I agree, Sam.
Along with flat, I think the animal fur would be great on Large Boots, for certain.
To be perfectly honest, I'd rather not see it limited at all. Put it on spiked, put it on banded, put it on a whole bunch/all of them and let the user make the choice (for the most part).
That sort of freedom has gotten us this far. Seems like a good thing.
I wonder if I should put my bullet point list I posted in the ATA thread in this thread.

It seems to me that most savage types of characters would wear things of similar nature: loin clothes, belt bra types for females, dangly bone arm bracers or wrist/ankle bracers with dangling bones. ALso bead lookin stuff.
I'm reminded of the Wild Nacatl from Magic the Gathering.
In fact I think I'm going to make this character with dual blades using those short daggers. It'd be awesome if later on down the road we get this kind of garb.
Notice how the loin cloth is actually very similar on the back side to the hip-capes the widows have, it should be rather easy to manipulate to form this.
And I'd like to add that we need Animal Fur not JUST for Flat boots, but also for Smooth/Bare gloves, as well as Large and Bare boots and gloves.

But hey, I'll put my vote in for more feather textures too! Got a few avian characters out there. Would love to see feather textures, tail, shoulders, chest piece, etc. Basically anywhere you can get Plant textures and the Plant extras there should be Feathers too. I say that because I use Plant textures and extras (hair, shoulders, etc) to fake feathers.

And the metallic skin added to the animal heads (and claws!) would be awesome. Robo-Griffen. Brilliant!
Edit: Just realized if you combined a leopard skin coat with the metallic skinned animal bits, you've got your self a perfect Rockabilly Robo-Griffen! Love it!
Ok, haven't read this entire thread yet, so forgive me if this has been brought up before.
Seems to me Beast Run power should also have some sort of wing animation. Considering CoH wings don't fold up neatly, seems to me winged 'beastial' characters would still move their wings about as they ran on all fours.

Personally I'm king of disappointed that were still stuck with the dinky kitty tails. Good for catgirls and the like but not for anything with externally mounted reproductive organs not to mention the wild/were type. They need to be longer thicker and heavier. The tail should be long enough that it would be touching the ground if it didn't curl up at the end.
Why do the cats and wolfs all look like there going to eat me. Is it to hard to make a version with there mouths closed?
And while I like the new animal feet douse having them mean we have to walk around bare foot. Some sandals, armored boots, or even some greaves for the miniataure would look nice.
It's a very good pack but I can't help but think that it could have bin even better if they let us in more on the development. Like early on, pre-production, even loose sketch stage we could better point out things that we would not bother mentioning thinking that you had already though of them.
Edit: An organic armor version of the monster feet would be very good.
I think it is about time that we get something that isn't a three-taloned abomination of an animal. I have been making the most detailed animals I possibly can, but now I can finally have true animals.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Subjective Feedback:
I also find the avian heads too small relative to the body proportions. In addition to feathered textures, we need a taloned hand glove option and a bird tail. I've been wanting to make a griffon-styled character for years and need the foreparts of an eagle and the hindparts of a lion. For me, that would mean eagle-styled head, chest and hands and leonid legs, feet and tail.
The animation for beast run didn't always match the movement speed to my eye. It made it look like a stationary figure in a looped animation while the surroundings scrolled past, rather than a figure moving through its environment. Also, the wing-beats on the descent arc of a jump seemed more rapid than they might need to be.
The Animal Fur texture needs to show up in every menu that has Monstrous Fur.

I'm sure they've got enough votes to hear you by now. I'm also certain that they were probably planning on it for the next animal pack. If not, they probably are now.
Objective feedback: I was disappointed that a beastly claws option wasn't added to the Claws weapon choices and that a bare foot with claws option wasn't added to Boots.
Subjective feedback: I love Beast Run! It's something that I have been wanting to see for the longest time and it doesn't disappoint!
I'd like to see more human/animal hybrid heads (i.e. feline face) that include similar customization as the current beast heads. And a prehensile monkey style tail would be great too!

I just patched up again. Today's patch doesn't appear to have fixed any of the big problems:
objective:
(1) no animal fur on 'flat' boots, just 'smooth' (with heels)
(2) beast run backward running has no transition to backward jump
subjective:
(3) the new cat/wolf faces still don't have options with closed mouths. I've just tried playing on a character who has its mouth open all the time. It just doesn't work. I know concept artists love snarls and emotes, but concept art is a snapshot. We've got to play with it over the long haul. At least the bird and bull heads have closed mouths.
We could also do with the animal faces available as a mask/mask with hair option...
This would allow for the faces with hats etc.
Please note I said faces, meaning plain head like Ninja, Sightless, Grin, etc. with the face part of the animal heads.
Then we would have Pure Animal and Animal with gear options.
The Shoulders Spiked Collar option doesn't work with the animal heads, which is a missed opportunity, there should be a Large version that suits Monstrous and Animal heads.
This also looks like a missed opportunity to give everyone the Magic Bolero style Fur Shoulder piece.
Additionally we still need a lot of patterns for the boot options including monstrous and flat/bare.
The costume creator needs a lot of options tidying up into their categories...
All pure animal heads into an Animal Head category, Combos like Clockwork & Clockwork W/Pad, both need to be under the Clockwork item as two 'pattern' options, the same with Enforcer Light and Heavy, etc.
Sadly no bird tail, it could of been a static straight feather tail until the PC jumped or flew when it could of fanned out. (Rocketboot style flying animation.)
This could get added as a craftable recipe ingame however.

3) Actual Claws for the Claw powerset - I'm sure it's something everyone thought about, even for a moment when they heard of the animal pack, at least the people I talked to.

The Good:
* Beastly Rage aura reduced down to just the breath effect is awesome. Never realized how long over due an effect like that was for our characters! Great job.
* The Minotaur Tail looks great. One of the best animated tails in game.
* The three beak options are good
* The feathers in the /cce's are gorgeous
* The /e savage emote is awesome, the others are pretty good too
* The Minotaur Head overall is quite good in its range of customization except... leading into the bad
The Bad:
* That same Minotaur head has weird divots where the horns were when trying to make a plain cow
* Disappointed that none of the new patterns, Leopard especially, didn't make it onto any of the standard capes
* Disappointed that there are no additional patterns for the bird heads
* The fur /cce's seem pretty lackluster IMO
* [Beast Run] though welcome is no where near as smooth and sharp as [Ninja Run]. Kind of let down on this one. The idle is great. But the transition animations feel rough. Was anticipating some sort of unique backward movement or at least the backward jump after the great touches in NR

Those old shoulder and chest Fur options put back in the game
Zombie feet as 'bare feet' are infinitely suprerior to regular boot shaped bare feet. This should be the model for bare feet and.....the model you put fur options on when not using the monstrous bottom options. That's been naggin me for years.
No Simian parts? I remember a large, all Simian group on Infinity when I started playing in '05. It's 2011. No Simian parts? It's not like people want them.

Very disapointing. Everybody seems to make a cat or a wolf, but what about birds? One head? really? no feather patterns, no tail, no new wings.....
appears to be very last minute. Certainly wont be wasting my money being another generic feline.
I just want to say that I miss having hands for feet like a big ape. I guess they would look weird without a bowlegged gorilla stance. Other than that it seems fine, almost all the stuff I asked for when suggesting an animal pack was put in. Four of my characters eagerly await their update.

Just checked my training room client after not logging in since this first went to test. Looks like a several meg patch is applying.
Any of this update related to the animal pack? Anything more we should be testing and looking over?
Edit to add: version number according to updater is: 1950.201102100129.1
I think it's just the same patch they applied to live on Tuesday. It was a fix for the monstrousness loading times several of us were experiencing.
