My one human-transitioning-to-Rikti character would really LIKE his sword. I've been swapping to him every time I see an invasion since I rolled him, and all he needs is the UXB badge, which it seems like I'm never going to get since by the time I swap and get to him the bomb phase is over, or the invasion took place in a completely out-of-the-way zone and no one's participating 
We really need another Rikti invasion weekend at least!
PS: I vote AGAINST it being tied to a mothership raid badge. I've never done one and don't want to. Let's not tie a costume piece to RAID content, please? A "defeat 100 Rikti bosses" badge would be brilliant.
I brought the Rikti invasion thing up with Mod08 at the Party Pack gathering in Pocket D when it happened on Triumph. He said he'd make a note to schedule another one.
We've still got the Halloween and Winter events right around the corner, though, so don't be too discouraged if we don't see another one by the end of the year.

Tie them to any Rikti related badge is definitely one of the better ways to go, giving every player an equal chance.
...then globally unlock them.
It should be made like the Rularuu weapons: Tied to multiple different badges and souvenirs. The existing one, the one for U'kon Gr'ai, the souvenir for the end of the last RWZ arc, the badge for completing the Lady Grey TF, and maybe one or two others.

To the OP:
In the meantime, keep running the LGTF - each time it's completed, it spawns a Rikti invasion right afterward. Only problem is not knowing which zone it'll be in (including red or blueside). And as long as you're not going for the MoLGTF badge, you can probably haul through it reasonably quickly.
But I agree, I love Rikti invasions. Talk about a great place to get a lot of your badges at once - healing badges, damage badges, mez badges, mentoring badges...

It used to be there would be spates of invasions that would span about a fortnight, then stop for a while. We've not had any of them for an age I guess in part to do with GR launch but I really loved them (and to a lesser extent the Zombie invasions too)
I'd really like to see the invasions again but I guess there'd be a cry of "Boo, Devs hate Praetoria" cuz they dind't get the events

I don't think anything should be tied to killing Rikti Monkeys. It's too easy.
I'm happy with the badges and weapons as-is really. As others have said, there's ways to manufacture your own invasions pretty easily. Even the randomness of what zone it picks isn't as relevant now. Just make sure the character you want it on is Rogue or Vigilante before you run the LGTF.

out of curiosity, as i only recently started playing weapon based chars, do we only get the old rikti "car door" sword, or do we get the new big glow stick from the current rikti?

And one for Katana too...don't leave out poor old Katana in your unlockables list, you make it cry...just like it cries every time Broadsword gets more options added to it.
My Katana Scrapper wants that Rikti sword, because Katana has so few options, even fewer when you're a 6'6" female and half the swords scale down to the size of toothpicks.
Unfortunately in order to get it an invasion has to happen while I'm not in the middle of doing something else, and at least eight other people have to feel like fighting it off. This is the only accolade that depends on a bunch of other people feeling like doing the same thing you're doing. At least with TFs you have time to talk people into doing what you want to do; the invasions, not so much.

Bad idea. I'd say stick a few UXBs in the RWZ, make the Heavies that sometimes spawn there count and bingo. Problem solved.

At the moment the only attendants in there are during MSR's or the odd AE team..

As far as the Rikti weapons go, I've conceded that they pretty much may as well not even exist. Period. They're harder to get than most other weapons, Vanguard included, and that's IF you can even snag an invasion, and that's IF Invasions don't lag you to the pits of hell.
I may rant about the ITF, about 100 Overseers or about hundreds of Vanguard merits, but these are a cakewalk compared to the Rikti weapons. Such a massive investment for a single weapon, something you have to do multiple times for multiple characters, is just... Bad design, to say the least.

In order to unlock any of Rikti swords or blasters you need the Watchman Accolade. This accolade requires 3 badges you can only obtain during a Rikti Invasion (and it took me several invasions to finally get them all, especially the UXBs.)
Invasions are very, very rare these days, I guess one only launches after a LGTF now.
Solutions?
More invasions - Please regularly schedule some invasions to happen, at least give us a fighting chance.
Better solution you say?
Tie them to another Rikti badge - Mothership Raid badges are still slightly unfair to those on lower population servers, but are still an improvement over being locked to Invasions. A new "Defeat 100 Rikti Bosses" badge would also work well.
Even better you dare ask?!
Global Unlocking - Keep them how they are, but allow the pieces to be unlocked account-wide. Make this for all unlockables while you're at it and we'll call it a day.
