Disney's Avengers, Any Good?
As I DVR this show, I always skip the into. I listened once, didn't care for it, so I move on.
I am liking the show. I would love for some of the storylines to be more developed, but I may be a little spoiled from all the different storylines I've read over the years. (The Kree/Skrull war lasted 8 issues, the Korvac saga around 10 issues, and the Avengers Under Siege lasted for 5 issues.)
Gotta say though: love that they have Hawkeye in it. He was always my favorite Avenger as a kid, I've loved the verbal sparring he would do with various characters over the years. (Cap, She Hulk, etc.)
I find your lack of signature disturbing.
As I said earlier, I enjoy the show. But that wont stop me from finding one small nit to pick, which is more of an observation than a criticism.
Does it seem that theyre downplaying Iron Mans strength? In the comics, his strength level was just below Thor and the Hulk. (assuming his armor was charged to its maximum capacity) In the show, however, theyre portraying him more as a blaster. He fights enemies with his repulsor rays and uni-beam, but doesnt seem to engage in melee combat. I get the sense that this is intended to reinforce the role of the Hulk and Thor as the teams two powerhouses.
This seems similar to how the Timmverse portrayed the Martian Manhunter. Both Justice League and JLU showcased the Martians other powers and downplayed his strength, which allowed Superman and Wonder Woman to act as the teams heavy hitters.
If this is a conscious choice, then Im OK with it. I still make it a point to watch the show every week. Im just glad to see an animated superhero series being done by people who respect the source material and love the characters as much as the fans do.

I like to think of it more as them normalizing all of the characters. You could argue that Thor or Hulk are massively under their top level, as well.

More seriously though, as pointed out (and demonstrated) by Cap, Tony doesn't actually know how to fight. Even if he did have the armor juiced up to Thor levels, I'd think he'd be more of a liability trying to mix it up in melee. He's far more useful blasting folks, I'd think. It's also the beginning of his career as Iron Man...makes sense that he wouldn't have his armor operating at the top end of the Marvel strength scale just yet.

The super strength is there for Iron Man. In his mini-sodes set, he picked up a car one-handed, and caught a giant robot's flying head before it fell on some bystanders. It's there, he just doesn't use it in combat much. Probably ties into him having no hand-to-hand skills, as Cap demonstrated later on.

I had forgotten about the mini-sodes.
With regard to Iron Man's strength, I was recalling a backup feature I read in an old Spider-Man comic that classified all of Marvel's heroes by their strength level. Iron Man was actually in the "Super Heavyweight" class with Hulk and Thor. Of course, his dialog balloon made it clear that he couldn't sustain it. He said something to the effect of "When fully charged, my armor is in this class... for about five seconds."
I likethe it. They need to flesh out the roster, and have a few "breather" episodes (right now it feels like all the series has been non-top fight-scenes or 30 minutes, admittedly they've m anage to cram in a lot of character development in there, but still)
A bit too many scientists (Hank, T'Challa and Tony) they should definitely bring in Carol or Wanda to the team.
"Men strunt r strunt och snus r snus
om ock i gyllne dosor.
Och rosor i ett sprucket krus
r stndigt alltid rosor."
Sadly no new episode today. Just a repeat of "The Masters of Evil."

Heck, even in the movies, you don't really see Iron Man doing much hand-to-hand besides smashing things around, and the Iron Man/War Machine fight was basically a drunken brawl. He's always most effective when blasting.
Sorry if this has been brought up but how the heck is this disney if it's on Cartoon Network, a WARNER BROS channel?
It's Called Avengers EMH.
Yes, there is a Marvel Supers IP show on CN. Super Hero Squad.
This thread is discussing, in general, Avengers: EMH on Disney XD.
IIRC, SHS was in development well before the Great Mouse God bought Marvel. You could of also make the same arguments about Wolverine & the X-Men or the most recent FF Series on nicktoons before those series were dropped.
Now then...
Of what I've seen of A:EMH, I like it. Solid story arcs, great action, and a solid (and classic) team roster. And through this series, I think, you're getting a solid of a overview of the what the Marvel Universe is at it's best. While I haven't picked up comics, per say, in nearly 15 years, I am quite pleased with this series.
Thank you for the time...
Odd I could have sworn I saw the CN watermark logo on one of the videos I watched. Granted all the episodes I watch now have the teletoon logo because the uploader is Canadian. I guess there's no Jetix or Disney XD in Canada?
A few more interesting voice actors in the series...
Lance "Bishop from Aliens" Henrickson is the voice of Grim Reaper
Kari "Sliders" Wurher is the voice of SHIELD agent Maria Hill.
Steve "Spike from Cowboy Bebop" Blum is the voice of the Red Skull (and Wolverine)
Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamill is the voice of Ulysses Klaw.
On a side note Gorge "father of Star Wars" Lucas played a character in Clone Wars recently. He was a clear Gary Stu too.
Edit: Oh yea Hamil was on Catroon Network's "Chibi-Avengers" as Red Skull. But what I was actually thinking of Is Kingdom Hearts BBS where he plays Square's answer to Yen Sid, Eraqus :P
He's also played the Joker THREE times recently. I wonder how many other VA's Can say they played the main arch-villain of Cap America AND Batman
Well, the Super Hero Squad show actually uses some of the most recent VA's for their own version of the characters, like Steve Blum as Wolvie and Fred Tastasciore as Hulk. They even had Ray Stevenson as the Punisher.
Another repeat today, and next Sunday DX is advertising a "Valentine's Villain Marathon" of the Avengers. So more repeats.
It may be a while before we see new episodes.
"A great love is alot like a good memory. When it's there and you know it's there, but it's just out of your reach. It can be all that you think about. You can focus on it and try to force it but the more you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if you're patient and hold still...maybe...just maybe...it will come to you. I just need to be somewhere she can find me" - Church from Red vs Blue
I will admit I had very low expectations for the show...but...
The intro is not the worst in the world...I dont mind the song...it is much better than half the garbage that anime shows that are brought over to North America use...for whatever reason I find that song fits that intro...
I was worried about the way they would use Thor...I am a huge Thor fan and was expecting Thor to be doing the job to villains so Hulk could jump in and make the save...but they have really done a great job at showing his disconnect from the world of mortals and he is seen as a major player...the moment where he deflects Kang'd blast at New York was epic...especially the "For Migard!!!!' moment...
Each member is different and brings something different to the mix...and this is handled really well....it is just not there abilities but their personalities are also unique and mesh together well...there is also no "interchangeable parts" vibe to the team which is good...you just can not just plug Wasp in and remove Hawkeye and have it come off the same...
I think as long as the series continues as it is....it is a gem for Marvel...they have had very few animated shows that I feel were must watch...the 90's Spiderman was one...this is so purchase worthy when it is released on DVD...
