No, Fiery Embrace isn't a damage bonus, you want it up as fast as possible.

You can have 2 completely independent builds and 3 once alpha is unlocked. There is an additional cost, of course, in creating a whole new enchantment set but the gains of having two purpose specific builds(farm/TF/etc) are significant.

Good to know, thanks.

Lol. Agressive much?

I actually hadn't seen some of the very last posts from you and firey with some builds. Your last build is pretty good, indeed. For some reason I hadn't been able to find ultrawatt's build buried in the 16+ pages. I did look. The last build I saw from you had force feebacks slotted in most attacks.

I like your approach of slotting consume with the Taunt set - hadn't thought of that. Plus the leadership pool is a nice touch.

I like the Armageddon set for its ability to achieve almost the same stats and fit in a dmg proc. If this build farms half as well as people say, you'll make back the cost of it pretty quick.

Anyway, thanks for the latest builds. I despise how people here hold onto builds sometimes like they're pure gold lmao.

Hey Deevian I had a few questions about your build. I noticed that all your attacks are doing fire damage and smashing damage even footstomp.. is there a setting for that in mids or some slotting I'm not seeing? And is the Mu lightning power doing anything besides a mule? Does it have any affect on your farming? Does the end drain and self heal help? Also you could drop grant invis and get combat jumping for a little extra defense and added mobility.

Thanks, great thread everyone that's posted has been very informative to me!

He probably has Fiery Embrace toggled on. That would account for the extra fire damage. Also note that, IIRC, Deevian's build loads with Vengeance toggled on, so his DEF numbers are only that high when he's PLing dead teammates.

CJ is a great power to have, but the Jumping Pool only gives you one opportunity to slot a Luck of the Gambler proc (in CJ itself). Deevian took the Concealment pool because it gives you three opportunities to slot that recharge bonus. Deevian's is a niche build focused on farming and nothing else. In general, Fire Tankers/Brutes don't want the Concealment pool. I don't have Deevian's build up at the moment, but I don't imagine that Mu Lightning is terribly useful in the context for which the build was designed. Single-target attacks are marginalized on farm maps.

(The chance for heal proc is just there because he's probably using Entropic Chaos for the global recharge bonus, in other words.)

In the "very best farmer" thread, a niche build focused on farming, imagine that..

Did I say it was a bad thing? I was explaining why you took Concealment when generally Fire Brutes don't want it.

Seriously, dude, you're tossing attitude all over the place for no reason.

Small interruption. I've tried to find the answer in the Binds guides and can't spot it.

How can I make a bind to combine insps to make reds?

All the information can indeed be found here:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...aker%27s+guide

But, it did probably present a bit too much information and wasn't exactly clear about everything so here:

Start off by by typing :
/bind_save

This will save your current bindings to a file called keybinds.txt in your default CoH folder.

Then save this following file in your C:\Program Files\City of Heroes
(assuming default installation path). So you just create a standard text file named damage.txt, copy the following text into the file then save it.

w "+forward$$inspcombine insight enrage$$inspcombine luck enrage$$inspcombine catch_a_breath enrage$$inspcombine respite enrage$$inspcombine sturdy enrage$$inspcombine break_free enrage$$inspcombine awaken enrage"
a "+left$$inspcombine keen_insight focused_rage$$inspcombine good_luck focused_rage$$inspcombine take_a_breather focused_rage$$inspcombine dramatic_improvement focused_rage$$inspcombine rugged focused_rage$$inspcombine emerge focused_rage"
d "+right$$inspcombine uncanny_insight righteous_rage$$inspcombine phenomenal_luck righteous_rage$$inspcombine second_wind righteous_rage$$inspcombine resurgence righteous_rage$$inspcombine robust righteous_rage$$inspcombine escape righteous_rage"
space "+up$$inspcombine bounce_back focused_rage$$inspcombine restoration righteous_rage"
mousechord "inspexecname righteous_rage$$inspexecname focused_rage$$inspexecname enrage"

So now you should have a file called damage.txt in your coh folder with the above text copied into it.

Set a macro/hotkey to, or simply type it out :
/bind_load_file damage.txt

This will load the macro, note this version of the macro works off of you movement keys, so as you move around you automatically combine your inspirations.

Also note this version also combines ALL inspirations into reds, if you want one, such a purples then simply remove those from the macro:

For instance this is a version that does not combine purples:

w "+forward$$inspcombine insight enrage$$inspcombine catch_a_breath enrage$$inspcombine respite enrage$$inspcombine sturdy enrage$$inspcombine break_free enrage$$inspcombine awaken enrage"
a "+left$$inspcombine keen_insight focused_rage$$inspcombine take_a_breather focused_rage$$inspcombine dramatic_improvement focused_rage$$inspcombine rugged focused_rage$$inspcombine emerge focused_rage"
d "+right$$inspcombine uncanny_insight righteous_rage$$inspcombine second_wind righteous_rage$$inspcombine resurgence righteous_rage$$inspcombine robust righteous_rage$$inspcombine escape righteous_rage"
space "+up$$inspcombine bounce_back focused_rage$$inspcombine restoration righteous_rage"
mousechord "inspexecname righteous_rage$$inspexecname focused_rage$$inspexecname enrage"

Set another macro/type in:
/bind_load
to turn off the macro

This will undo it by loading your default bindings(the keybinds.txt you save at the beginning of the process)

one last thing, the binds also set the mousechord(both mouse buttons) to pop red inspirations.

Just reds? Why stop there? Might I recommend the power of Popmenus.

You can use one particular set up to easily combine all tiers of reds and any other inspiration with just a few key strokes.

Popmenu versions are in the guide listed by deevian as well. And actually, you do not have to separate the commands when using popmenus, as a popmenu does not have the character limit constraint that a bind does; it is therefore possible to combine all tiers in one command.

Popmenus require additional keystrokes and choices, the macros I listed automatically combine as you move around with movement keys. You don't have to remember to do anything. I also find that I naturally hit both mouse buttons(at the same time, which fires off my red inspirations in the above binding) while moving round by habit, so all my inspiration combining/using happens without any diversion of attention.

I do have pop menus setup for creating and popping specific inspirations that I use during normal mission content however.

The popmenu stuff is great for general-purpose play, but I think you're better off with binds that work automatically in the background if you're farming. Me, I use the movement binds Deevian cites above, except that instead of using movement keys to trigger them, I use my AoE powers.

So for example:

/bind [key] "powexec_name Foot Stomp$$inspcombine insight enrage$$inspcombine bounce_back enrage$$inspcombine catch_a_breath enrage$$inspcombine respite enrage$$inspcombine sturdy enrage$$inspcombine break_free enrage$$inspcombine awaken enrage"

Toss higher-tier combining binds on the other AoEs (Burn, Elec Fences, Ball Lightning). Then I use button4 (the "back" button on the side of my mouse) and mousechord to eat reds and purples, respectively.

It all comes down to personal preference. I just find that a) moving around on a farming brute build probably isn't going to be something you're doing a lot naturally, and b) there's enough stuff to click on without having to worry about popmenus.

Oh, and nice guide Micro. Great stuff.

Oh, I'm aware of that. My set up is just for fine tuning. Many of my builds will soft-cap with one small purple. This way, I can keep the higher tiers for reds. It's just a preference thing.

Deevian did a great job of putting the binds all together but in case your having issues getting it to work, direct the bind like my below example:

/bindloadfile c:\covbinds\damage.txt

As I earlier promised, here are some hard numbers generated from HeroStats.

I ran the standard crey firefarm, starting recording when I clicked the first double door and stopped when I clicked glowie. I do not have level shift yet.

54/8 With Bosses:
Tickets:
1500 total
163.46 per minute
9807.71 per hour

Inf:
12,693,288 Total
1,383,246.03/min
82,994,761.59/hour

54/8 Without bosses
Tickets:
1500 total
270.6/min
16,235.96/hour

Inf:

8,086,514.00 total
1,459,803.77/min
87,528,226.22/hour

And here are some other numbers for fun

54/8 without bosses power % of damage:
Ball lightning: 28,015............................................ ..17.3%
Blazing Aura: 32,226............................................ ..19.9%
Bonus Fire(fiery embrace I'm guessing): 21,643.....13.3%
Burn: 14,368.................................................. .........8.8%
Electrifying fences:16,931.......................................10.47%
Footstomp: 43.607............................................ .....26.9%
other 3.43%

total damage: 156789

you do know that doing +4/8 on that farm in completly unecessary...

I run that farm with my Brute on +0/8 (no bosses/no av's) and i kill everything on the map in in a blistering time, and still get the 1500 tickets cap...
