Why fight Carnies?

Yes, because their pain and anguish is soon over.

Because they're more of a challenge than "Hey, let's just mow through them" council or freakshow. Those get to be really boring.

No, few if any of my characters have all that much psi/end drain resist. Have a few dark armors being leveled, at which point they'll probably seem boring, but I find it fun on my *fire* tanks.

Yeah, the KoA arent that hard to kill...its just, if your a melee fighter, the caltrops are insanely infuriating. That, and the bosses have an insane duration stun grenade that can have squishies stunned for about 30-40 seconds. Which is LONG. And they crit from stealth, which can be immensely punishing.

Most of the carnies I don't mind taking on with my DB/SR scrapper, with Practice Brawler I laugh at their attempts at trying to hold me (as long as I trigger PB in time...), and with Focused Fighting and Evasion, I dodge pretty much all their attacks including the end drain when they die.

I say most however as Master Illusionists are a royal pain, as with them spawning their pet Illusionists and Dark Servants, it can make it a rather hectic fight....I tend to cringe whenever I run into them.

I would still rather fight them then Malta any day of the week.....hate....sappers.....

Never one to care about technical game mechanics, they are bursting with style and theatricality. For that reason, I like engaging them. So much more compelling than mobs. :-)

I love Carnies. They are nice and squishy. Really they are a blast to fight for me. Oddly enough, my /SR scrapper does not have the same hate of sappers either. They are annoying, but only slightly so. The guy with the tripod is a worse threat for me.

Someone already mentioned this, but I just wanted to reinforce that Carnies are a cake walk for any team with a Mind or Illusion Controller who knows his role. It turns out Master Illusionists are Masterminds. When you confuse them, they direct their pets to attack themselves. And since one of the first powers a summoned Illusionist uses is Flash (AoE hold) the entire spawn gets locked down just from you confusing that one mob.

I really do hate fighting Knives or Artemis, and Rularuu has destroyed me more than a few times. But the group I especially avoid are those witches in Croatoa (the Coven?) with Lightning Blast and Storm Summoning sets. I know how it feels to miss my blue bar.

I don't mind fighting Carnies, but when the bosses make themselves intangible, I rage hard.

Though it is amusing to see one of the witches get slapped around by her own T-storm as well.

Why fight Carnies? Because it's almost like Widows were made specifically for them - mez resistance and mez protection to take care of the stacked holds from Illusionists, easily softcapped defense for all of the varying attacks plus psi resistance for the non-positional psi, dealing lethal damage that they're weak to, and if you go Fort you can even have them as pets, too! At that point, why fight anything else?

The only thing I don't like about them is their phasing. Other than that they are pretty much tissue paper to most of my characters.

Because I like punching women and hearing them scream before they hit the floor?

OK, that was just wrong, I do because I like punching clowns.

My katana/fire slices them to bits and Fiery Embrace + Burn is the lolz for their HP as an alpha attack

Well done.
I have a 50 in every AT, but Scrappers and Dominators are my favorites.

For the drops and the mission completion bonus, duh.

But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

My Katana/Dark Scrapper loves them. I resist their end drains and they very much don't resist my sword.

Because sometimes, after all the mirror-Phalanx antics, the global conspiracies, the all-out war with the aliens, and all the other world shattering epic level events, sometimes it's just nice to beat on people with horrible fashion sense.

...but even then, after a mission or two of Illusionists and their tedious phasing habits, I'm ready for Malta again.

Katana/Willpower. Because I don't really have to pay attention while fighting them, and sometimes that's nice after dealing with Archanos throwing everything at me at once.

Robots/Dark. Because they're in my way. As is everything, actually. Seriously, nothing is bothersome for the Robots/Dark.

Everyone else?

Because between Carnies and Knives, I choose Carnies. I always, always, always, choose Carnies.

I love fighting Carnies. Just something about the twisted circus aspect always intrigued me.

Reading this thread got me to thinking though.

Where are the KOA in this game?

I've been around since Issue 4 and I think I've seen a grand total of 3...

Are they only in specific missions at 40+?
I haven't teamed much past that point, as my Heroes were always more soloable by then. Maybe I just missed the arcs or something.

Malta as well are sorely under represented. The 1st place I saw them was in the alleys of PI.
To this day it's the only place I've seen them.

Price I pay to be a soloer I suppose.

There are several all-KoA missions, mostly given from a few specific 40+ contacts. Malta has entire arcs that are primarily dedicated to them. Do the Indigo and Crimson arcs and you'll see enough of both to last a lifetime.

Which is fairly impressive, considering their flavor text mentions that there should only be around 100 individuals in their membership. I totally want a defeat badge with descriptive text along the lines of "You're pretty sure you've sent every Knife of Artemis to prison at least once."

That's it for me, as well.

I don't care so much about how difficult they are, what I care about is that they look awesome. Fighting them is better than fighting yet another paramilitary mob with guns.
