Look out, States and LR! There's a NEW Incarnate in town, and he's gonna... Hey, stop that laughing. Come on, you guys! Seriously!

For all the people that mention this stupidity:
We have the Alpha slot and just two of its four tiers, at that. It is also the first of ten slots. If we consider each slot as being "5 levels" of Incarnate, with each tier dividing equally into that "5 levels"... There is no player in the game that is currently higher rank than a level 2.5 Incarnate. We can assume that Statesman at least has up to the final tier of the Judg"e"ment slot through his use of Hammer of Justice and Zeus' Lightning Bolt (based on the powers information you can look up for two of the final tiers for the Judg"e"ment slot powers in-game). With that, we know that Statesman is at least a "level 10" Incarnate versus our puny 2.5. ... And then of course there's the "It's a game. You can't expect to be the pwnzor out of the box" argument. |
well, i was quitting the forums..that didnt really work out well. yeah i19 is nice, i really dont have the reactive "i quit" reflex because my thrifty side keeps getting the 14 month things(signed up for the third one a bit ago), so its just around 10 bucks a month, but i'm now here till late 2012. that said, glad you stayed.
Also, Mender Ramiel explicitly states that you, at your lowest level, are much weaker than Statesman, but that you at your highest will be significantly stronger. "Much Stronger" is en route to the game.
Another thing I like: That all Incarnates have a signature item that match their personality and is filled with Incarnate power. Now my Thugs Mastermind has Incarnate guns! |
No matter how hard I try, I just can not quit playing with my CoX.

It's been the same ***** joke since I joined 4 years ago, and it's still funny every time I hear it.

It's a faaaaaaake.
Since I haven't gotten to 50 yet, the ability to switch toons without logging out or...umm...quitting is so far the single greatest thing about i19 so far. |

Issue 19 redeemed everything that bothered me about Going Rogue and made it a new game for me. After Going Rogue I was kinda down. I felt like my playstyle just wasn't supported.
I was wrong. Issue 19 is too much awesome!
I mean even if I were to think of leaving CoH, say for another game set in a major comics publisher's universe, I wouldn't at this point. I dare say that if such a game existed, it might be pretty, but it has nothing on my beloved City of Heroes!
I have been an on and off player for years. Made several acounts but this time I think I'll be here awhile as the new incarnate stuff is the best update since respecs were introduced.
I can give you your stuff back?
I'm the same somewhat, at 51 months and counting now...I don't deny there are features I want to see in the game and the budget to back them up (say what you will about a certain other superhero game in production, but at least the scope and richness of attention to detail is something I would love to see much more of here. Not to say it doesn't, but I hope the gist of what I'm saying is clear.)
There's also things I've always wanted to see in superhero games that aren't here yet, such as destructable/breakable objects and the ability to manipulate the environment (read: pick up things and throw 'em in various ways), but CoX has been brave enough to release powersets such as Dual Pistols that has its roots in pure aesthetics over stat-crunching. I keep coming back for things like that, the exceptionally strong mission and story arc writing (I don't think anyone can deny that Praetoria's arcs were smart, not condescending and gave players a sense of empowerment they didn't have before, along with the most important element...choice), and the willingness to experiment with their own formats in fields like power animations, costume design and even just pure cosmetic things like emotes.
Sure, my dream would be a CoX that looked like NCSoft's stablemate game in Aion, and had some of the features I listed above, but I also feel every lesson the developers learn by producing miracles out of a six-year old (and older coded) game paves the way for a successor when inevitably that time comes. I don't think anyone here would doubt Paragon Studios ability to make a City Of...sequel if it came about and have brand new and more powerful tools to improve upon the experience.
And I think that's the key; the developers here strike me as wanting to challenge themselves and their game, and I get the sense that they treat the game and all its code as their 'old girl' and care for it deeply. I don't wish this iteration of the game to go away anytime soon, but when or if that time comes, I'll know they've done all they can and again want to challenge themselves.
And how many games and game developers can you say that about these days?
S.
I'm unlikely to quit. Only way a company has ever gotten me to leave their MMO is telling me that they don't want me and that they don't care whether people are injured or die as a result of their proposed policies. Other than that, as long as the game stays fun, I'm good, and I don't see it ceasing to be fun anytime soon.
