GameStop Canada SUCKS
Fortunately for me, I pre-purchased online. But a fellow Canadian in my SG reports that no local stores of any kind (Gamestop, BestBuy, Future Shop, etc) have the GR boxes available.
I will do a check myself this week to see if thats true. I suspect this is the same situation as when GvE launched, where the boxes won't show up in Canadian stores for weeks or months after they do in the US.
If that does turn out to be the case, it is pretty sad for a game being lead by a Canadian at the moment.

On June 30th I went to my local GameStop store. I put down a $40 deposit ($44.99 Canadian, not including tax) (Gamestop.ca product page). So silly me, I went to the store this morning expecting to get my Going Rogue box and goodies. I was politely told that "I don't know what happened, but we got a memo that shipments all across Canada have been delayed. It more than likely means that the vendor didn't produce enough product or that it got held up at the border."
They had my phone number, but didn't even bother to let me know that there was a delay. Thanks a lot. |

Sadly, as far as Canadian branches of GameStop/EBGames go, this is not entirely unexpected. Unless it's a big ticket game (Starcraft 2, for example) the company cannot be bothered to try to get the game across Canada for release. I honestly have no idea why I continue to do business with them.

Which is kind of odd because they have the AE edition. Maybe that is why.

Local GameStop here in the States called me the night prior to launch to remind me of my pre order. I went after work to pick it up, they had none on display and went into the back room. Eventually the lady returned with the box and no mousepad or whatever it was supposed to be, they got NONE of them.
Rings me up, and I look for my code on the little print out receipt.. no code for the "goodies". She calls another store, they can't help her, she calls some sort of support phone number and gets put on hold.
After 45 minutes of waiting they finally hook me up (this required a total shut down and re-boot of their computers in the middle of a busy mall store with at least 25 customers there).
Meh.
i have no sympathy for people who go there and end up getting screwed because the alternatives are common knowledge.

Enjoying my NCSoft pre-purchase goodness sure, but an actual physical box to buy? Guess I wanted to weigh in with my two cents: I have no sympathy for people who have no knowledge of what my theoretical alternatives are.

Sounds like GameStops in Canada suffers from rectal cranial inversion. I feel for you guys. My GameStop experience in California went swimmingly, but the manager is my good friends and fellow CoH player (he's also turned a few stores around financially). Frankly, if not for him, I might have just ordered it off the NCStore.
If GameStop is using UPS for freight between the US and CA, I can attest to their horrible Customs procedures. Things that normally take a day or two to move through Customs with other bulk carriers take up to a week with UPS, IMPE.
I just noticed that this thread got moved to the Technical Issues and Bugs section. This is inducing a "What?!?!?" moment. It isn't something that can be fixed by other players, and while it deserves redname attention, I doubt that any of the technical staff can do anything about this either. The groups that can do something about this are either the Customer Relations Team or the Marketing team. Even then, their options are limited.
It is their retail partner that is the offender in this situation, not the game itself.

I really hope tomorrow brings good news for us. I have no problem buying it from NCSoft, but I really wanted a physical copy of it. My most current CoX disc is CoV.
Searching through pages of the GR forums for this thread had me questioning my sanity.
I am supposed to get a call tomorrow from EB if the game comes in....called today and a girl stated that it is an issue with the vendor....she was the first person all week who said anything other than "call tomorrow".....she also knew the game...everyone else said "What?"...I asked for the new City Of Heroes game and she said "Oh..Going Rogue"...
She apologized but stated that it is out of their hands and it must really suck to have pre ordered and not recieved anything...
As far as an alternative for the box...there is none....I live 2 hours from a Best Buy...Future Shop...Wal Mart...Game Stop (I know EB is the same and my EB is a half hour away)....I called them all in Halifax and there are none...
I could have bought it online but I collect the boxes...I have the COH Retail, COH COllector's Edition, COV Pre Order, COV Retail, COV Collector's, Good vs Evil Walmart Exclusive cover, Good vs Evil everyone else cover, COH Game Card,. COV Game Card and The Architect box....hell I even have a plaync game card box...
The pre order goodies are not a big deal...but the box is to me...

... actually, 20th sounds about right for their usual "shipping delay" to Canada. Nearest as I can figure, (this is all guesswork) their main distribution centers are in the us, and rely heavily on UPS. I doubt their distribution model takes into account customs. So while everything is sent out at the same time, customs results in it reaching stores in Canada a bit later. It is likely possible that they could - either through better planning, or spending a little more $$ on shipping - get things to arrive here on time. But unless the merchandise is a big hyped money maker (SC2), they cannot be bothered to make the effort.

Their main distribution centre in Canada is in Brampton, Ontario. Most within Canada should be shipping from 8995 Airport Rd. I worked in the building next-door, but we moved, and they took that building over, as well.

Well I called and still nothing....this time they told me that no one knows when the game will come but it has been delayed....she said that they do not have a reason and are sorry...
I am at a loss...I just want my damn game that is 3 days late and that I pre-ordered in April....is that really so much to ask....

I just stopped by my local EB this morning and was told that I should check back on Tuesday. The fella gave me the usual runabout about how I should check with the developer's website and assumes everything just got stuck in customs. I'm not sure I particularly buy that, but I'm allowing myself to remain deluded enough to maintain hope.
I've already put all my money down like a lot of other people. I guess now the option is either to be patient and wait for things to come in, or just buy the downloadable version to hop right into things and end up paying twice.

Same issue for me. In fact, I called their customer support number on the morning of the 17th (after I had not received my preorder bonus code on the day they said they'd email it), and the person who I spoke to seemed to really have no idea what was going on, had to track down three or for separate SKU numbers, and was generally really confused as to anything to do with it. Finally, after about half an hour on the phone, I was told it should be shipping on the 20th and that preorder codes would happen some time around when they shipped it.
Has anyone called them today and gotten any new information? I called this morning and was given the run around before being told the exact same thing.
They just told me that they did not know how long the delay could be this morning....so I am cancelling my pre order....putting the money on NHL 11's pre order....and I bought Going Rogue today off of eBay from an American seller...I am playing it right now...

Don't forget to tell them why you're canceling your pre-order. Follow up with a letter.
Gamestop, as I understand it, is run by the regional managers. If the regional managers aren't doing their job by making sure customers are properly treated, Gamestop needs to know; the only way to do that is to document it with a letter.
I had pre-ordered the complete collection from the Gamestop.ca as soon as I saw that it had shown up on the Canadian store with the pre-order bonus, so about mid-July. Unsurprisingly, I'm in the same boat as you guys who pre-ordered it from a brick and mortar Gamestop/EBGames in Canada.
The lack of communication and the lack of an answer from the both times I've called Gamestop have been very frustrating. As of right now, the Gamestop.ca page for Going Rogue still lists it as shipping today, but I really doubt that'll actually happen.
I understand that this isn't necessarily Paragon Studios' or NCSoft's fault, but seeing as how they partnered with Gamestop on this promotion, I think many of us would really appreciate something from them on this issue. Even a "we're looking into it" message would be great.

I dropped a PM to Avatea and War Witch about this. I tried sending one to Black Pebble, being the only Marketing Guy the forums have seen that I can recall, but he seems to have his PMs turned off.
Guess we'll see if anything comes of it. I agree that even a "This is weird, we'll check it out" note would be nice. Obviously, the development team and community reps aren't responsible for shipping and distribution, so nobody holds them accountable for this messup.

Just got back from EBGames where I was told the date on the website has now been changed to the 23rd. Stuck me as odd that they'd say on Friday that it would be available on Monday. The guy at the desk also read me an email sent out to all stores saying the shipment is stuck at the borders. I guess they're just trying to give us some excuse.

Didn't have a chance yesterday, but today at lunchtime, I ran out to Best Buy and picked up a copy off the shelf . . . for $10 off the cover price -- it is on sale this week. This is for my second account, as I did the pre-purchase for the first account.
