Amazingly enough right after that reclassification they started to find life all over the Solar System.

According to something my dad read earlier today, they (I guess "they" being the author of the article) expect some announcement that they've found arsenic-eating bacteria on Titan.

I'll bet if the bacteria eat arsenic and excrete something useful like Vigara we'd be building 100 new spaceships to get there.

Today's the day we meat ET!
What do you mean 'meat' ET?
...and I'm not sure how I feel about scientists playing around with homegrown Alien lifeforms with deadly bacteria for innards - Last time I watched Alien Resurrection it did not end well.
I hope there is more to this NASA announcement personally.
I saw a supposed advance leak from this earlier that said it's just weird bacteria found on Earth, as people have been guessing. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

EDIT: Okay, a microbe with arsenic-based DNA? That's pretty cool, actually. Even if it's not an alien, it's still pretty weird.

Well that's still cool on some level. If we continue to find very weird "extremophile" versions of life here on Earth then there will be better odds that similar types of non-carbon based alien life will be found out there.

I, for one, welcome our arsenic eating bacterial overlords.

Yeah, "Life" just got redefined. All livings being require phosphorous is a basic rule of biology. That has been proven wrong today. That's awesome.

That one thing I'd rather avoid to find.
So the press conference is over. Interesting find, for sure. What a lovely weird microbe they've go. Arsenic-based life. Who knew something like that could work?
So, good for NASA, they found something neat this time. All current books on biology just got outdated. Fun.

I'm guessing that such a discovery also means that the notion of silicon substituting for carbon got a lot less science-fictiony.
