I'm coming in disguise this year. Better if no-one knows who I am.

And sure, I'm not going to be glued to my screen all day. I'd say let's have a think about events first and ensure that there will be enough free terminals to do them on.

What kind of things would people like to see run at this years event?

Last year we had some in-game costume competitions and such. So we could do another one of those, possibly with a theme.

This year I was thinking we could maybe do a prize for the person that turns up in the best costume (or that dares show up in costume ), although in saying that I know a lot of guys in-game who play girls.... *shudder*

Possibility of an all night TF event, if someone would like to run one? I know a few people have expressed a wish to do some kind of all-night event. (no +4 x8 teams )

Ideas are welcome! I want everyone to have a good time

Ooooh Fastest completion time for *ALL* the Shadow Shard, and Cavern of Trancendance aaaand the Sewer Trial... (ok, maybe slighly biased, as i have never done them and i need the badges).

Maybe a few more of the trials to round out my sets

Hmm....

TF Races as these can be done as server vs server

Death Race for Level 1's involving collecting exploration badges from each zone. You could even do it as a "Top Gear" style challenge where we have a leaderboard at the event posting the fastest times over the weekend. A death race could be set up for each area - Paragon, Rogue Isles and Praetoria and the winner is the one with the lowest combined time for all three! A "City of Triathalon" Event!!

Small question since i've NEVER been to an event like this. When we arent at the computers is there an area to just relax and chat to everybody?
Sorry if it seems obvious but i really have no idea what to expect in that scenario.

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Yes, its called the pub....

Actually, as i missed out on the last one, i might not be the best one to answer.

There's a half decent pub within walking distance of the place and it does decent food too.

There's not really that much room in the actual place itself, but there's plenty of pubs/restaurants just around the corner. There's also fast food places for those that like chatting over a burger instead lol, or assorted coffee shops for the die hard caffeine addict With it being in Internet Cafe they don't mind you snacking and drinking by the computers either, so long as you don't make too much of a mess

Last year people tended to wander around and chat to other people at the computers, then head out en mass to grab food from one of the nearby places, or Tesco's.

I'll be taking the train. I'm hoping for a train without to many changes from my local station at Diss

Will have to wait to see, when the new timetable is out

I think I'll be going to Brum Saturday I hope to get in mid morning and going back home Monday( the beauty of taking early retirement).

Hmm... Unlikely I can wrangle my computer to Brum. >.< OTOH, I can always turn up anyway, I guess.
The last one was a blast, so if I can turn up I'm liable to stick around for both days. Hotels? Nah, just forget sleep and game more. =4

Also, this means I'll have to get in game now and then, doesn't it?

In your dreams, I'll still be there with all the days that never came.
And I'll be just a story.
That's ok, we're all stories in the end...

Haven't seen you in game for a while oh Seffs of the squeaks and chitters

Depending on the 'maybes' that turn up there should be enough computers to go around too (okay, maybe one or two folks sharing but we'll see!)

Looks like i'll be aquiring a train, as I don't want to torture my brother with two (approximate) 6-hour drives. I'll be sure to pack maps, as it a) Takes me ages to get anywhere or b) I do't get to where I need to be :P

I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...

I pop in now and then, usually lurking.

I'm just not feeling a CoH vibe at the moment, which is a shame as the community's awesome. Which is why I really liked the last meet.

That and I'm still playing World of Tanks after being shown it there. x.x

This is more like an SG meet not a EU Players Meet. You should rename this the local UK Players meet.
Honestly, you might be better off meeting in a Marriott or something. This event will blow that poor local cybercafe out of the water.

Local players? What you mean those who are travelling from Newcastle, Brighton, Cardiff (and even a couple of possible from Europe).

Is the location a problem for you?

If it is, then try to find a *central* location where many people can easily get to it (There was a larger location in Halesowen BUT not easily accessible, especially for those in wheelchairs... and with only one place within walking distance to stay).

Is it the time of month that was available?

If it is, then fair enough, but I know the organiser wanted to avoid bank holidays (due them already being booked and unable to shift UNLESS you wanted to shift the booking of 5000 other players). So *some* self interest was here... but we also wanted it to be possible for some NCSoft staffers to show up.

We *KNOW* that they cannot make most of the weekends in August due to Games Conventions.

Is it because *most* of the players who showed up seemed to be from RP side of the game?

Well... it was 1st of all notified in the RP channels to gauge interest, and those who were interested are down already...

Now, saying that THIS is on the main EU board (NOT server specific board) so anyone who is interested can put their name down and show up.

Oh, as an idea....

Last years player meet was also held in the same location, organised by the same person.

Thanks for being so caring.

Well, I could rename it that, but the folks coming to the meet aren't really local, half don't even play on the same servers or team with each other as far as I'm aware Plus it's open to anyone from the EU community that would like come along.

As for hosting it at a Marriott or other hotel we'd have a teeny bit of a problem holding the in-game costume competitions, the all night TF's and other things that are being planned for this years event.

The cybercafe isn't actually local to me at all, but Birmingham is a nice central location for people to be able to get to with public transport/airport and motorways. They managed fine with us last year They even said we can go back this year lol.

It's a pity that Omega Sektor shut down, as that place would have been ideal - loads of space and literally just around the corner from GlobalGaming, more computers etc, but there just aren't that many cybercafe's left it seems, well not in such a central location. I did look at running the event at another gaming place in the Birmingham area, but it's a little out of the way and more expensive whereas this place is right in the city centre with all the shops, cafe's, hotels and transport links. There are probably a few places down in London, but I really can't travel that far due to my disability.

Btw, I think there's a difference in terms between 'local' US and 'local' EU... local for us is the same town, or a short bus/car journey to somewhere less than an hour away.

Out of our part of the forums you bloody troll. Let us have our fun, don't stick your nose in our things.

How many were there last year? It just seems like a cybercafe is too small for such an event...
