Welcome !!!
Welcome to a great game and to the best MMO community anywhere! -
"Bubble Guns" is my FF/Dual Pistols Defender, and she's a total blast to play. It's a fun combo IMHO.
-
I have to say, this tiny little bug gives me something like road rage. I don't know why, but it actually starts to piss me off! LOL
-
I too want to thank the Devs and give them a big thumbs up. As an old fart who's been playing MMORPGS for many years, this is a MINOR bug compared to some of the totally horrid launches for games/expansions/etc.
We'll live, it's not a big deal. PITA? yes. Again, we'll live.
Thanks again Dev team, and thanks to the best MMORPG game community for being as cool about it as you are. -
If he's smart he never tells anyone. I've never been one to give a crap about someone being "famous" but there's too many crazies in this world (even in our great community) for him to risk letting himself be known. He'd open the door to having ZERO fun and being stalked.
I wish him the same as anyone else who plays: to have fun and not act like people from the WoW community. -
It's actually shocking to go back to other game forms (that I used to play/post on) and read them after being back here in CoH for several months.
Dear Lord I don't miss the garbage, slop, filth, crap, whatever... that literally fills other game forums and in-game community.
I love this game. -
*points to the top of your web browser*
City of Heroes, that's the game I play.
CoH
go to google and search COH and COX... see which search finds this game first -
I was born in the 60's and grew up on comics. I honestly don't read them regularly any more but I'm a huge fan of the medium.
Listen to what the others have suggested, they are right on target. As someone who's been playing MMORPGS and gaming from back in the day of 300 baud modems and local BBS games... this is indeed one of the best communities of any current MMORPG.
Make the effort, you'll find the right people to spend time with and you won't regret it. CoH is an amazing game played by a pretty damn cool group of people. -
Don't hate me, I really didn't like it. I couldn't finish watching it.
To me, it felt like they knew it wasn't good so they then decided to play up the "camp" to hide the lack of overall quality in script/production/acting.

Best of luck! Bettering things for you and your family is good! Thanks for the work you did!
-
Best wishes in whatever you do next.
Merry Christmas and thanks for your work to make this such a great game. -
Merry Christmas and Happy New year from a guy that was here when the game launched and left for years and came back just this summer. I'm wishing I never left, ya'll have done an amazing job, this is a fantastic game and you should all be very happy with yourselves!
Happy Holidays! -
Quote:2 different things there. If the iPad were only an ebook reader, the price comparison might have a point. However it is not, so the comparison isn't valid.
I will certainly admit the iPad isn't a full fledged computer in a lot of ways, but it is far more than just a reader.
My opinion is that it's a flashy paperweight. Based on multiple factors (and yes there's hyperbole in there).
The OP, if I remember correctly indicated that a primary use would be as an Ebook reader. There are better (IMHO) Ebook readers on the market for a FAR lower price point.
Yes, the iPad is more than an Ebook reader. -
No flash, must have a web connected PC to even turn it on, proprietary as hell... it's a flashy paperweight. On top of that there are better Ebook readers on the market for 1/4 of the cost.
IMHO

Ooops! Sorry! I thought you asked for Increase Density. What's Speed Boost?
-
My mind/kin is my favorite character. I've only run into 1 person hounding me for speed boost constantly. I try and keep it on people but I'm not going to make myself crazy doing it.
Now I've had way more people tell me to NOT put it on them because they hate running into crap all the time... with them I can agree. -
Even with very detailed meters that cover all forms of damage and support numbers... you'll have an Earth shattering amount of Epeen-waving and judgment rain down upon the community. You must understand that the lowest common denominator (in this case, the Epeen folks) will dominate the community in game and on the forums.
Then, the people that just play (and never read the forums and such) will start to see in chat and teams that #### is the minimum for this or that. This is terribly demoralizing and will have a very negative impact on teaming, and will also lead to people quitting the game in disgust because their (insert archetype) isn't doing as much as so-in-so's character does. Seriously, this is a very bad thing.
Understand that the non-Epeen people have been playing and steam-rolling things just like always, but suddenly with meters in the game they will not be contributing enough and will be called out. Soon people will be yelled at in random teams because they couldn't steamroll (insert TF) in X number of minutes and it's all because the tank didn't do enough DPS or the Defender didn't "heal" enough. Again, this is a very bad thing. -
My first "main" was an Ice/Elec blaster. I love his name, costume, concept ... I think he was level 40 when I left CoH with friends for other games... when I came back I just could not get into the blaster. He's in his mid 40's now and I've leveled 2 characters to 50... but he sits. I simply can not (even after respecs) get into playing the character no matter how hard I try.
-
Quote:My experience in other games: you have a "support character", soon everyone knows how much dps your archetype should be able to do while "supporting". (this goes for tanks too)While I agree that a DPS meter would not be particularly useful in this game I really have to question the assumptions made in this post. You're basically assuming that teams would pass on buffers/debuffers due to them not having "optimal" DPS. While it is true that their DPS is lower I think most players realize that the buffs/debuffs they bring more than outweigh their lower base damage.
I can believe that people would discriminate between characters of the same AT based on DPS but I have a hard time they'd drop a defender for a blaster because the blaster does more DPS.
Soon, there are community agreed upon dps standards that everyone is judged on (no matter what type of character one plays) and the numbers go higher and higher into retarded numbers. Believe me, it can ruin games for a lot of people. -
Damage style meters were horrible things added to other MMORPGs. I've been back for a few months and I'd leave and never return if they added them to the game. Simple as that.
-
There are indeed some with that message, but clearly there are others that realize the rest of us are simply fools or idiots, or both.
-
I'm casual, I scan the forums a little, I got the slot on my "main" I have an idea of what's next, but I'll need to take some time and research exactly what I need to collect and where to get them... the info in game is not crystal clear "Mr. Obvious" type stuff. It's easy to understand how people don't know what to do. I think this has all been pretty sloppy, lazy, and poorly thought out by the game designers.
-
I'm very casual. I started CoH at the end/Open Beta... played for a bit with friends and left with friends to many different games. I came back by myself this summer.
I have 2 level 50's, one which I do not really play.
My main is a Mind/Kin/Psi controller with zero purples. I've not even done all TFs with my main (hasn't been 50 all that long either).
With very little info about this new mission series I headed in. Trapdoor (whatever his name is, the very first EB) was easy for me, I died once from being stupid then took him out easy without the whole lava thing... which I didn't know about or think of.
I got to the Honoree room easily and knew that portals are bad, so I took them out and cleaned up the little bit of Rikti mess. I pulled the first EB and took him out pretty handily and then got ready for Honoree. I think I died 4 times (always re stocking on inspirations) and I simply could not dent his health. IF... IF... If... if the solution is to somehow engage him and scratch his health pool and run away, and go back and scratch him and run, and so on for ever and ever... I guess it's possible I could take him, but I'm not sure.
On my main, I can and have taken out level 50 EB's in solo missions... challenging and fun enough... this encounter sucks for me. I'll auto complete it again, if I ever do it again.
Sure, maybe I suck that bad, but it sure seemed impossible for me to do any real damage to Honoree at all.
All the elites here that have done this encounter four hundred times with new 50's zero IO can make sure to put me on your "no group" list, because I clearly suck and would hate to spoil your fun by ever grouping with someone as skilled as you are.
