Why fight Carnies?
I'm truly interested in knowing who likes to fight them, and why? In my opinion, there are so many other better and less annoying mobs to fight, so why fight these guys? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything like that, I'm just genuinely interested is all.

My Magic Claws/Regen scrapper loves to fight Carnies.
I keep hoping that after a certain number that you defeat, you unlock their corsets as costume parts.

Me, I enjoy a challenge...BUT, having said that I will shamefacedly admit that when leading PuGs, if a Carnie mish is on the menu, I WILL lower the difficulty one notch.
Much more fun, much less frustrating.
I have a few characters that fight carnies, they don't resist anything it seems, even my inv/axe tanker takes a heck of a chunk of their life away in a single hit

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
I don't mind the carnies so much, they're not all that resistant to lathal, except the strongmen of course. On my plant dom I love hitting the decoys and other pets with seeds of confusion. That Psy damage really kills sometimes though.
They are fun to fight, especially the illusionists whom you have to time your attacks against.
Honestly, to show off. Electric Armor's ability to shrug off any attempt to influence their Endurance eliminates one of their nastiest tricks for my main character, and her ability to put up with the rest of the ugliness they dish out just makes me feel awesome.
I usually fight 'em at x8/+1, sometimes +2 if I'm feeling brave. Boses always disabled though, unless I dial them down to x5/-1 or so.

Because they're one of the few groups at their level that not only do not resist Lethal damage but are actually vulnerable to it.
If you have tools for dealing with their endurance drain (defense, carrying blues, end drain protection in a set, staying at range, and probably some others I can't think of right now) and their mezzes (defense, carrying break frees, being a blaster able to fire while mezzed, being a mastermind with pets to soak the mezzes, having mez protection, mezzing them first, and probably some others I can't think of right now), they're one of the easier groups to fight. Personally, on most characters, I'd much rather face Carnies than Malta or high-level (all-tank) Crey, and on many, I'd rather face Carnies than Arachnos. Those parentheticals should indicate the diversity of strategies you can use against them.

Yeah, my lethal damage characters love fighting them because of their weakness. I also don't mind fighting them on characters with good defense (or end recovery tools), as their end draining doesn't bother them. Defense also helps with the hasty debuffs the bosses and some of the lieuts can toss out.
Biggest thing I can find frustrating with them at times is their -to hit. Some of them have debuffs that can toss it out, and a Master Illusionist's Dark Servant can flatline your ability to hit right quick if you don't drop them (sometimes falling back a bit can help there).

We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
When you have lethal the Carnies melt like butter. I love them on my scrappers.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
When I first started running against Carnies I had no problems. I played ranged characters (Ill/Emp, Storm/Electrical, dark/dark, etc.) and didn't understand why everyone hated them so much. You just hold the bosses and everything is easy.
Then I finally created some melee characters and I found out why everyone hates Carnies.
Like anything in the game, once you understand their gimmicks it's not so bad. It's just that some character types don't really have the tools to deal with them. The worst is soloing something like Fire/Fire at x8, especially when you wind up with two Master Illusionists in a spawn. You can do it, the problem is that it takes forever.
However, the illusionists are a dev cheat: they can attack while phased. Everyone should play by the rules, even the NPCs.
I like them because I love the concept, and the visuals.
I've only got one 50, and she's a broadsword regen scrapper, and never had any real problems with them once I got the gist of how they operate.
For the Ring Mistresses and Master Illusionists, she goes in and hits them hard, taking them out fast before they get too fractious (usually). Headsplitter cures many ills.
I love that alt. She's spoiled me for a lot.

Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
Adore fighting them on my Night widow but then my Night Widow is a high defense and very high melee damage which means mobs of them just melt away.
Because sometimes you want to punch a clown in the face.
Seeing as there's no clowns in-game currently, Carnies fill the requirement of twisted circus.
concept, theya re a dangerous magical group, my characters tend to be magically oriented, so it makes a bit more sense than a dragon fighting malta or a bunch of steampunkers with blunderbusses and robots. and as to gg's comment, i REALLY hope they are one of the groups that dave and co are trying to bring costume elements over to players from. the corsets are nice, the boots really are good, and the masks, i have a few concepts that i could set them to use for quickly.
I find it interesting that a few people mentioned lowering the bosses to Lts, which I think is a very good idea (when solo of course).
Was doing a few tip missions last night with my Fire/SS tank on a x7/+1 diff, and while Rage+FE+Burn+Footstomp did wipe out all the minions and Lts practically simutaneously, it also meant that they ALL were going to attempt tp drain my endurance, AT THE SAME TIME. Ugh, then I had to deal with the Master Illusionist with her Ring Mistress sidekick and all their decoy phaseshifting gloryness; worst 20 minutes of my career.
You ever just complete a mission, exit it, and just let out a giant sigh? After that, I def needed a drink, hehe.
