Animal Pack - Feedback Thread

Beast Run looks like crap. Anthropoid skeleton is not meant to move like that, forcing it just looks sloppy.--MY OPINION, Share yours.

The lack of Animal fur texture for bare feet/flat for the regular legs sucks.
I have a Panda Bear outfit that I would love to use Animal fur options on but I can't because the bare/flat feet options lack the Animal fur option.

The female wolf head is slightly deep in the chest when standing normally.
While this might be a problem for the people who will be endlessly in beast run, some of us like our animal toons to stand up like the anthropoid skeleton is supposed to. It makes it look cut under when using Armored chest options.

The bird heads are great, but there is no feathered option for bodies.

There is no menu space that I can see for the new emotes.

The Emote /em Savage does not fit with the rest of the pack at all, due to a lack of simian parts.

Feather Spin and Burst seem to work best if you have white feathers. Otherwise it looks a bit odd.

Aura - Beastly Rage: No Body and Eyes selection available, no Body selection available. (Full Body and Eyes gives you the chest glow and the breath, Body and Head gives you the breath.)
There are no EYE options for the new beast head options.
This is on purpose as it would be impossible to line them up.

This was on a non-beast head character, female to be precise, they had eye and head options, but the combinations I was seeking (And which are needed, really) did not exist.

Subjective; Please make the Huge body Wolf head the same as the Male body one. The Huge one, currently, looks different. And not in a good way. It just scales really, really badly IMO.

Oh, and yes please to giving Grey Wolf option two-tone, even if its the wrong build for a fox

Wow, that looks cool. Is that running on all fours? that's running on all fours!
I have a bunch of characters that this stuff would work better than the original animal heads.
Cool animal stuff, but it sucks that the wolf tail was in the Mutant Pack. I would definately get it if had the wolf tail, but it was in the Mutant Pack. Oh, wait...it does have wolf's tail.

Crafty Devs, you sold me on this one!

This is both what "...a user see or experience that other users may also see and experience" and "how you feel or experience the game as yourself."

Thanks.

This is honestly the greatest thing that I have seen out of this game since the AE ...and I can't see how it will end up being exploited in the same horrendous and on-going manner.

Objective - I'm surprised this hasn't come up yet... but when using Beast Run on a female character, I am getting the male voice for grunts and such.

Also, I have to agree that the jumping just doesn't look quite right... but what is worse is jumping backwards. Like with walking and Ninja Run, the character has visually changed their orientation when running 'backwards,' but the jump backwards is EXACTLY the same. Which means the character is suddenly facing forward when they jump, and suddenly facing backward again when they land. Not smooth or really practical at all.

Subjectively - I like the pack. I still wish we could put additional head adornments on some of these heads (alas, my Hell Hound, your horns are still not possible.) I do agree that some additional patterns for the wolf head would be appreciated... Still, I think this pack is worth the investment.

The emotes Hiss and Sniff animate into the normal non beast mode idle stance and not the beast mode idle stance. Is there anyway to get those animations to use the beast mode idle stance at the end of the animation. Going from these emotes to normal idle to beast mode idle looks really awkward.

At the end of the savage emote the character just sits there in this bizzare and totally cool stance. Can we get this as a form of hero stance.

Every other pack I thought the female model came out with the best options but this pack looks really good with the Huge model. I'll even go so far as to say it looks GREEEAAAT!!!!

The beast run looks great with giant forearms, I hope some day in the future there's a way to get giant forearms that don't use Robotic Tech arms. I think maxing out the shoulder slider and making your legs as small as possible makes the beast run animation more visually appealing.

Subjective Feedback: I looked at all the great options in the cat and minotaur heads and could not wait to see what great things the canine head had. Then I saw it.

It makes me sad. There are 2 color choices but only 1 color is used. No paterns. No ear options. No fun to be had. It's still better then what we had. I hope the lack of options is a bug. Seems like all the effort went into cats and minotaur heads then someone said quick make a few beaks for the bird. Forget the canines.

Beast run looks great on the ground but I wonder what happened to the jumping animations. Did the animator take the day off and get replaced by the water boy? I was expecting some beast like flips with the jumping like Ninja Run has. Also beast run is wierd with Greater Fire Sword. It goes away while running but the sound still plays.

I'm still going to buy it because I've been asking for this for 7 years but it could be better.

EDIT: MORE FOXES!!! I think I also need more exclamation points for this.

I don't think scaling is going to allow you to have a color pattern like this

I have a request for Noble Savage or whoever for the Beast run (and also the ninja run). In addition to the current toggle can we also have versions that provide no buff and cost no endurance, but put your characters in the beast (or ninja) movement animations? I have a couple of characters that I would love to keep one or the other of these toggles on all the time just for the animation, but the end cost is just too much most of the time.

Yeah, sadly.

Thats a great example of what I mean by having a non-snarling option for the heads, though. Seriously, who has the tooth fixation in the design team? It's nearly as bad as Liefeld with his straps...

At least you get something. No bear heads for me.

Its not the face itself... is the color pattern The shades are even there, we just need to be able to control one of the layers better I think? A pattern of two colors on the grey wolf head would be the easiest way to deal with people that want fox-ish heads.

I was wondering if Some Less standard manes might be in the works, Smaller, or more stylized. Or Possibly if manes/teeth options might be available for the medium big-cat heads. All that said I do very much like the pack.

Edit, Another thing, The mane has the "Hood Problem" where it coming around to the front kind of causes clipping issues/ limits it's use. Would it be possible to make manes that don't Cover the front of the neck but look more or less the same as they do.

Moar Subjective Feedback:

Realized I hadn't checked skirts to see if the any of the new patterns are there (still really want these in basic capes dang it!). And they are. And they look FANTASTIC!

Pencil Skirt + Leopard Pattern is vampy trampy and perfect. Very happy about this one in particular.

Ok, the pack is seriously awesome. The heads are gorgeous (Though i agree they could scale better), beast run is cool and the rest is great too.

Only one thing "bothers" me. The fact that you can't use hats or anything else on the animal heads. I put bother in quotes because the pack is already amazing, and I can't wait to be able to buy it...

I'm having a hard time returning to live now....

Subjective Feedback:
I absolutely love the Beastly Rage Aura set to Chest (only). While I don't foresee myself rolling up any animal characters, this Aura looks great on my Peacebringer who also sports a star emblem on his chest. I imagine it'll also look great on robotic characters who utilize the Jewel chest detail as well.

Objective: the head size for all female beasts is visibly smaller than comparative male head to body ratios.

Scrolling through the costume sets, there does not seem to be a predefined minotaur/lion/tiger/etc set in place as of yet.

Subjective: some very good modeling done here. Though I do not lean toward animal characters, this pack has me tempted.

Female head sizes seem scaled to the necks, while male heads seem scaled to sit on the necks. this means that even at the largest head size, females' beast heads seem incongruous with their bodies.

Posted

Objective Feedback: The scaling for the monstrous legs on females is WAY out of proportion. If kept the way they are (and probably have been this way since initial release of monstrous legs), the monstrous legs for females would probably be twice the length of the female body at full extension.

Subjective Feedback: The bird feet on all body types, to me, seem a little toooooo ... thin ... frail looking, would be nice to have a larger, more sturdy version in addition to the feet that are already there.

I agree that the ;Savage emote is out of place (unless there's a freebie simian set coming in I120). I would save it for the debut of a simian head and add in looped versions of ;Hiss and ;Sniff.

The feather Costume Changes look great because of the physics of the falling feathers. The fur Costume Changes, however, look mushy grey, more like a dirty water splat. The falling fur is just an animation which doesn't look that good. I realize the physics engine can't do hundreds of falling individual hairs, but maybe clumps of hair, like the ones when getting a hair cut? If it remains just an animation, then it need better animation... have the fur fly up a bit before drifting down.

Beast Run is cool! I like how it *doesn't* have a flip. However, it's mid-air animation is very stilted. Even normal jumping in the game has more fluid and pronounced changes in body position especially when transitioning from going up to going down. I would like to see the body be more lateral than upright in mid-jump. I would also like to see either:

1. On the upflight, a more elongated body that becomes more crouched (knees to chest) on the downflight. IOW, just like how normal jump animation works, only more pronounced. Or...

2. A more 'four-legged' mid gallop pose with the right hand and left leg outstretched and with the left hand and right leg retracted.

Beastly Rage aura is cool! Flea aura... not so much. You made the 'fleas' big so that they can be made out to be bugs, but, they're still not big enough to clearly see that they're bugs. So, they look like the exasperated projectile sweat-drops from the Kathy comic. Color them orange and they look like good lava drops for molten rock characters. But they're nowhere in the same continent as anything resembling 'fleas.' Quite frankly, I can't think of a single way this animation can be salvaged except to rename it 'Fountain Drops' and reshape the 'fleas' into drop shapes so that they can be drops of oil, water, or lava.

If you want 'pests', just take the fly aura and reduce the amount of bugs.

Or, as a substitute, resurrect the dropping feather aura that Wings were supposed to have. Add in a 'shedding' aura with physics hair.

It occurs to me that this is a form of the "Modular beast parts" suggestion that was made way back. Good job on listening to the players and implementing it, devs!
Edit: That wasn't sarcasm, This is the best of both worlds, really.

The beast run is really nice. Losing your weapon when you move is a bit annoying but I suppose that is required. It definitely needs a backwards animation. It feels unfinished as is.

I have one suggestion with the beast run as well as ninja run. When toggled they act a a travel power. Not quite as fast as super speed, not quite as high as super jump, but a perfect blend to get around town. I see why you cannot use these toggles in conjunction with Combat Jumping, however it is quite annoying to have to toggle out of character when fighting and toggle back into character to travel between battles.

My suggestion is to include a second toggle for each of these new running animations. A "Battle Toggle" Same animations as the travel toggle, but with numbers comparable to sprint instead. This way you could leave it on while in missions and in battle like most do with sprint anyways, but you can still use powers like Combat Jumping without having to use regular old sprint which results in a normal stance.

Then when you are ready to travel again you can switch to the faster travel version of the toggle.

Just an idea. I use Ninja Run a lot and this little thing bothers me quite a bit. If we are going to be getting more of these alternate running animations, it might be a good time to make this option available.
