So what do you predict in the state of the game address?

Not nearly as many as you'd think. This game and that one are polar opposites.

Sorry for the continual thread derailment.

I predict that the State of the Game post will be in late April or May, not in January. (I just don't want people to see this thread and expect something forthcoming from the devs anytime in the next month or two.) They probably won't talk about Issue 20, because it will have been released for a month or two.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

it's basically a console game.
competition with coh is indirect at best.

HOORAY! This thread is now against the rules!!!!!
It's good through Monday though!

I don't think DCUO is a bad game but its style doesn't seem to have much overlap with CoH. As said, more of a console game than a MMORPG. And their character creator is laughably limited.

Yep, in a weird definition of cynicism.

(PS, did you ever get back to that topic in the screenshot forum where you asked for costume suggestions for your mage?)

IIRC, I only got two replies and couldn't really make much of either, so I kind of forgot about it.

i predict that Melissa will not mention the state of your mage's costume in the state of the game address.

i also predict that this thread is a bit premature, but that's not wholly unexpected in light of the source.

i further predict that some of the unspecified, vaguely alluded to longstanding issues will have been fixed and others may well have been reintroduced by the time the state of the game address happens. The ones that have been fixed might be mentioned to the extent that they're related recent additions to the game at the time of the address.

i also further predict that in general longstanding issues that have not been fixed will not be directly addressed in the address since discussing assorted minor points of dissatisfaction for some players is not really the purpose of the address. (No, really.)

All these predictions (and more) for the low, low price of nothing! Posted for free, here in these forums!

Man, I hate this lack of communication over the *real* issues. I'm quitting.

Yeah, I've played DCUO as well and while it's better than CO (but really, what isn't?), and the graphics and environments are good and perform remarkably well, there are other console games that do the game play much better, and the character creator is laughable (I couldn't believe how bad it was-- your character is even pigeonholed into a specific origin/backstory).

SOE managed to screw up yet another strong IP. I get frustrated when I think that they got the rights to arguably the strongest comic IP of all time and this is what they did with it.

Here's hoping Marvel goes with a more PC less console approach (but I don't hold out much hope as every MMO developer and their brothers seem to be aiming for consoles these days).

I wondered what happened with that. I could try again. Or whatever.

Based on what's been happening recently on the forums, I predict complete silence from the devs.

No, I'm talking about how the two vocal devs are now gone.

A while ago in another thread, someone posted a screenshot and the legs were horribly deformed things that sprouted from the belly button. It looked like Liefeld had been hired for the character design.

So i take it that David Nakayama aka Noble Savage doesn't count? He's always been quite vocal when he has the time. In fact he's posted several times in the last couple of days.

i predict that it will be interesting, and some people will still complain and moan.

heh, i predict people will live up to their forum handle, thats all really.

oh and for those making comparisons, my opinion based on experience is that the rankings of quality seem to be following the release order, at least as a player who's biggest interest is customization, numbah 3 aint cutting it at all.

I might have missed some earlier versions, but I think the models look fine enough. The creator itself though is horribly limited in options, far worse than CoH (or CO) was at launch. Their handling of the color palette is a joke.

The devs aren't that crazy! Hinting at cake and not delivering woulld be just the spark needed to blow this whole powderkeg to hell.

I can't believe you were so bold to as to even mention the idea... the nerve of some people.

But the cake wasn't a lie. There was cake! "You will be baked, and then there will be cake." The cake was the truth!
