Children

Where they be? Penelope must be the only girl in her class. Isn't that little girl in Founders Falls called Penny? I think we should be rescuing more little kids and seeing them play in the parks. We should have schools and playgrounds. We could have a Child's Booster Pack with sneakers, pigtails, sportswear, overalls, the works. Plus we could change the boob slider so that when I make an 8 year old girl, she doesn't have a B-Cup.

It's been 7 years. It's time Paragon made some babies.

Many potential pitfalls here. Suffice it to say things are probably simpler in an "all-adult" (so to speak) City of Heroes.

The original Rikti Invasion portals triggered an anomaly within the Shadow Shard and now all babies and children in Paragon City are saturated by an invisibility/phase field that wears off when they complete adolescence.

I thought this was common knowledge.

See, then children would be part of the 'Citizens' group found milling about in Mayhem missions. I don't think anyone would be too pleased if you could throw great balls of fire at them, despite the fact that Citizens are (Annoyingly) invincible for some reason.

I mean, why didn't they just send wave after wave of Citizens at the Rikti, since they don't seem to ever get hurt. Even with Brawl, the Rikti would get swamped and drowned in a wave of angry citizens..

*Wanders off ranting*

I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...

With thugs on every corner I don't know why we see anyone on the street anywhere, I sure as hell wouldn't let my kids out of the house!

@Doctor Gemini

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

People seem ok with smacking old people around in Paragon. Plus, in the Lady Grey Task Force, you could fail Penelope and be forced to watch as she dies, poor girl. Line crossed.

Arent the people in Praetoria's basketball courts children? What age level are we looking at here because i thought miss yin was a teenager? In which case there are quite a few around

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

There's no children OR animals... Which just make me ask why?

They don't have to be attackable- it would just really add to the atmosphere of the game. Not to mention how many missions could be made around children and animals.

Where do they get the meat for the tacos at El Super Mexicano if there's no animals!? Tacos in Talos? I'll pass

Crossing the line doesn't mean you have to laugh at the line, flip it the bird and run off, leaving the line miles in the distance behind you.

You can't flip it the bird. No animals. Or fingers.

(And for the other poster - we have no quadruped skeletons. Therefore, no dogs/cats/llamas/etc.)

My Peruvian hero, Pachamama, demands llamas!

In fact, I demand a Llama Herder MM set. Prepare to be spat upon, evil-doers!

There are cats. As well as some weird rodent things that we are told are supposed to be pandas.

Which now that you mention it, makes NO sense at all. Then again, that entire task force makes very little sense, so I guess it's to be expected.

Sometimes in the Rogue Isles (Port Oakes in particular), I will see an unusally short citizen walking around. Maybe its just a glitch with the NPC height scale, but sometimes these shorties are even sporting "youthful" looking clothes and hairstyles, which makes me suspect they are meant to represent chidlren. Although they still kind of look like just really short adults.

Never see them in Paragon.

I can't find any published rules or guidelines online, but its been alluded a few times that gameplay that has the potential to display violence against children gets additional scrutiny by the ESRB or other authorities. Games like "Bully" or "Rule of Rose" displays actions of kids against kids, so they may not have raised as many objections (the theory goes).

I'm not entirely convinced its the ESRB-- there are several "hair trigger" issues that various parents' or religious groups look for, misconstrue, and hype to all hell in their vigilance against the industry, and many games may just want to reduce the risk of raising THEIR ire...

All of the children are getting poisoned by Westin Phipps.

Well a lot of other MMORPG's have children. Like a certain game that starts with a W. They are rated T for Teen. You can even kill some children in that game of the opposite faction Although I think that is just an oversight since you use to not be able to do it.

I don't think any of us want kids and animals in the game just to kill them, lol. They should be unattackable of course. All about atmosphere.

What's funny is Dev's(maybe stockholders?) don't seem to believe is that the more mature the rating- generally the better the sales. When I was a kid, I'd probably bought all M rated games and thought Teen or less would have been for chumps. Only now as an old fart do I appreciate rated G stuff. Yeah... I watch Spongebob... In between manly stuff like UFC of course!

There is an unfortunate knee-jerk reaction in the general populace of most of the western world right now that longs to place children into the 'Victim' category and everyone who comes near them into the 'Attacker' category. Not only does the modern media perpetuate this reaction, but it also opportunistically feeds upon it to the point of self-destruction.

In our case, this manifests into an atmosphere where anyone who expresses an interest in having an underage character or interacting with them is automatically labelled a pervert.

This is really unfortunate, since a great deal of fantasy, sci-fi, and action revolves around children and teens.

For example, my first ever foray into the world of comic books was with the first issue of Power Pack At the time, they were super heroes MY age whom I could relate to. I still remember them very fondly, even though I've given up on Marvel Comics.

It's by no means unnatural or even uncommon to want to play as a child superhero or adventurer.

I can't help but think that there is a worry among the devs and producers that allowing more juvenile models would allow those opportunistic 'Have a seat over there'-types to prey upon City of Heroes and NCSoft. That's not terribly fair to those of us who aren't perverts.

It's plainly obvious. Ever see DARK CITY?

The Rikti actually won the war. We, the surviving humans, are part of a giant experiment. They didn't think it necessary to the experiment to import birds, animals or any lesser life forms.

And of course, there are no children. All of the test subjects were sterilized before being placed in the experiment.
