So what do you predict in the state of the game address?
Aside from little tidbits about issue 20, I am really hoping they go in a direction to address alot of the older long standing issues that refuse to get looked at. What do you guys think they will talk about?

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
competition with coh is indirect at best.

CO didn't kill us. And trust me, we really don't have anything to worry about from DCUO.
HOORAY! This thread is now against the rules!!!!! |
I don't think DCUO is a bad game but its style doesn't seem to have much overlap with CoH. As said, more of a console game than a MMORPG. And their character creator is laughably limited.
It's cynical to think that a State of the Game address will mostly be about the current state of the game?

(PS, did you ever get back to that topic in the screenshot forum where you asked for costume suggestions for your mage?)
Character index
IIRC, I only got two replies and couldn't really make much of either, so I kind of forgot about it.

i also predict that this thread is a bit premature, but that's not wholly unexpected in light of the source.
i further predict that some of the unspecified, vaguely alluded to longstanding issues will have been fixed and others may well have been reintroduced by the time the state of the game address happens. The ones that have been fixed might be mentioned to the extent that they're related recent additions to the game at the time of the address.
i also further predict that in general longstanding issues that have not been fixed will not be directly addressed in the address since discussing assorted minor points of dissatisfaction for some players is not really the purpose of the address. (No, really.)
All these predictions (and more) for the low, low price of nothing! Posted for free, here in these forums!

IBTL:
Yeah, I've played DCUO as well and while it's better than CO (but really, what isn't?), and the graphics and environments are good and perform remarkably well, there are other console games that do the game play much better, and the character creator is laughable (I couldn't believe how bad it was-- your character is even pigeonholed into a specific origin/backstory).
SOE managed to screw up yet another strong IP. I get frustrated when I think that they got the rights to arguably the strongest comic IP of all time and this is what they did with it.
Here's hoping Marvel goes with a more PC less console approach (but I don't hold out much hope as every MMO developer and their brothers seem to be aiming for consoles these days).
The best comics are still 10!

i predict that it will be interesting, and some people will still complain and moan.
So i take it that David Nakayama aka Noble Savage doesn't count? He's always been quite vocal when he has the time. In fact he's posted several times in the last couple of days.

oh and for those making comparisons, my opinion based on experience is that the rankings of quality seem to be following the release order, at least as a player who's biggest interest is customization, numbah 3 aint cutting it at all.
