Update 8th September 2010:

The European contests are now up on Onrpg, Gamekult and OnlineWelten! And while I don't advise you to create a character that clashes with their surroundings, there is room for originality and creativity, it is Studio 55 after all!

************************************
1st September 2010:

*Please note this contest is only open to European residents*

Starting September 6th you will be able to showcase your talents by designing and naming an In-game NPC through the City of Heroes Character Creation tool and you could watch it become a permanent fixture in Praetoria's Studio 55 for all to see! Several of our European partners will be participating in this big contest that could result in your creative genius getting incorporated into City of Heroes® with the release of Issue 19!

It doesn't get any better than this and you don't even need an active account in order to participate. A trial version of City of Heroes is available here so all you need to do is download it, install it, log in and create a new character. And the best thing is you don't even need a credit card!

At the end of the contest period, our European partners will each provide their top entry to NCsoft for the Grand Prize which will not only include the NPC's inclusion in the game but also an nVidia GTX 460 1GB graphics card, a Razer Death Adder mouse and a digital copy of the City of Heroes Going Rogue Complete Collection!

There will only be one grand prize awarded for all of Europe (from the individual submissions passed along by each partner), so make your entry count!

As for the Runners Up (one for each partner site), they will each win everything that the grand prize winner receives (minus the in-game NPC) -- an nVidia GTX 460 1GB graphics card, a Razer Death Adder mouse and a digital copy of the City of Heroes Going Rogue Complete Collection! That's a pretty impressive prize package!

Here are our partners' sites, make sure to check them out next week:

Benelux & UK

OnRPG - http://www.onrpg.com/

France

Gamekult - http://www.gamekult.com

Germany

Onlinewelten - http://www.onlinewelten.com/

Each partner will also have 5 digital copies of City of Heroes Going Rogue Complete Collection and Comic Con Ghoul costume codes to give away so make sure you head over to the participating websites next week for several chances to win amazing prizes!

Good luck!

We exist! Eureka!

Okay... fairly stoked by this. Okay, so I'm REALLY stoked. Especially as it involves a medium which doesn;t require external talent, like drawing or animating things.

Huzzah! Go go marketing department!

Wow. An EU-only contest wasn't what I had in mind, but it's really quite remarkable to see. Really looking forward to entering this. With this and the Loading Screen contest, I can only send a huge thanks to those who make these things happen.

SOOOOO glad the EU finally gets a contest all of their very own. They deserve it, that's for sure. And those prizes are no slouch either.

I just hope some NA chizz tosser doesn't come along and yap about it being EU-Exclusive...

One question however about this NPC we have to create.

Since the large majority of NPCs in the studio are standard civilian clothed, does our entry have to be of that sort? Of the partying "plain" type?

Just so i know whether you want an actual civilian in the building or would allow a character which is clearly superpowered off duty in there?

This is completely up to you and don't forget the name will be a big part of the design too. Don't call a beefy, evil, maniacal looking character Teddy Bear or Cuddly Prince...although now that I'm thinking about it, it sounds rather appealing.

Anyway, let your imagination guide your mouse!

So how are you EU players posting and creating a character at the same time? Time to get to work!
