Servers down again this morning
Scheduled server downtimes are posted in the News And Announcements section. They state they are publishing a patch this morning, expected downtime 2 hours.
Too many alts to list
Every server but Pinnacle
Black Belt in Altoholism, Master of Indeterminancy
(although how it got in nancy I've no idea...)
I heard rumors yesterday that the rare and very rare might be coming out today. I think it was total speculation, though.
Topher Wade lvl 50 Claws/Regen
The Crimson Heroes Society SG
Chaos Faction VG
Official Naturalized Citizen of Justice since 2007
I heard they were nerfing regen and/or accuracy with this patch...
In the announcement it clearly states that the downtime for EST will be ALL DAY.. 6am to 9pm. I'm really hoping this was a typo because if not.. WTF

Positron: "There are no bugs [in City of Heroes], just varying degrees of features."
Lets hope so. Since every place I've seen that announcement..it said the same thing.
Clearly they're trying to waste as much time as possible before the release of the second respec for all the procastinators so they'll be forced to buy respecs from the NCSoft store!
... nah, not a Nemesis plot. Too obvious.
Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude or condescending, but come on ... you can't honestly believe that in the slightest, can you?

Ooo look my server is up that was a fast 14 hrs.....I kid,I kid...
Now now people. Just because it would only take one person 5 minutes to actually post in what these patches actually are, that's no reason to expect any one of them to skip stuffing their faces with doughnuts long enough to do so. Besides, why would you want to know anyway? isn't it much more fun to guess?
What's that you say? Put up the post *before* actually uploading the patch? Blasphemy!!! That would mean someone.. anyone... on the development team would actually know what they were going to do, before they did it. Talk about unreasonable expectations.
Just wait a week or two, and the patch notes will be in Wikileaks.
Oh yes, because there couldn't possibly be ANYTHING going on that you don't know about which might be more important than pasting up patch notes right away. They must be eating donuts and talking about what was on TV last night. There is no other possible explanation.
...
How about you stop calling people lazy if you have absolutely no idea what's going on behind the scenes, ok?
Not to mention that even if they did have a list of everything in the patch, it doesn't mean everything actually made it Live. I imagine there would be more Nerdrage about X being in the Prepatch Notes and X not making it to Live in that patch.
Yes, we all have heard these same old excuses dozens of times before. Don't you get tired of repeating yourselves? And just what makes you so certain the reason the notes are *always* late or non-existant isn't because of sheer laziness? Do you have some sort of inside information? Doubtful. Before you start defending people who have made a habit of needing to be defended, mabey you should come up with some new excuses. These old ones have worn thin.

I have no idea why they insist on waiting so long before posting the release notes but they should be available any time at or after the patch goes live
Yes, because in every other part of the world the maintenance will take 2 hours, whereas somehow only in the Eastern Standard timezone it will take 14 hours.

We don' need no stinkin' signatures!

So what's your excuse?
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
Meh, personally I agree that Patch Notes should be presented at the time of patch downtime. A long time ago, this was the case.
I'm not going to say the Devs, Community Staff, or anyone else at Paragon Studios is lazy because we just don't know what's going on.
No, I do not have experience with development and promotion of code into a production system. I don't need it to play a different angle of the same old argument. Sometimes, rarely, stuff is in the Test Server notes and doesn't make it to Live. In a way, Alpha Slot fits in this scenario. I was just poking fun at the whining sobs of tearfull tantrum pitching insolent dipdops that would be gnashing their teeth at that.
What I find funny is that it will be 4:30pm Eastern and the patch notes won't be up. There won't be any posts by Avatea or theOcho about them. Then out of nowhere a thread will pop up that's timestamped 12:51pm and have the Patch Notes. That tells me that the post is already made and just not moved to a forum where we can see it til later. So maybe they have to have it proofread and approved before it gets published to a publicly viewable forum here.
Or we could have Option G: I'm bat*&%*&% crazy and all of this is asome dream brought about by psychoactive drugs I was given while sipping frozen fruity drinks on a beach in the Caribbean.
(I'm really bored right now, so I may go on a WTFWazzat Spree. You've been warned.)

Seriously though, there are a good number of reasons not to post the patch notes before the patch happens. Most of that involves some rather obsessive care on our parts since we want to make 100% sure nothing goes wrong with a patch before we release the contents of the patch. No matter how much anyone tests theres always a possibility of some bizarre critical failure and we do our best to rule those out before we post the notes.
Now that we are in the office and things appear to be going rather smooth (*crosses fingers*) the patch notes are up now.
Thanks,
OMIGOD!!! Is it i20 rollout?
Considering how loudly some players scream when patch notes are incomplete or inaccurate, I don't blame PS for taking a bit to confirm they are correct.
Was there maintenance again this morning? I thought it was done on thursdays? All servers are down this morning.
