Smallville 10/15/10
Still ten minutes left, but I think this might actually be the best episode of Smallville. Nice to see James Marsters back. Now if only they keep going with the realizations rather than going back to regular Emo-man.
totally one of thee best episodes of SmallVille ever ... had a very "A Chrismas Carol / It's A Wonderful Life" type vibe to it ... soo great to see soo much nostalgia in one episode , not to mention Brainiac 5 and soo kewl of a glimps into the future and a homage to the helicopter on the roof scene and the conversation with himself and, and and, and... just soo much epic win in this episode ... best ending for it aswell . they finally said it
Okay, what was the date on the newspaper? I missed it, so I dunno what year that was supposed to be.
Yeah, it was cut off for me too. Oct 15 201?.

Best episode i've seen in a long time. Fun. I giggled when he met himself in the elevator. Yay for movie references too.

A bunch of Villains -Black Citadel , Pinnache.
Great! Didn't bother to watch it because it sounded like a clip episode with even less happening than either of the first couple of episodes this season.
Just going to have to add it to my list of episodes to catch online.

Good episode though it kind of bugged me that they just made Brainiac 5 the original Brainiac. I realize that they didn't really want to go into Querl Dox's origin and it was easier to just go with Brainiac with some software updates but it still annoyed me. Still a good episode.

The episode wherein the show's writers chastise themselves for making Clark an emo whiny little dogette.

I was excited for Smallville when it started 10 years ago. I gave up after season 3 or maybe 4 because I was tired of the freak-of-the-week stories, amoung other things. I came back last season for the Hawkman/ Doctor Fate episode and decided to watch season 10, hoping they'd finally give us Superman.
This is the type of episode I have been waiting for. I totally enjoyed this episode. If only they could have done 10 seasons of this.

Hard not to call this a good episode. I was kind of hoping when he said goodbye to his dad he would take off flying but at least he got to do some floating with Lois. I just wish he had told her who he was then too.
What sucks is episodes like this show us that the writers are aware of the kind of crap they pull and yet they continue to pull it. Also, next week looks like it will be a quality drop as they dip into the Charmed formula of "let's see who goes bad this week."

Yeah this show was good.. very cool to see the flash back scenes.. but to see Future clark appear to past clark was awesome.
Also him flying at the end made total sense.
Great episode, very character driven.
Oh and Green Arrows speach at the end was awesome!

the only thing that really could have been improved about the speech by Ollie is for him to add another line to the effect "to protect my planet" as it would fit with what we know he knows, the story arc, and his character.

By far this episode shows alot of promise in moving clark forward. But I have to say we have been here before. We have seen clark take all these steps to try and put his past, his mistakes behind him, to step forward and accept his role. Only for the next episode to simply be more of the same emo-man the series has saddled the character with for 9 years.
If they truely go forward from this point then that is great, and makes this a very solid episode. If he falls back into his funk, then the episode is simply a "what coulda been" that will be easily forgotten.
My only issue honestly is the flight/hovering at the end was just a bit to much peter pan for me. "Think a happy thought" really shouldnt have been how be broke through his power block. More like a 747 is dropping out of the sky should have forced it IMO.
I think the writers have been aware for quite some time that they could be doing more.
The problem is that it was a top CW show *exactly* because it followed the formula of their other shows, with enough superpowered seconds thrown in to reach a broader audience. I think now that this is the last season and they don't need to worry about deviating from that formula any longer they can give us some progression at long last.
The question is 'will they'?
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
I love the look on his face when he watches himself deal with a Nuke.
They need more moment where Clark is learning how to be a superhero. If there is conflict in the character; it is there. Showing Clark deal with the question of, " How the hell do I deal with this?"
As with everyone else... I loved this episode. It's so *nice* to finally have progress in the show.
One thing that bugs me... and it's a bit nit-picky, time-travel-paradoxy stuff...
If Brainiac 5 felt like he needed to go to the past to help Clark... Well... the future we saw didn't look all that bleak. I suppose the future changed to a more positive one as soon as Clark jumped forward in time (being self-caused... as this future provided him with the moment which allowed him to move on and become that future self)....
Then again, maybe I missed something. I didn't read the headlines on a few of the newspaper articles they showed. Maybe this future had a horrible war (hence the nuke) and forced Superman to step up... and Brainiac 5 traveled back to get him to 'mature' sooner so to prevent the war all together.
I'm going to have to watch the episode again. I'm starting to realize I wasn't watching with a clear head. I guess being hit with storyline progress after having gone so long without it really hinders my ability to pay attention to the details.
Best episode of the series, by far. This is how they should move forward, and this type of work could make for a great Superman series after Smallville is over. But then they show the previews for next week, and I bet they go back to the same old nonsense and lois will get amnesia after becoming egyptian lass.

I hope to hear Lois do the Isis encantations...
Oh zephir winds which blows on high, lift me now so I can fly!
Er yes I know who Isis is. I just don't know why they would make Lois Isis when I saw on IMDB that they would have some other actress playing Adrianna Tomaz/Isis, other than to, again, use that groan-worthy Charmed formula of "let's see who goes evil this week" and fulfill their quota of Lois in a skimpy outfit.
Also, I thought they would have had an Isis episode while Lois was still in Africa. The only good thing I can see about this so far is maybe it will lead to an appearance by Black Adam.

Adrianna shouldn't appear unless she time travels from the future during the year she had powers at all...
