You are not Level 51.
I use it because I'm level 51.
I mean, it only takes one more point of XP after level 50. How are you not level 51 by now?
Why get riled up about it when for all intents and purposes it's the same thing?
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Ah, nothing like some good 'ol pedantry to start the day, right?
If it says level 50 +1, that means I'm level 51.
I'm not going to fall for the dev's hamfisted attempt at trying to avoid adding more levels to the game with this whole "level shift" BS. I'm level 51, when the next incarnate slot gives me another level shift I'll be level 52 and so on.
You want to say you're a level 50 +1 or a level-shifted character? Then go for it. I won't.
You are not level 51. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

Seriously. I don't understand why people think they are level 51. Just die and your 'level' goes poof. This alone should be proof you're not a higher level.
Other than (+N) being slightly more time consuming to type there is no reason to not use the correct syntax. Could anyone explain to me why people claim to be level 51? /rant |

So I'd say (+50, +1, +2) or, to simply things, we could say (50, 1, 2) assuming that unless noted otherwise, a value is positive.
Hmmm... A character who runs the Apex trial without an alpha slot equipped, would that be a (50,-4,0) character or a (46,0,0) character?
Edit: Actually, I think it's better expressed as just (level, level shift) and the level shift is content dependent as well as incarnate slot dependent.
I'm 51...durn it. I've waited for that for years.
I'm 51!
Here' s my /b:
51 blaster/scrapper/stalker lf <WSF goes here>

Nope, I'm level 50(+1)
Why do I say this instead of level 51?
Because when someone SKs to me, they are level 49, not level 50 as they be would SKed to a real level 51.
When I set my difficulty to +0, the enemies spawn as level 50s instead of 51s like they would if I were really level 51.
A level 50 SO does not get less effective when I get that +1 added.
The window at the top right of my screen says I'm level 50, not level 51.
All of those things add up as conclusive proof that I am NOT level 51. Because those are all things affected by your level, and they remain completely unaffected by the little (+1) that pops up when you acquire a level-shift.
I also did not get a new power or more slots, and my hit points and mez protection (if any is present) did not go up.
For all intents and purposes you are simply being artificially sidekicked to a level 52.

If I see someone broadcast as "Level 50+1 lft" I know they are level 50 with a +1 level shift.
If I see someone broadcast as "Level 51 lft" I know they are level 50 with a +1 level shift.
I'm not seeing an issue here particularly. I know what they mean either way.

See?
I guarantee that anyone who is familiar with the incarnate system knows exactly what is meant when someone says level 51 LFT. So as long as saying level 51 gets the right message across, who gives a crap?
You know what? At the moment, I generally say T(X) with (X) being whatever tier of the alpha slot the character has, but from now on I vow to say level 51 just because it pisses you off. Who's with me?
Anyone else got anything ridiculous they wanna argue about?

Reminds me of how people get upset when you say "toon" instead of avatar or character. People know what you are talkng about either way, let it go.
While it's no big deal to say one is '51' rather the '50+1' it is a big deal to think one actually is level 51... one is not.
If you're Level 50 and you fight Kraken who is in reality a Level 15 Giant Monster (though its /info doesn't reveal that), then because of the damage scaling code for GMs, 'the purple monster code', you attack Kraken as if you were Level 15. But, who would say while fighting Kraken, "I'm now level 15!" You're not. You still have all the attacks and HP of someone who is Level 50 -- you are not fully exemplared down like you would be on a Positron TF (and even then, you have access to Level 20 powers).
And so, if you're Level 50+1, you attack foes as if you were Level 51. You get attacked as if you were Level 51. But in every other way, you're still Level 50.
