The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra

Saw this the other day. Fan artists got it right! And it looks good. That dual-wielding...

Looks kinda like Sokka... and Katara.

The obvious answer is Katara + Aang baby but I think they said that'd be the Tenzin guy. So it'd be a neat twist if it was Sokka's daughter/granddaughter that became the next Avatar since he got to be mostly useless throughout the show.

It would be nice if she wasn't directly related to anyone from the Gaang. I do rather dislike that whole trope of, "Here's some characters who saved the world. They're also related to these people, who also saved the world." The idea that everyone who influences the world either knows or is related to one another is a trite storytelling mechanic.

From what I've read, she's born in the Water Tribe. She's mastered Earth, Fire and Water, but still learning Airbending from Aang and Katara's son, Tenzin.

The plastic tips at the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister.

You mean the Skywalker Phenomenon?

1) At least the Xanth series has a good reason why! :P (Need to pick up the newer books...)

2) There would have to be a connection to the old gang somewhere if just for Korra to learn Airbending.

Useless as in being perhaps the most relatable member of the gang, due to being the regular guy amongst a team of super-powered child prodigies and, despite this, managing to still face the odds and fearlessly fight on a regular basis? Or being the task manager and leader that kept the group from being just a couple of kids adventuring and being distracted by everything they see? Or finding the Fire Nation's weakness then, with that information, organizing the entire invasion on the Fire Nation Capital, while also inventing both the hot air balloon and the submarine? Or managing to organize a strike on the Fire Lord's fleet of ten-times-more-powerful-than-normal firebender-manned airships, destroying them before they burned the Earth entirely? Or useless as in being the much needed comic relief of the team during their most serious moments, such as the desert or during Aang's earthbending training?

There is no good reason for Xanth.

I like.

Except the title that's just dumb.

The last Airbender? She's a waterbender...
Why not call it just Avatar: Legend of Korra? It's more consistent with the previous series.

Because they don't want people to expect blue space elves?

Yea, I considered that, then threw it overboard for being a dumb reason.

Dante Basco, the voice actor of Prince Zuko, is also working on Korra. He's not playing Zuko again, but someone who is related to Zuko is some way. Most logical guess is Zuko's son or grandson, who would likely be the Firelord in Korra's time (or the next heir).

Nice, also heard that Nick ordered an additional 14 more episodes on top of the original 12 set to air. Can't wait to see this air.

Hey I actually recognize a couple names on that list of voices.

Interesting to see David Faustino on the lift of voice actors. Not that there's any problem with that, I've always had a bit of a celebrity crush on the rugrat.

I just wonder if I'll ever be able to hear his character's dialog without picturing Bud Bundy saying it.

You know, blaster with a sword secondary would be cool... Or martial arts...

No real surprise there. They'd be fools not to order more.

Lately I've been thinking that, despite what the creators say, the Avatar isn't exactly a reincarnating soul, more like an Exalted Essence that chooses a soul to bound with a moves on when its previous vessel dies. At least given how Aang sometimes seems to interact with the previous Avatars in ways that could be called more than just memories of their personalities.
