    I was woken up at 8am, Friday morning, my wife saying "City of Heroes is shutting down..." ... Hah yeah right ok ... I turn on my computer, and I check the forums ... I think I sat there for a couple of hours, reading the post Zwillinger made over and over ...

    I knew the game would end eventually, but not now ... not like this ...

    To everyone on Champion, thank you for the best 7½ years of my life. You've been there for me through tough times, even though you didn't know it. You've given me excitement, happiness, and fond memories.

    I love you all.

    *It strikes me that "texture" might not be the right word. I'm referring to the selection under the Tights selection (or other part) which determines how Color 1 and Color 2 are applied to an otherwise plain costume piece.

    The reason I ask this is that I've wanted one texture for tights forever, and it seems like it should be as simple as a costume piece can get. However, if the mirroring applies to textures as well, it explains why I can't have it.

    Ok basically the texture map (all the geometry flattened out and placed on a texture for the artist to paint on) is the same for each half of the body. It's an old trick for saving on file size/adding more detail. One half is mapped, then the other half is aswell, but flipped and laid over the first half. When the texture is applied, as only half of the geometry is painted, its mirrored on the opposite side.

    What I would LOVE is to have many of the tights textures remapped to be a full torso and arms/thighs/feet/forearms rather than just half and mirrored.

  8. Avatar Assassin was a close call though, was 1-2 seconds left on the Detonating Seedling, but great run everyone, the wife now has 2 badges I don't have :S

  11. If badge runs are going to start around 3PM EDT, I won't be able to make any of them, as that's 4:30AM for me, just way too early to get up.

    5-5:30PM would be a much better time for me personally, as that makes it 6:30-7am.

    Tights!

    I personally think that the texture map for tights needs to be fixed to support a single texture that spans an entire geometry, rather than half and then duplicated over the other before you go ahead and make some new textures ... What would this lead to ? ASYMMETRICAL TEXTURES! Which would mean more freedom in making textures/patterns.

    What are these limitations ?

    Alot of the old textures can be converted to make use of an asymmetrical texture, it's just the texture map needs to be changed to accommodate it. The Vahz Abominations have asymmetrical textures, and that is one of the earliest enemies in the game, so using that texture map shouldn't be too hard ...

    **EDIT**: I dunno if texture map is the right term ... its the 3D model's vertexes/polygons placed on a flat surface which the texture artist paints in to make the actual texture ...

  20. With the upcoming changes to Keyes with i21.5, getting through Keyes should in theory take less than 20 minutes on average. This should make attempting badges easier, as getting to Anti-Matter will be quicker.

    I live in Australia, and it is not feasible for me to attend one of these Con's. You're saying that because I'm not a millionaire, and can't afford to buy a plane ticket to every Con when ever one comes up, that I don't deserve the chance to get these costume powers ?
  22. Ok ... conversely, does that mean we'll never ever ever get costume pieces of costumes that are sold as Transformation powers ? Because I would rather you not sell the powers then if it meant we could get the costume pieces ...

    (I know there's no way of knowing we'll ever get certain costume pieces, but the question has to be asked)
