Discussion: Check out the special Cyber Monday Deals for City of Heroes.
Now maybe my friend will buy some of these packs. Since he needs pretty much all of them still hehe.
Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.
While I'm happy to see a Cyber sale for 'some' of these packs for CoH, as well as the Best Buy deal, I have to admit, there are several 'fail' issues with this (yo, Black Pebble and Sales Department, take note):
Take a hint, sales/marketing. You could've knocked the ball outta the park on this one. |
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters
I haven't purchased any of the booster packs, but I'd be the most interested in the Martial Arts pack. I'll check on the 29th to see if they happen to put it on sale too. If they do, I'll probably buy it.
I pulled the trigger. That's right, I did it, in Warburg, with the pistol. - Mista Chains
Everyone know the Tank Archetype get the most drops of all the types. This is because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus...but you'll never read this in the wiki - "Rx10"

Same here. Ever since they buffed Sprint, Ninja Run + Sprint allows you to travel fast enough to be on the same level as the other travel powers. That is just too good for me to ignore. It's like you can buy a travel power now. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

I'm surprised that Ingame Item packs STILL do not exist for either the CoH DVD (Cape of the Four Winds, VIP/Destined One badge, Prestige Power Slide) or CoV DVD items (Arachnos Chest Symbol, Arachnos Cape). I'm sure there are people that would pay for a combined CoH/CoV Collector's DVD Ingame Goodies pack.
|
I got the CoH collector's edition pack for $10 back around issue 8, shortly after I started with the CoV collector's edition box(last one I ever saw and even the regular copy wasn't for sale).
I'm glad I bought it when I did, but hope they bring it back for others.
"Prestige Power Slide" is still the most awesome sprint power ever.
I also vote for them to fix the dumb store and probably extend the special prices for a total of 3 days.
I bought the Mac Special Edition item pack a while back and I couldn't even buy a single other booster pack at the time. Granted, it was a good thing that it stopped me, but it really bugged me that the stupid store had a fit about me buying more than one item.
I haven't even tried purchasing time for the game yet since I've been lucky enough to get deals for physical game time cards, but if it screws me over there too I may just say "they don't want my money so I'm taking it elsewhere, screw them".
They need to fix the store or risk losing the players they gained and veterans.
. Furthermore, if I've been paying with the same valid card for over 5 years, it seems like I could reach some sort of "trusted" status.

If (playtime > 1 year) norestrictions=true;
shouldn't be that hard for them.

There's a limit of 3 items per day per household, regardless of which credit card you use.
I ran into this a week or so ago trying to buy 4 items for 2 accounts using 2 credit cards. :P |
I've never seen another retail environment that screams GET OUT, WORM, YOU HAVE BOUGHT ENOUGH! when you hit some arbitrary limit.

"On November 29th, Cyber Monday, North American Best Buy® Game Zone members can buy the City of Heroes Going Rogue Complete Collection for $9.99 for one day only through BestBuy.com."
So hoping someone can help me out on this, because I was hoping to find a link to join the ultra exclusive Best Buy Game Zone members...not seeing it. Um, perhaps does that mean the Best Buy Reward Zone? the Best Buy Reward Zone Gamers Club? Or perhaps some place on Gamezone.com that is not leaping out at me when I stare at their website?
Please someone expand my knowledge and help me lighten my wallet, but only for only $9.99
I already own all the boosters, so this sale doesn't help me. But, I imagine the old boosters see few sales, so this is a good way to get a boost of sales revenue from some stale products.
I'll chime in to agree with others re: the NC store. I've never purchased more than one thing at a time, but it boggles my mind there's an arbitrary limit to number of purchases one can make. Talk about artificial barriers to making a sale -- very poor practice. Also, can they please make the "remember credit card for future use" tick box -- you know -- actually work? Either that or just remove it. Pretty silly to tick the thing off every time I buy a booster, only to have to re-enter my credit card details the next time I buy something.
Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.

Both are completely free. You don't need the Reward Zone credit card they will offer.
Once you're signed up, you just use your membership sign in to buy the collection at the website or just buy it in the store.
I suggest signing up in store and buying it in store since it is easier and saves time. Just make sure they get you signed up for Reward Zone and scan your membership card before any purchases or it may be a hassle to get it all worked out because of some funky computer glitch.
Edit:
Maybe you can only buy it online for the reduced price, but signing up for RewardZone and the Gamer's Club is easier i the store.
So let me see if I understand this.
If I wait until next Monday I can save the price of two bottles of diet coke, because I'll only be able to buy something costing the price of four and then I'll be locked out.
No, the store allows for 3 purchases per day, when it is working right. Unfortunately only one at a time though and each time you have to re-input your card info since the store will not save the data for some reason.

Now I have 2 questions:
1- Can I buy the Complete Collection on an account that I have already applied the GR Preorder? If it includes a month of game time, it seems like a no brainer for $9.99.
2- Can I buy more than 1 at that price?

Also, I would contact support for City of Heroes and ask them the pre-order/complete collection question.
I don't think you can apply the Complete Collection code to an account that got the pre-order.
I know for sure that buying more than one Complete Collection is a waste as you can't apply the code to an account that already has it.
This is really annoying if you find a good deal on an old box you already have and just want the game time, but that's the way it is, sadly.
What if we just bought the game today? Don't tell me I just spent 40 bucks on a game when I could have gotten it for 10 if I'd waited. :S
Yes you did. But if the box is unopened, you can return it and get your $40 back.
Another option is to keep the receipt, then buy the game again for $10 on Monday and return that unopened box on Tuesday with the $40 receipt.

Yeah, I bought it online. Oh well, I guess I'll take advantage of the sale on the enhancement sets.

If you use PayPal, you can buy multiple things from the NCSoft store per day. At least I can, anyway... I think I bought 5 Boosters/Packs for my secondary account in one day when my girlfriend at the time said she wanted to start playing CoH with me.
I've found that if I use my credit card for a single purchase on the NCSoft store, though, I'm locked out any further purchases for 24 hours.

Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges

When it comes to business and bringing in more dollars, I'd expect a company such as NCSoft to muster up more viable solutions than the same broken, archaic method they have now so as to take the 'limiting' factor out of the equation. Examples abound all over the internet today of thriving 'mom & pop' online stores that have more expansive options for payment than what NCSoft provides currently.
