Megamind

Noone saw Megamind this weekend? Noone commented?

Hmm...I didn't think it was THAT bad! Kinda enjoyed it, actually. If "Soon I Will Be Invincible" had a sense of humor, it'd have been "Megamind".

Anyone?

I just haven't had the opportunity to see it. I usually wait for the cartoon movies to come out on video because I hate theaters filled with screaming kids.

I saw it last night, in 3-D.

It was good, typical Dreamworks Animated film. Full of pop culture references, big name cast, funny, not as deep as a typical Pixar film.

Favorite part? Will Ferrell's Marlon Brando impersonation.

Saw it this afternoon and quite liked it.

Had a laugh at the Obama Poster in it. Enjoyed it immensely.

What is the difference between a villain and a supervillain? Showmanship. Guess that works for beroes and superheroes

Saw it Saturday (forced to because there were no other family friendly movies and my 12 year old niece was with us). Decent flick. It had some laugh out loud moments and some clever details... but... yeah. It's certainly no Pixar film.

Favorite part: Megamind's "No You Can't" poster.

Oh yeah, the "No You Can't" poster got the biggest laughs from the audience in my showing.

I saw it and enjoyed it. I was a little unsure that I would as I'm not a Will Ferrell fan, but it wasn't that bad.

Watched it. Loved it. So did my daughter. And the audience was laughing as well.

I consider MegaMind to be one of Will Farrell's top two movies (I liked Stranger Then Fiction, and havent seen The Other Guys yet...hoping that's good...the others I'm meh on).

We'll probably go see it this weekend when the "kiddie-crowd" dies down a bit. We'll also probably avoid seeing it in 3-D. The recent stab at 3-D barely worked for Avatar and I've read they think they'll finally have "glasses-less" 3-D in about 10 years. I'm willing to wait for it until then.

What? There was great humor in "Soon I Will Be Invincible", it just wasn't primarily a comedy.

Saw it yesterday. It was good, not great. It really was a kiddie film -- the story just didn't have a lot of depth to it. But it was an enjoyable kiddie film with some good moments.

Want to know the definition of torture? I had to sit through the Justin Beiber 'movie' preview before Megamind started. There's nothing worse than a hollywoodized 'inspirational story' about a young, white, middle class 'nobody' that got picked to be Disney's new poster-child.

Except he isn't "Disney" and neither is that movie, it's MTV which is Viacom.

I may not like the concept of manufactured teen stars in the US but we have nothing on Japan.

Saw it Sunday with the girlfriend. We both loved it. Twas funny. Also, I think there is more to it than people give it credit for. I like that Megamind went through a slower transformation. In fact, he really didn't realize it until the last quarter of the movie.

Anyway, Megamind and Despicable Me are a couple of my favorite movies this year. I guess I'm just a sucker for this story.

Now that I think about it, a lot of the movies I remember over the past few years were all CG. The two aforementioned, along with Kung Fu Panda (preview for the sequel was shown at Megamind!), The Incredibles, Wall-E, Monsters, Inc., and one of my personal favorites, Up. Aside from the Iron Mans and Batmans, I can't really think of any live action movies I've enjoyed nearly as much as the "cartoons". Well, there was Inception.

My favorite quote in that was some girl saying something like: "He's really an inspiration to me because he came from a small town." Really? Because, successful people only come from big cities, I guess. Apparently, if you live in a small town your ambition is relegated to local gossip and rocking in your chair. Oh, and you don't have any talent. You can't, as you're not from L.A./New York! Foolish small town people!

Also, been hearing on the radio on the way to work lately that the guy is a tremendous jerk. Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard several reports involving completely different events.

Yeah but the Japanese take the "manufactured" part of that description a little too seriously.

I thought it was good. Not as good as Kung-Fu Panda or How to Train Your Dragon, but it had it's moments, like this gem: (Also spoilers, maybe, but the trailers already took care of that)

Megamind: In case you haven't noticed, you've fallen right into my trap!
Metro Man: You can't trap justice! It's an idea, a BELIEF!
Megamind: Even the most heartfelt belief can be corroded over time!
Metro Man: Justice is a non-corrosive metal!
Megamind: But metals can be melted, by the heat of revanche!
Metro Man: It's REVENGE, and it's best served cold!
Megamind: But it can be easily reheated, in the microwave of evil!
Metro Man: Well, I think your warranty's about to expire!
Megamind: Maybe I got an extended warranty!
Metro Man: Warranties are invalid, if used beyond their intended purpose!
Roxanne Ritchi: [exasperated] Girls, girls, you're both pretty! Can I go home now!

With the way things are going we could very well be wiped out by Japanese-based killer robots.
I'm just hoping we'll have a few years with the Japanese-based sexbots before that happens.

Haven't really seen the movie, but I did see this review of it. The only reason I'm reposting that is because I got a chuckle out of the "It looks like Paragon City for cryin' out loud!" line

I really liked it.

I've heard some folks say it's simplistic, and at first glance kind of thought that myself, but I think the goal of the film was to appear that way... at first. I think a lot of it was about the characters outgrowing their simplistic "four-color" style world, and becoming something more than their expected roles. The dialogue was witty and overall it was just a fun movie.

I'll definitely add it to my library when it comes out.

And yeah... Forget-Me Stick

I couldn't agree more.
