Raise the inf cap
/unsigned and NO to this idea. and Je, please link me to where it says that off market transactions are against the TOS.

I'll put down a billion inf on 'eating your words' because there's nothing to link.

I can't even begin to fathom how someone might even consider this a violation of the terms of service.
Oddly enough... while I'm typing this out... I read the description of what this forums is for:
This forum is to discuss the Consignment Market system and Inventions. Come here to make suggestions, bid or sell items, and discuss all features of the game economy. THIS IS FOR IN GAME ITEMS ONLY! |
Someone needs to put a bookmark on this thread so we can show people what a pile-on REALLY looks like.
Je_saist, I'm going to add my voice to the hordes crying "You're wrong." Because you are. There's a shadow of a doubt about off-market transactions, there's maybe a 1% chance your twisted interpretation is correct, but as far as "players in their 50's having no inf" ... you're just flat out wrong. You could be running in SG mode, 8-person teams, never get the first debt badge, and keep all your SO's green [except for level 5N+2, where they're white] and you would STILL have 5-10 million left at level 50. How do I know? That's how I PLAYED for the first 8 issues and that's how much inf I had left over at level 50.

In over two years, I've never seen a poster who tries as hard as you to act like they know what they're talking about, and is so consistently wrong with nearly every single thing they say. And, as usual, when you get called out on it in a thread, you'll never show yourself here again, and just wait for some other thread to pop up where you can act like you have a clue what you're talking about...

Mind-altering substances are bad, mkay?
We've been able to trade cash and goods off-market for ages, and we can trade vastly more than 2B worth of goods in a single transaction. Apparently, you think that using the trade interface that's part of the documented game interface is a violation of the terms of service. Classic.

With everything worth getting in WW is like 20+ million inf....the 2 billion cap is really not that much. We need them to raise it to maybe 5-10 billion.

thought up a good analogy for raising the inf cap last night while chatting with my homies in the market channel:
if programming the game was voodoo and raising the inf cap meant sacrificing a chicken, I'd be all for it. If it meant sacrificing a cow, I'd have second thoughts.

You know what? No. This will not stand. Like many groups political and social, furries need to do a better job of calling out the seriously dysfunctional people who wear the cloak, so on behalf of my fuzzy sisters and brothers and, for good measure, catgirls everywhere I say to you:

... and just what would this do to the player struggling to just SO their avatar out at level 50?
You know, 1%+ of the entire playerbase. |
Seriously, in a Post I-9 world, you gotta duck to avoid all the Inf the game throws at you. I'm nottalking about Marketeering, either. Just playing the game normally and dumping your unwanted drops at the market for 5 Inf each will score you all you need to enhance fully and then some.
Even pre-I9, money problems pretty much disappeared once you were level 30+. That was when SO's started dropping from mobs. Seems funny to say it now, but back then that made a big difference in a player's income.
It used to be more important which vendor you sold your unwanted enhancements to. Now it's "40% more for my DOs and SOs? Pfft. I got 2 Alchemical Silvers, a Luck Charm and a Hamidon Goo. I'm off to the Market!"
Seriously though, one orange salvage sold at ~2 Million is how many SOs?
/nod
I usually delete the enhancements that drop, there is so much inf available.
Well, Castle said items selling at or above the price cap is an indication that the system is "broken". This suggests that they would like to do something about it.

I am not a fan of either raising the inf cap or drop rates.

out of the approximate 760 possible IOs out there 2 or 3 selling above the inf cap is enough of an edge case that I am not sure the system is broke. if anything the dozen or more IOs labeled "vendor trash" is a sign that drop rates are too high.

If they really want to balance the system out, they need to reduce some bonuses while increasing others, or just propagate the desired bonuses across more sets.
Case and point: Nearly every purple set offers the following bonuses: +Acc and +Recharge.
I have yet to find a build that is significantly better building for something other than recharge. If I do, I may consider slotting purples in that build.
Aside from +Recharge and +Acc - we see most people commonly slotting for S/L def and positional def. Why? Well, because the set bonuses on everything else are insignificantly small, or they are so situational, they're generally not worth building for.
Why don't people slot for +Dmg? Because even if you were somehow able to slot each and every one of them (you can't - you don't have enough slots) you'd still only get a 64.5% bonus to your damage. Eat 3 reds and beat it every time. Get Hasten, and your global recharge is enough to outpace that same 64.5% damage bonus - and you get all of the other bonuses of the sets
Until they take a serious look at the set bonuses, you're always going to see vendor trash. I just wish there wasn't so dang much of it so people could have options!
People slot for +Def, but no one really looks to slot for Damage Resist.
"Debt Protection" a.k.a "Badge Protection"? That's just a placeholder, IMO, intended to keep cheap sets cheap.
Could be replaced with more Damage Resist to make slotting that way interesting.
And my kat/regen scrapper is built for +regen & melee defense rather than the astronomically more efficient recharge.
but generally, the issue with IO slotting is that a handful of things are wildly more useful to most builds than pretty much everything else on offer. I've slotted other stuff in the full knowledge that I'm going to underperform.
