I am having the same problem since the server maintenance shutdown this morning.
Same issue for me. Tried two accounts and no dice. Wife gets in just fine on her laptop. Guess I'll go try another computer.

Restarted PC. Started COH and it automatically applied patch again. Works now.
After second restart got an Auto Patch... I'm in now.. Thanks!

The Reboot is the key.
I patched and got the error.
Tried closing out of the game and opening patcher several times and it didn't repatch.
Then I rebooted and it finally pulled down another patch and I'm in.
When I went to shut down I got an error stating there was a process stopping the shutdown, but it closed it out after about 10 seconds. My guess is the game is leaving a hung process so if anyone still has the issue and has good tech skills they could probably identify it, or for the less technical minded... just reboot and if hangs tell the computer to shutdown anyway.
No patch. Re-launch, re-boot even and nothing no patch same error no matter what.
I restarted my client 2 or three times before I got the patch download. Been able to get on every time since then.

that jarred the nuts lose and they rolled to the right squirrel and game loaded new patch that too fooorever to load up
took note off calender to kick dev in balls at e-3 in June --but saved post-it note might need later the way things have been going
Had to start and quit CoH and then restart my computer 3 times before it finally decided there was a patch to download.
So yeah, I got it to work eventually. But seems like there's something that still needs fixing here.
OK, I think it was my 3rd re-boot of my PC to get the patch to start...

Same thing here; verifying files didn't force it either.
Repaired my connection and reloaded game, patch downloaded and applied immediately. Don't have another computer to try an ipconfig/release /renew on to see if the same thing would happen.

I'm having the same problem.
It started after I logged out to switch characters. I had a download happen when I logged in the first time. After I logged out I had a second download occur. I got past the login server, but got the "no response from this server" message when I selected my world server.
I reverified. I've flushed my DNS. Both did not solve the problem.
Now I'm about to reboot to see if that fixes anything.
Update: Rebooting and revalidating has not solved the problem.

I'm having the same issue with all servers also!! I've even gone as far as reinstalling. Any help?
Patch just went through. Checking to see if this fixes it... Please say yes, please say yes... c'mon!!!!
I been at this from right after the servers went down. I got in for a few, then I had to log couldn't get back in for 20 mins then got in. I had to go again and now it's been half hour and STILL can't get the stupid freaking servers to let me in. Be REALLY nice if someone like a GM or DEV tell us what's going on? I mean they haven't even put up a single notice about it, TWO Seconds all it takes for someone to say something. Instead of me and others thinking our games are screwed up when in fact it's not our end but theirs! Cause hunting this down in the forums wasn't fun either!
