I know this isn't really a solution, but if you want to join in the fun in Praetoria, you could always get a trial account and just make a temp avatar for the next couple of days to take in the experience of the launch.

Sorry to hear that Snow Globe. I had a similar experience with my local Game Stop (US not CAN) when CoH first went live. I swore I would never buy a physical box again, and so far I have not.

a conversation with a gamestop canada store stated it may be more than just a delay. a reference to a memo there suggested that they won't carry a box and will limit sales to dlc.
how that may ultimately work remains to be seen.
no other chains appear to be carrying it, or at least claim to have it even listed in their system.
/certainly far from exhaustive, but there (potentially) goes waiting around for cut rate retail later on.

I was at a EB in TO earlier. They had it listed in their system but had no idea when they were getting it.
Way to many alts.
I spent the last 8 hours filing and shredding documents at work. The only thing that kept me going today was knowing that GR would be waiting for me at EBGames when I got home. Oops. The guys at the counter looked at me as though I were crazy, checked their system and told me it comes out on the 20th, not the 17th.
I really hope this is true, as opposed to spice_weasel's source. At least I know it's not just my store.

I am disappointed that they had no idea what was going and my nearest EB is an hour away...so it is something that I want to make sure is coming in before I travel that far...
If I would have known this I would have got one off of eBay or something as I collect the boxes...

Sadly, as far as Canadian branches of GameStop/EBGames go, this is not entirely unexpected. Unless it's a big ticket game (Starcraft 2, for example) the company cannot be bothered to try to get the game across Canada for release. I honestly have no idea why I continue to do business with them.

I think the part that surprises me the most is the complete lack of any statement from Paragon Studios marketing division...

That doesn't surprise me at all. It's not the fault of Paragon. For the rest of the continent it was released on the appropriate day. This is an issue with Gamestop. Although, I hope this issue as well as the issue with some American customers no receiving their pre-order goodies makes Paragon think twice before giving exclusive pre-order deals.

Ncsoft/ParagonStudios just needs to stop doing exclusive deals in general, not just with gamestop... Anyone else recall the whole GvE Walmart debacle? Only available at walmart... in the US. Those last three words? Never mentioned.

Waltzed in there myself this morning with no more luck than my fellow Canuckleheads. At least there's some hope - I was given the same date of the 20th as the date they should have it instore.
I'da been PISSED were I in your shoes, guys. In fact, I would have probably requested my money back, said screw that, and bought the game online.
This crap about the 20th sounds sketchy to me, considering the oficial launch date everywhere, as far as I know, was the 17th.
I would be very suspect about them changing the date for what looks like no reason. I hope they aren't giving you guys the run around.

But unless the merchandise is a big hyped money maker (SC2), they cannot be bothered to make the effort.

im sure they had 600 copies of madden 11 in stock...
gamestop is basically only good for finding used console games cheap(and even then there are better alternatives online). in this day and age, there is no reason to be patronizing them, especially when most games are cheaper online or in big box stores. i have no sympathy for people who go there and end up getting screwed because the alternatives are common knowledge.
EBGames and Gamestop are the exact same company, as of last year I think. Also, I am in the states, and my wife's physical copy is finally coming today at some point.
