelievably awesome as HBO has hyped it to be. One friend of mine watch it 4 times in 2 days. He also said he'd stack up this one episode against anything else HBO has ever produced (and that's really saying something, as HBO has done some remarkable shows with some outstanding single episodes).

I'm resisting the urge, because I hate the thought of watching such a beautifully made series on a small screen. I'm looking forward to Sunday night.

It didn't detract from the episode at all.

And fyi to anyone on the service, comcast/xfinity users have access to the episode as well. I was about to download HBO.go myself until I realized we already had access.

Just got access to HBO and I started this show since the ads looked interesting. Never read the books. In fact I've not watched that much HBO before, so when I first was watching this, I was surprised at the blatant nudity, sexual content and blood, guts etc,. took me a moment to sort of remind myself, "yup, it's an HBO show alright."

That said I'm hooked. I started watching yesterday and I have caught up through all of the first 6-7 episodes so far. Solid acting, good writing, great story so far, just loving it. Can't wait for more.

Hehe, just watched the end of the episode "golden crown"... All I can say about the golden crown... "Totally metal."

In some history course I took way back when, I remember hearing that one of the Spanish conquistadors was captured by native Central Americans, and was killed by having molten gold poured down his throat, so "he could have his fill of gold". I've been Googling about it and it may not be a true story but still...ouchie.

That sounds ironically horrible.

Watched "You win or you die." Good episode, but not great. Feeling bad for Ned right about now, the man doesn't understand how reality works, too into his own honor.

Well that will be 4 or 5 seasons (at least) from now. My guess is they will end the show with the books which I believe is slated to be 7 books and from the sound of it, some of the later books will likely be more than one season. So I don't really see that (breaking too far or going past the books) happening.

Just finished the first book. Love, love, loved it! Couldn't put it down. Now I'm torn, I've had the new Sookie Stackhouse book since it was released a few weeks ago, but I'm dying to tear into Game of Thrones sequal. Decisions, decisions.

Give in to the Clash of Kings. Join me in embracing in the win. (I just finished the first book a week ago and have gotten halfway through Clash of Kings.)

Possibly. Storm would needed to be done in two seasons I believe. Feast can be one, cause of what was done in it.

Also if Dance is the same depth content as Storms (not page wise), it will be split into two seasons.

They cast the bad guy from Last Action Hero as Tywin Lannister. Brilliant.

I like that they're playing up Theon Greyjoy's dissatisfaction with being effectively a hostage of the Starks. I wonder how this will come into play in the future... (and yes, I know exactly how it comes into play in the future)
