Animal Pack - Feedback Thread
Subjective:
Overall I feel Beast Run needs another pass, I'll venture out and say that the one thing I liked about a certain other game was the POSE the female beast run had when idle. It was useful for the characters that can turn from savage to refined in short amounts of time. If there's anything I'd give feedback on specifically, I'd say that beast run feels very close to decent, but needs more polish, the jumps and what not feel cut and copied or lackluster.
The overall pieces feel like a cheat to those that honestly should have known better then to think 60 pieces meant for each skeleton. I mean cheat as in I still have the underlying feeling this is the work of someone who didn't quite want to do this. But thats my paranoia, the textures are very nice in regards to resolution at least on my screen.
I was honestly expecting some decent ears that don't just yell "FURRY" to even the most laid back RPer. We can hope based on the progress we've gained so far that the gate of "No furry stuff we'll get more as time goes along.
The emotes for changing costume are nicely put together but honestly, it feels like someone just kinda threw a dart at an idea board with with the non feather ones. (A high light in the video seems to draw on the feather emotes)
The auras, made me both laugh and cringe in the end. The moment I saw fleas i was a bit puzzled, they seem a bit large, and almost other worldy! Though that may work for some it might hinder others. Though who ever heard of a hero with fleas :P A villain, maybe o.0
The other one makes me happy if I ever go into an ice zone! I like how it's focused on the breathing if you just tag it to do so. Otherwise the eye option seems very very useful in other toons I can think of off the top of my head.
The character emotes make me somewhat happy, though i agree with some we need them to be looped and non-looped perhaps. The fact there's little use for the monkey emote makes me think it was meant as an inside joke as I can't seem to think of a decent way to make a monkey o.@
Overall after checking things out I must at this juncture submit a "Meh, seems ok" with nod to the progress in regards to specific genres of hero and villains this takes us in. I can only hope this opens the doors to other such "niche" areas of costumes
Regards,
-C.A.
Subjective Feedback : Beast Run - too bad it can't be left on and/or slotted to offset the end drain. Going into battle with it on is very cool looking. To go from a Beastly crouch/run to fully standing up to fight and travel from spawn to spawn seems out of character.

There is no Boots/Flat/Animal Fur option. Boots/Smooth/Animal Fur does exist. This is an important bug to fix because Boots/Flat/Animal Fur is the best way for us to use our kilts with furry legs. (Really, this is the only one I expect that you will fix before release.) |
The animal fur options for boots are only found on smooth (which have heels) and not on Flat. ... Smooth/Bare Gloves also do not have an animal fur option and probably should, no? Instead, you have to use Monstrous Gloves (which, is not so bad, of course). |
Beast run needs a bit more "beast" when you're jumping. Cats jump with their front paws out in front of them, and their rear legs stretched behind them while in the air, and then the paws come together at the landing. Could the animators work that in instead of jumping from just the hind legs? What we have now seems bland compared to the Ninja Run with it's flipping movements as the character jumps.
It also really needs some sort of snarling or grunting noise that plays as you run. Again...more "beast" in the Beast Run. I like it, but it just needs more.
Suggestion for future emotes: /e scratch. Furry things get itchy. If you're gonna have a fleas aura, scratching should be part of it. Maybe make it an idle animation while Beast Run is active?
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
first off id like to say.....i didnt read the rest of the posts :-P
animal pack needs more feathers and a badger head.

I didn't get a chance to explore too many of the options last night. But I was wondering if there is a "paws" leg option as opposed to "claws"?
Feedback is important to our development process, there are two types of feedback and both are helpful although some give us more insight and are more easily adapted into game changes.
Objective Feedback: Objective feedback is based upon what you as a user see or experience that other users may also see and experience. This feedback usually can be replicated easily as it involves facts and unbiased opinions. Example: When using the base editor items are sometimes getting caught in columns or pillars. Subjective Feedback: Subjective feedback is based upon how you feel or experience the game as yourself. This experience may not necessarily be replicated because it is based on feeling and emotion. Subjective feedback is important to us but it is usually helpful if more information is present to describe what and why you feel the way you do. Example: I like the way the graphics look on my shield animation it gives me the feeling of being truly super-powered. |
Subjective Feedback:
- Female monstrous legs are extremely ridiculous looking. Something is wrong with the scaling. I know it's supposed to be based on something like this, but it just doesn't look right when standing upright.
- The heads are all too small at default slider positions.
- You need to add secondary tones to the head options to allow for more customization (CoX is a game built on customization, remember?).
- Can we get some non-snarling faces for Wolves/Cats? The cat heads kind of make me laugh. They can't seem to decide whether they're snarling or smiling.
- Add Animal Fur option to the Flat feet section. Whoever let this out the door should probably have a talking to.

When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...
BEHOLD THE POWER OF CHEESE!
Subjective: The pack looks great and had a lot of fun with beast run, well look better on a lot of my toons then ninja. The pack has a few flaws, but I'm just going to not get my hopes up for any changes, but keep my fingers crossed you do the changes before release.
Objective: A few more options for wolf heads would be nice colors more so, plus a fox option would be nice. and the wolf head needs to scale up on huge models. That is all from me.
Why? Because both limit what sort of character this could be applied to. Beast Run, if it is cleaned up, could be great for hunter-killer type cyborgs and rooftop raiders ala Daredevil and Spiderman in addition to being a natural choice for more beastial characters.
My $.02 on the topic.
Just a sort of /e crouch for the idle for beast run would be better in my opinion.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Subjecttive feedback specific to costume pieces only:
The good: The model options are great and look very spot on for what they represent. They are beautiful, and by themselves a wonderful addition.
The bad: They look great, but everyone who has a said beast head looks just like everyone else who has the same beast head. (With the exception of color choice)
The wolf head for example. Have 10 characters who may happen to use the same grey and white color combinations, and you have 10 characters whose face looks identical. There is nothing else that can be done to make the head more unique at the moment.
The suggestion: The human head(s) have the Added category of "Detail 1" and 2 and for some 3. These are mix and match additions to add some individuality to the human heads. Sunglasses, Beards or facial hair, A cigar, Tiaras, and so forth.
Is it possible to give these various beast heads at least a detail 1, and fill it with items that can be easily ported over with little or no additional work? Perhaps some of the sunglasses, or monocles, maybe the fu-man-chu? I can accept it may not be a direct port and may require some adjustment to work with these new heads, but I would like even a handful detail 1 options that I can use to give my beast head a little more uniqueness and individuality that can help set me apart from other beast heads besides color.
In short... I don't want to look like everyone else with a beast head cause I picked one.
Beyond this is the wish and hope that possible detail 1 options could be some of the human male/female (per approrpriate model) hair styles that would fit nicely with the given beast head. Not every beast need be without some unique aspect to their head to set them apart, and part of that could be the fact they have human like hair even though they have a cat like face, or wolf like... and so on.
I hope this idea has merit and is somewhat easy to add in. If not now, then perhaps later.
I just wanna be my own special snowflake. :P

Query: t-shirt with stripes as seen here
Is this an option (with or without image)? EU test has moved up to version 2000. |
Speaking of monstrous legs, and this has been mentioned before (Well everything I say has been mentioned before but figured it best to add one more voice for what it is worth), I assume it was another technical issue that keeps us from having to resort to monstrous legs for the claws and talons. This would be fine if I could still use pants with tatters and such. I found myself wishing I could make the character look like he just transformed and his clothes ripped and shredded due to it, but I couldn't. Again that's probably a technical issue, so I will just work around it.
As for the quote, I agree how do we get the stripes or spots to show up on the arms with the t-shirt option? I don't care to have orange arms and then go back into tiger stripe "gloves". Am I overlooking something or what? Also....I was really hoping to have that shirt lol. It's one casual shirt that I could see my characters wearing. Any chance we can have that added in before the release?
The costume change emotes look great to me, especially the feathers. Though I don't know if it was just me or lag or whatever, but a friend pointed out that on /cce Feather burst that my change was after the flash not during.
I didn't realize until late last night the scaling did look a bit off, but I can deal with that. But adding the new patterns to capes would be nice.
The /e savage emote does beg the question of why when there are no monkey/ape pieces, but I can only hope that means there is a Monkey/Ape pack down the road as the Reptile/Dinosaur pack was hinted at, which makes me hope there will be a deep sea pack so I can get a shark head as well down the road.
Coloring options for Grey Wolf and the Eagle head would be nice too. I hate having two colors to choose yet, in truth I only have one. Customization has been what lured me into this game, and it has been the one of main things keeping me here. Please don't skimp on the customization possibilities.
Bit longer than I expected but, still wanted to add my voice. I didn't bring up everything, cause a lot of suggestions and feed back I do tend to agree with here.
*wishes that we could use skirts and shorts with the monstrous leg option*
Oh please please please.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!
*wishes that we could use skirts and shorts with the monstrous leg option*
Oh please please please. |
For reference, they have an insect boot options for normal tights pants. Can we have the cat/worf/bird version of this so we can have non-beast legs (aka human style legs not digigrade) that end with animal paws.
Having matching glove options would be cool too, but I am afraid of asking for to much. The very least I feel the beast paws boots version is pretty important as an option.
This may placate those persons who want skirts/shorts, different pants and armor types that have beast paws in some fashion.

While I love this pack like I would my first born child, I would love to see work on some more animals like rodents, ampibians and maybe some aquatic animals.
I don't see myself fully using the animal features as much as I see myself mixing beast run on a clockwork model to simulate an robotic animal. Maybe down the line we can get a robot tail. (When I get home, I'll post some pics)
I overall do love this pack and it is one of my favorite since Ninja Run and The Magic Pack.

This T-shirt NEEDS to be an extra in this pack!
Subjective: tiny feet, big heads.
The heads are quite big but the feet, oh the tiny nimble toes on non-huge. I only use the three-toed version on huge builds because they do look rather delicate on male and female. I would also support exposed toes as a boot option. Subjective: three colours, not two. Something I have in Champions is the ability to get the tiger pattern right and it's right with the head: white, orange and black are possible and I would like to be able to colour my chest white while having the orange and black around it. |
If it was still here, I'd link to the post I made way back in 2006/07 in Jay's thread about costume parts and not having a t-shirt with animal patterns (or any other patterns besides the pre-made tatoo shirt). Add this in and I will buy it for that alone. To me it represents a six-year dream.

The Wolf Heads and Bird Heads do not look right. They look to be too small, especially the female heads.
It reminds me of the shrunken head guy in Beetlejuice.
When it comes to boots and gloves, Animal Fur textures exist for only two categories - Monstrous Hands and Smooth Boots. This is not sufficient. Animal Fur should also be available for:
Smooth/Bare Gloves
Folded Gloves
Flared Gloves
Spiked Gloves
Finned Gloves
Large Gloves
Banded Gloves
Folded Boots
Flared Boots
Spiked Boots
Finned Boots
Large Boots
Banded Boots
Flat Boots
Stilettos
Platforms
A couple of years ago, I created Pandala:
I'd like to switch from Tights to Animal Fur to better represent a panda, but the Animal Fur textures are unavailable for Large boots and gloves. Please add them there.
Beyond that:
Animal Heads on women are too small, and that's also a problem with the original Monster heads. Animal heads also disregard face sliders outside of the three main head sliders. Can they be hooked to the other sliders, as well?
There is no "fur" option for hooves, which means making an ostensibly furred bovine becomes difficult because the hooves take skin colour, which is intentionally designed to mismatch costume colours. Could you please add either a furred option to them, or at the very least a version of Hooves that takes costume colours so we can match them to our fur a little better?
The Bull head needs either another colour pattern mask that makes the whole face a single colour, or otherwise needs to take and use two colours so we can change the colour of the white nose.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
*edit*
Oh, one more thing: Cane we PLEEEASE get some of the Monster/Animal feet options adapted to regular leg styles like Tights, Tights with Skin, Baggy, Kilts, Skirts and Shorts and so on? We already have a double of the Insect feet like that.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Request:
Can we get a shiny metallic skinned version of the new animal heads and parts? They would make great robots or animal-shaped armor and helmets.

I think we could use animal fur option for "flat" feet or boot options.
Also, wolf feet?
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?" - The Joker
I'd like to second, third, or whatever the call for animal fur on Boots/Flat. They look ridiculous under smooth (like fur boots which I suppose is fine if you want fur boots). Boots/Flat/Animal Fur would approximate a bare foot look for furries that don't want to use the monstrous lower body. Please get this option into the release
After sleeping on it, Beast Run still feels very unfinished to me.
That's why it's on Test now, for feedback to polish it up.
