Personally, I prefer console games to PC games. Not sure if its the controller aspect or the type of games that mostly are found on consoles like my xbox 360, I just tend to enjoy them more. For example, I just pre-ordered and paid for the upcoming Assassin's Creed 3, after purchasing Transformer's Fall of Cybertron. Which btw..is a BLAST TO PLAY.
So I really couldn't care less about the current state of MMO's. Mainly because I realize its a business like all the rest. Created to make money, not to make people all warm and happy. While yes the idea of video games is enjoyment, if they didn't make money noone would make the damn things. -
Why didn't we get the Cybertech costume bundle this week? I've been playing on beta for the past two weeks and IMO it all seems to be working just fine. So either someone found that one damn glitch or bug that needed to be fixed, or there'es a release date already picked for the pack.
I would like the devs to know that ALOT of folks are eagerly waiting for the Cybertech pack....*crosses fingers for next week release* -
Heya Laser..drop me a pm in game ..@DarkPrimus32...<--Omni.

Haven't read the entire thread, nor do I plan to. Whats the point? Read a few posts of people complaining (which seemed to be a growing trend in regard to the Freebie Friday thing.) and decided to just skip to the end and post something myself.
First off, I would like to say THANK YOU!! Thanks for even having the idea of giving away one free item a week. Thanks again for actually trying it out. Also, please don't listen to all the self entitled, whiny ******* on here complaining because they didn't get a powerset or purp IO set for free. Let'em whine and complain for awhile, they'll get over it soon enough, or simply move on to the next new thing to whine about.
Again..THANK YOU, and keep up the great work. -
Now this is just my opinion, and I'm not trying to start any drama with this statement, but I'd have to agree with the complaint about cliques on Virtue being part of the problem in finding decent/enjoyable rp. Of course whats enjoyable to one person might not be fun to another. Another major issue I've noticed on Virtue is ooc drama between players started /because/ of something that happened in RP.
Now..I've said it before and I'll say it again... those people that can't tell the difference between Real Life and City of Heroes RP need to change their damn meds. I get that a really good RP can sometimes get your emotions going, but damn, is it really necessary for so much ooc drama to be tied into everything that goes on on this server? This is the whole reason I stopped rp'ing and rarely play CoH anymore..well until Staff Fighting goes live :P
Then there's the whole "you suck at rp" comments, that I admit I heard once or twice, but always from the same person, this being the same person who can't rp anything without catching some kind of OOC feelings for the other player involved..which again leads to nothing but drama.
People..its FAKE. For example, just because my character is having feelings for yours or w/e, that in no way implies that I give two ***** about /you/. Sure the other person might be fun to play the game/rp with, but do we really need to get upset or jealous because person A is rp'ing with person B?
An' another thing...whats with all the "don't talk or rp with that person because I don't like them." ********?? This is something I've heard about and seen happen waaay too much on Virtue. Its stupid, and if anyone is wondering why folks on other servers make fun of Virtue..some of the reasons are the ones I mention here. All I'm saying is..think about it people and stop getting upset over stupid ********. /endrant -
Its amazing to me how g****** entitled some of you people think you are, simply because you pay 15 bucks to play a videogame. ..Someone made the comment about "what if your electricity goes out for a day..".. Um..personally..I go the hell outside if that happens..but maybe thats just me.
My point is simply this..yes we all pay a monthly subscription fee to play CoH, but NOT, NEVER, ONCE have we been promised, or guaranteed that the services we pay for, (the game) would be up and available at all times, whenever we wanted. Things happen people and getting on here while your in the middle of a little nerd rage just so you can sound like a whiny 2 yr old who missed out on a lolly, doesn't solve anything at all. Though it does give those of us with higher functioning brains, something to laugh at on occasion.
Instead of complaining on the forums during server downtime, why not think up a forum game, or ...DUN DUN DUN, actually come up with something valid to discuss instead of getting in a cluster**** and crying like kids at a daycare. ...Just saying... -
My list would go as follows..
1.) Adult RP (basically..anything you might see or hear in a R-rated movie. Sometimes a XXX movie. lol)
2.) Casual/Light RP (sitting in the D, chatting with whomever is around.
3.) Action RP (I'm sorta picky with this one. If I'm leading a team and someone stops in the middle of a fight to type a damn paragraph..I'll kick 'em without warning. No fighting going on right then...sure..RP it up till your eyes bleed.) -
The OP is complaining about people complaining....*looks around, then bashes face into desk repeatedly*

3 whole pages of WAAAAAAAH! Gotta love the internet.

Wow..for once I have to agree completely with Mondo on something...must be a cold day in hell, lol. Seriously though..some of the people out there really need a reality check. Is there really anything in this game..dealing with RP that is worth getting upset about? Let me answer that for you...NO. Have fun your own little way, and let others do the same..if you can't do that, well you might have a entirely different set of issues to deal with.
Now before any of the "intelligent" crowd out there even think about mentioning trolls, and how they go against the above statement...trolls have fun by pestering/bothering other people..let'em do it. Who really cares? Unless they are trolling you from your living room..it doesn't -really- affect you. Ignore them and move on. As for some of you and your "RP'ing skills"..lets think about this for a moment. Is there some kind of overall measure.or world wide scale that is used to judge someone's skill at RP'ing? Last I checked..no such thing existed, so how about -not- judging the skills of another person in a FAKE environment.
Its all made up folks..NONE of it is true..so who are any of us to say that another person's RP is right/wrong/good or bad? Yeah..I know I'm probably wasting my "breathe" typing this..but oh well..no different than wasting my time RP'ing when there are more constructive things I could be doing in RL. -
If it helps to ease the pain..you didn't miss much except another "finalist" line up of what was probably the worst ones in the CC. Seems to be a running trend of those CC's.
-
Part of me wants to be shocked that this arguement is -still- going on...but then the other part of me remembers this -is- Virtue ..the place where everyone is right and everyone is wrong at the same time. Seriously people..to some extent everyone here has made a valid point, but at the same time..those same people have come across as idiots who sit at their computer with a thesarus, breaking a sweat while trying to "out smart" the rest of the thread.
Let...It...Go. Take five RP'ers and line'em up. Chances are..you will find five different ways of RP'ing. Folks like different things for different reasons..accept it and move on. Come across something you don't like..avoid it, but don't spend 7 pages on a thread ******** about it, it only makes you look like a elitest ******* who thinks you're a notch or two above the rest of the community.
Whether its CoH or CoV..its Just...A...Game, I don't care if you did spend four days beating out the perfect character with the perfect plot and backstory..its still nothing more than pixels and words for people to see and identify however they deem fit.
With that said..I think its a good time to throw my newest character idea out there. Which btw was inspired by this thread. First off..its the dark-skinned (black), jewish, love child of Hitler and Statesman who has fallen in love with a demon-cat futa from Mexico and plans on marrying her. Before he can do that though..he has to eradicate all the white people from Paragon so he can move there. LOVE IT! -
I just wanna comment on the idea some people seem to have..that a character's personality/actions/whatever..reflect the player's. Now..lets for just a minute..lets say this is true. So..that means.. When Wesley Snipes isn't killing "vampires" he's out playing drag queen..or the guy who plays Lafeyette on True Blood..who has said in interviews that he is actually straight...this would mean he has a deep seeded desire to have sex with men and sell people vials of blood.
People..characters are just that...a character..not some reflection of a person's true thoughts and feelings. ALTHOUGH..sometimes, yes a person WILL put some or even alot of themselves into a character. Hell..lets face it...there are quite alot of "snarky versions of themselves" types in Pocket D. Truth be told though..unless you know the person..and by know I mean you have been in their damn house, because talking to someone on skype for ...even years will NOT tell you what kind of person he or she truly is, unless you /know/ the person..there is truly no way to determine whether the character in question shares feelings, opinions and thoughts with its player.
Bottom line..DON'T JUDGE THE PLAYER BASED ON THE CHARACTER. JUDGING THE PLAYER BASED ON SPELLING IS OK THOUGH :P kidding kidding..
Edit: Best example: Bernie Mack once played a black cop who HATED black people, yet Bernie Mack himself is/was (R.I.P.) quite proud of being black. -
I know this is the interwebz and folks very rarely agree completely on anything, but seeing as how we all play the same game here, I think there is at least one thing we all can agree on. PUGS can ...at random..go either way!
If you end up starting a pug, or just joining one, you can NOT EXPECT the team to run smooth and mesh well on the first mission. Hell, it might even take 3 or more before the entire team gets a feel for how best to run together. Sometimes it does start out great..we'll call that.. luck of the draw.
When in a pug, whether its one I started, or one I joined, I like to stick it out for at least 3 missions. By then I usually have a good idea of who likes to charge in, who likes to hang back, and who goes afk right after entering the mission.(yes, I've been on teams where the same guy went afk on EVERY mission, at the SAME point..at the door upon entry..but thats a story for a different thread)
If folks were to STOP EXPECTING people to either already do it "the right way" or to "fall in line" with what they want then this game would.. at times be much more enjoyable, and we'd see less and less threads with people ******** and whining because they said "do this" and another person said "kiss my ***". -
While I'm not exactly known for being polite, even I must say..you kinda went overboard there man. I mean.. ok.. so your the one who formed the team..big deal. Forming a team doesn't automatically give you the right to boss the team around. While having the star /does/ give you the ability to choose mission, invite more people, or even kick someone from the team, it doesn't mean you deserve respect.
Like another poster said earlier, respect is to be earned, and this isn't the military where a star means people are supposed to listen to you lol..its a game, the star means nothing more than. "Hey.. this guy can choose missions." Yes, your right that one person was a little out of line..maaybe just a little, but at the same time so were you in just kicking him. Of course, this /is/ a MMO, where folks seem to thrive on being overly sensitive little whine *****, but still.. -
Oh no! My global might have to be changed a little bit.. or even worse....completely! AAAHH! *runs around the room screaming about the world coming to a end..then suddenly stops* Oh wait...I just remembered..its A GAME...not a big deal.. *shrugs and goes outside*
-
I just started having this same problem last night..its a real pain in the ***..and considered my EXTREMELY limited knowledge about pc's..I really don't see myself figuring this out on my own. lol.
Plan on calling tech support when they open in a hour..hopefully they can give me some decent info. If they DO, then I'll post what they tell me here, for anyone else that might be having this issue. -
As far as "rules" for RP..I can sum it up rather quickly..
1. Its is preferred by most if OOC statements are encased in brackets.
2. If your character preforms a action in your RP, please emote it instead of encasing it in * *. The latter is just annoying as hell, not to mention /can/ slow the flow of a rp down if speaking is mixed in with the action.
3. Don't let /anyone/ tell you what "good" or "bad" rp is. Also..don't avoid places in game because someone said .. "Pocket D is horrible for rp" or whatever else they might say about a particular area ingame. Try things out for yourself before passing judgment. Afterall.. whats fun for one person, might not be fun for another. "Good" rp is nothing more than a matter of opinion.
4. Have fun, and I hope you enjoy your time on Virtue. Welcome to the nuthouse. -
I agree with Rylas, we should all just be happy with the fact Transformers is still around and going strong like it is. Afterall.. it COULD'VE gone the way of Thundercats, Visionaries, and all the other great cartoons from the 80's. Show me ONE BRAND NEW episode of Thundercats, oh.. and brand new to ME not you.. I've seen the entire 80's series.
Let me help.. you wont' find one. Accept the fact that your favorite things might change over time, but as long as they keep the core concept the same...its ok right? Prime is still the same Prime he was back then.. he just looks a bit different, the same with all the transformers. -
Not the big of a deal.. a few years ago, a army reservist legally changed his name to Optimus Prime.. dude lived in Ohio.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the OP was expecting/hoping for someone to go on a rant about how PL'ers and the like are ruining the game..but um... 880mill infl? Tell the guy to send me a pm ingame.. I'll PL him.
-
Lets hope so. Since every place I've seen that announcement..it said the same thing.
-
Here is THE BEST advice you'll ever get. IF your going to play a MMO.. try to work on NOT being so sensitive. No one here even came close to insulting you, they simply answered your question in their own way. Might've been a sarcastic way but if sarcasm is something you find insulting then hell...you might wanna stay off the interwebs all together.
-
In the announcement it clearly states that the downtime for EST will be ALL DAY.. 6am to 9pm. I'm really hoping this was a typo because if not.. WTF
-
I also have a Demon/Dark MM at lvl 50 and to be honest..my demons can still be rather squishy at times. My toon isn't fully IO'd out yet though, so maybe that has something to do with it. I /have/ seen a fully IO'd out DS though and again.. demons still squishy. The upside to this was he would kill any PC/NPC quick enough that it the squishy demons weren't a concern.
