Crashing repeatedly, maybe level shift related.
There is no chance of a rollback. The screaming would be huge.
Attempted 4 different TFs tonight with my MM and an sg team. On each TF, we all got mapserved within the first 3-5 minutes of the first mission (this happened about 8 times).
So we removed our tier 3 alpha slots prior to the TFs - coincidentally, we were able to run all the TFs without one mapserve occurring from beginning to end. So after we were done, I ran a few solo tests. (below) Here's a test I ran with my ninja/dark MM using/reseting the exact same mission: 1) Tier 2 alpha slotted only Mission ran fine, was able to kill everything all the way to the last room. I left the boss alive and reset the mission, then.. 2) Slotted my tier 3 alpha slot Mission ran fine WITHOUT ANY PETS, was able to kill everything all the way to the last room. I left the boss alive and reset the mission, then.. 3) Left my tier 3 alpha slotted Mission ran fine WITH ONLY DARK SERVANT (shifted at +1), was able to kill everything all the way to the last room. I left the boss alive and reset the mission, then.. 4) Left my tier 3 alpha slotted, called tier 1 ninjas Mission mapserved after about 5 minutes (the 3rd mob I was fighting) So... it seems that the tier 3 alphas don't like MM pets being summoned? For everyone who (A) had problems where EVERYONE in the team mapserved within a mission, or (B) you mapserved during the first 5 minutes of any mission consistently: are you (or was someone in your team) a mastermind using a tier 3 alpha with any summoned pets? Just checking all the bases to help out the devs figure this out. Thanks! |
I can clear mobs just fine using Flytrap , Torando, Lightning Storm, Freezing Rain.
If I cast Carrion Creepers, I can't get past the one mob without it map serving.
I ran Netgraph the whole time, nothing showed up, all green. Also ran into something odd. I was running around outside I skipped from Portal Corp to Curry Cove where I decided to engage a group of nemesis. I used creepers and sure enough, mapserve. I log to character select, load back in, Im back at Portal Corp, not where I crashed.
So, on a plant controller or dom, dont use Creepers for now.

I remember doing a tip mission very recently where an ally that spawned as +2 due to my difficulty settings dropped down to the same level as me after I rescued it. I guess it's some new tech.

On a more on-topic note, last night my whole team except the guy who had gone AFK in the mission crashed exiting the second-last mission of the Silver Mantis SF. Then we all crashed again exiting the last mission. I still have my badge though. Nobody had a rare slotted since we were all level 20-something.

I would therefore conclude, initially, that the cause of the mapserver issue is summoned entities by a summoned entity that is level shifted - both Assault Bots (in Missile Patches) and Protector Bots (Seeker Drones) cause a summoned entity with the L32 Upgrade, whereas the Battle Drones do not.

Just tested in the shadow shard on my illusion rad.
Every single power went off with zero crashes. Spectral terror was able to hit and do the proc damage without crashing. Phantom Army too was able to be out the full duration [twice] without no crash.
Phantasm was able to stand out without attacking with no crash, however as soon as he attacked/summoned the decoy phantasm, then i crashed [twice].

I got 2 characters with the lv shift last night.
After I had gotten it on the first one I got on the 2nd and started forming a team of friends to get it. At this point only 4 of us on the team and none had gotten actually none of the other 3 had got one on any character yet. I went to Atlas Park to use the Market and mapserved 4 times there. Later during the STF I crashed once during recluse fight when still no one had a lv shift.
Ok so we more or less know that the problem lies with:
Pets summoning pets
- Protector Bots > Seeker Drones
- Phantasm > Decoy Phantasm
Pseudo Pets Summoning Pets
- Carrion Creep > Carrion Creepers
- Any Demon + Hell On Earth > Living Hellfire (?)
What about:
Pets summoning Pseudo Pets
- Summon Guardian > Voltaic Sentinel
- Gremlins > Jolting Chain
or Pseudo pets summoning Pseudo Pets?
- Volcanic Gasses > Voltaic Geyser (I think)
These are only examples, I will update the list soon to include all the powers that fall into the different categories to my knowledge.

I just dropped my level shifted Traps / Dark into a KoA mission.
All her drops worked fine:
Force Field Generator
Triage Beacon
Seeker Drones
Caltrops
Poison Gas Trap
Acid Mortar
Of those powers, PGT leaves behind a field (additional summon?) upon its destruction.
I also ran my fire / fire / fire dom through a few missions -- no problems with imps and RoF.
IIRC, the guaranteed map server issues are with one of the Illusion pets, Carrion Creepers, and upgraded Assault and Protector Bots.

Just woolgathering ... but I noticed that my imps were level shifted. I wonder if the issue shows up with some summons summoning additional summons that are ... or aren't ... level shifted? Works for some powers, doesn't work for others.

According to the testing, Ninjas that drop Caltrops and Robots that drop patch powers (Seeker Drones, Missile Patch) have caused a crash. I would also expect the Thug Arsonist to cause a crash with the burn patch caused by his Molotov Cocktail, but I don't have the rare slotted yet to test it.
I see nothing in Mercs, Necro, or Demons that would (presumably) cause a crash.
I feel confident in teaming again now while +1, just did a mission and kept phanty away and not a single problem for either of us. Phantom army + spectral terror used quite a lot, so my main can team again at its true power!

My experiences this morning directly correlate with your findings. Without fail, every time protector bots summoned seeker drones I experienced a mapserver. I also experienced a mapserver every time the assault bot summoned more than one burn patch with incendiary missiles.
I ran missions with level shifted henchmen who were not upgraded and experienced no unusual problems in play.
Hopefully the hotfix resolves this. If not, I'm sure this thread will get longer.

Kinda odd though that it'd be a 100mb patch though, prolly had to change some file that had more data in it than just the rare + v.rares.

It's probably just a precaution.
They found and hopefully fixed a critical bug. But just to make sure, they're re-releasing the entire part with the fixed bug in, instead of just the single file. To make absolutely sure that the part we get isn't corrupted someway.

I think marketing or NCSoft forced their hand on this. The devs were NOT given adequate time to test this. I had just FINALLY gotten TEST downloaded on my new laptop, when boom, I see that Issue 19.5 is live.
I was like, "less than a week of testing? "
The higher ups really should have given them more testing time.
Hopefully they can restore all the upper alpha tiers that vanished for people and fix the crashes without doing a rollback.
