"It was here that Earth's explorers first encountered the mysterious entities of the Shadow Shard. Their threat was implicit and the need to keep them contained became a driving force in the establishment of Tempest Sector. As a representative of Paragon City, you have joined the fight to prevent the denizens of the Shadow Shard from extending their range into your home dimension. Some see their discovery of Primal Earth's dimension as inevitable; a "coming storm" which could rival the Rikti Invasion in destructive potential."

Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!

Or that could be some phrasing meant to misdirect. Which would be more interesting.

Either way, looking forward to finding out.

Man, I hope so! I remember the original Rularuu invasion, that was awesome. Here's hoping for another!

Destructive potential = a chance to revamp the city?
The first Rikti invasion transformed the look of Paragon City, so something on a similar scale could open lots of interesting new things looks-wise for the game world.

That would be awesome if part of the Coming Storm included some city "revamping."

YES. YES. YEEEEESSSSS.

I've been a fan of the Shard since it debuted, and anything that hints towards its expansion into its full potential is music to my ears. I just love the crap out of cosmic horror and general, and have long thought that something on par with Galactus or the Anti-Monitor or Unicron or Azathoth is something this game has needed for far too long.

Well I mean, technically it already had it, it just wasn't any sort of threat.

On th eone hand, we have the echoes in the incarnate bit - which are sort of like reflections.

On the other, one of those echoes is one of Ruularu's aspects. Which isn't necessarily a point *against* it, but still.

Of course, if the Rularuu bring with them brand-new mission maps and tilesets, then I will welcome those floaty eyeball freaks with open arms.
It'd be nice to see some new types of Rularuu while they're at it, something on the same sort of scale as the Rikti changeover from naked to armored suits.

This shiny's got my brain all up in beans. The city folk know Thinkin' Dude from before when they busted his britches and kicked him in a cage. A cage the Nighty-Night Men rolled up right in front of everyone's peepers! You want to study up on this Dream Land and learn about Thinkin' Dude's chompers, you just gotta give your buddy Monty a ring-a-ling and make him flap his trap, know what I'm sayin'?

My initial thought was this could be one of the reasons why there is a signed NDA for I20 but I then just thought they wouldn't have done the Loading Screen comp a little while ago if they were planning on changing the layout/look of all the zones.

But a Shadow Shard revamp would be very nice none the less!

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

Talk like this makes me want to hurt you. Bad.

It would make sense. The Shadow Shard is a big ball of story hooks that are fairly significant to the CoX lore, but the place has been thoroughly outdated for a ridiculously long time. If they're waiting to revamp it for when they can drop this little bombshell, well, why do more work than you need to?

This is why we don't have nice things. You. You make them not give us nice things. You took our nice things away. But, just maybe, if I hurt you, nice things will fall out. Like a pinata of pain and glee. Messir Basilisk? Would you like the duct tape, or the first swing?

While I very much enjoy the prospect of Rularuu and the Shadow Shard lore - some of the best in-game plotlines in my opinion - coming into centre stage, I don't really think there's much to be gained guessing about it. We're not going to see a Cataclysm, that much I can say, but what WILL we see? I don't know.

Nah. My money's still on the Battalion.

As much as I love Rularuu, I'm expecting something far, far worse.
