True but returning players or players that played occasionally that have more than 12 on their home server will hit this issue.

Known issue to you, I and the Ocho! but hardly apparent to the vocal majority here.

There is a problem when people have to delete toons or switch servers to enjoy content they paid for. Not to mention I cannot access the charater slots I PAID for. Not the slots that come with the expansion, but the $9.99 for 2 slots.

But I do trust Mod 8... I mean THE OCHO... to keep us updated. He says he will.

Had to actually queu to get in Union server.... Never seen the 3 red balls before...

Can we have a another server to EU??...

I have a pre-ordered code that I can't apply to get into GR because Account Management appears to be linked to the store as well.

I left CoX last year.

*shrug* Why would I stick around after this? I spent eighteen quid that I have trouble finding spare, and ended up having to play Champions Online anyway. I'm not just unimpressed, I'd rather like my money back so I can spend it on something I can actually use.

It's really not all that bad. Make your toon on another server, then free transfer it to your home when the store is back up.

Not really a huge deal, just annoying until it's fixed.

how can you make another toon when there are only 2 EU english servers ? and if you have more than 12 slots on each your done for.

Not to be overly critical, but with the foreseen popularity of the game with the launch of Going Rogue (as indicated by the recent forum cleanup), wouldn't it have been a forethought, in addition to the free character transfer service on top of the release of a major expansion, that bolstering of the online store may have been a necessary step before launch day?

I just don't see how this slipped by the development or net opps teams.

I also always thought the implementation of purchasing characters slots (as a dependent symbiotic relationship between the online store and the database server) was poor - but perhaps there wasn't a better way to do it?

Edit: I would hate to suggest it, but perhaps there needs to be a way to prevent the "freename" exploit that goes along with free transfers. Not sure how much it hammers the online store, but suspect that two transfers per character (x) number of character (x) number of players is probably detrimental the load of the online store.

I figured out the workaround as well, but it's still frustrating. Extra slots we have unlocked should be untied from the store, or they need to make the store more stable (this happens a bit too often, especially when you really want those slots... this is the 4th or 5th time I haven't been able to use a newly unlocked slot due to the store being down, and I have long stretches where I don't play). I know that's probably tough, but my account knew I had access to GR after putting in the code, but my extra two slots were nowhere to be seen. Something in there is not tied to the store, and it would be nice if slots weren't as well.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up, Ocho. Hope it happens sooner rather than later.

Perhaps that's what they've been doing for the past months, or longer. It's not like this is the first time the online store has gone down, and I'm sure they're doing more than just hitting the reset button each time.

Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Am I the only one that expected launch day trouble? Yeah I would love to be able to make a new toon to try out the new area, but this happened when i17 came out too. Just think of this as an extended beta and it's not so bad. It will get fixed. We will get our slots back. We will be able to make new toons.

Why not just get rid of the dependency altogether? I agree with Obsidius and I've seen it suggested before but possibly never acknowledged.

Our toons beyond the 12th slot don't go away so why not lock them in once they've been claimed. Tie a hidden name to it, whatever needs to be done, do it.

And hindsight is ... well hindsight but this isn't the first time around with this issue.

Doing that would severely minimize the impact seen with those with over 12 toons on a server. At that point it'd only be the folks with slots they can't claim that'd be **** out of luck but that shouldn't even have to be tied to the online store. It has been paid for already, move that information into the game database.

Also don't Delete any toons right now while the Store is down, you will lose the slot, I just lost one on Freedom when I deleted a toon.

Exactly. Slots cannot be removed once claimed, and cannot be transfered to other servers once claimed. Yet, they're still tied to the online store even after purchase. This seems like a fundamental design flaw IMPO, one I feel should have been corrected some time ago when we first saw this happen when the Online Store went offline.

<Insert obligatory Offline Store joke here>

I mean, it's not like I lose my character's new name when I purchase a rename and the Online Store goes offline after the fact, right?
