Getting hyped up for GR
I'm right there with you. If I've been in the Beta, then when we get close to the release of a new Issue, I end up so exicited I just can't play. I have to go find other things to do while I wait.
These next 5 days are gonna KILL me. x_x

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:

I'm filled with an incredibly awesome sense of meh....
I'll be on to start moving my villains out of that cesspit, and start grinding out hero/villain merit loot (i.e. what I'm doing now). I wish there were some more content in this expansion for existing characters.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Anyway, I'm about as excited as I ever get over this kind of thing, but I'm even happier to see someone else is excited. Reading the boards and listening in in-game, player morale seems to be at an all-time low. You'd think the game was being shut down next week, not having its first expansion in years released.

I just can't understand this jaded attitude. That's probably partly because I don't like loot, am perfectly happy with either side of the game, and want a break from playing my 50's, but why do I seem to be the only one like this? How did the player base suddenly shift to be focused so intently on end game content when it seemed to be of only moderate interest to so many people up until about a month ago?

I'm going to side-switch my villains and then run tips to grind loot for my heroes while waiting to see if the devs fulfill their promise to make Issue 19 about existing players and not asking us to pay to help them chase newbies.

I am psyched myself! I still unfortunately have characters I need to prepare for going rogue. And new stories I am planning on telling with my Praetorians. In fact... I gotta log in NOW!

Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!
I am experiencing Excitement and Dread in equal measure.
Electric Control, new characters, new plans, juggling characters, new content, bringing characters to the other side, free server transfers for 1 server path ... all good stuff.
But on the down side I have 17 characters to cross over, and while they are on different accounts, that is a LOT of work. And anytime a game seems like work, well ... woof. missions + 9 tip missions + alignment mission + more missions + 9 tip missions + alignment mission = WOOF. Then multiply it by 17, or at least by 6 or 7 (assuming I do some multiboxing).
Jeez!
Also, I have a personal obligation to myself to have every Storm controller at level 50, but I hated the interaction of Electric Control and Storm Summoning. So that's a character I "have" to slog through. Meh.

Thankfully, I'm not too jazzed about Incarnates. I mean, I'll use it, but we haven't heard enough about the full system, and all the content to go with it, for me to be drooling for the next issue to start. Yet.
I'm always hyped for any new Issue - so GR is like extra hype

I've a bunch of new characters that I've been waiting to make for GR, so yes I'm pretty hyped up.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
Thanks to the market merge, I don't have to cross over any characters.
At least five new characters to make, though.
I'll also see about trying out the new Maria Jenkins arc.
There's no content in this expansion I really care about. That's not jaded, it's just a statement of fact. I despise playing the pre-20 game and the vast majority of the new content is pre-20.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

The only question is...
Calvin Scott
Emperor Cole
or the Cockroach Empire...
To whom are you loyal?

Calvin's a little on the extreme side, so I'll stick with the Wardens

I honestly think what I'm most excited about is the fact that this will provide CoH with a shelf presence after so long...
I would love to see an influx of new players... that's what I'm hyped for.
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

My excitement over the release of GR is moderated significantly by miserable goings-on in my life, so the net effect is "survive this weekend, then things are gonna be ******* AWESOME." Going Rogue was a guaranteed must-buy for me the second they announced side switching, so everything else has been a wonderful treat on top.

But the generic EU rant aside I am really looking forward to Going Rogue!!
From an original list of two new characters to roll I know have ten, which includes some retconning of some existing ones.
I'm looking forward to the new missions in Praetoria, the new powersets, and side switching to various degrees with about a dozen characters. I'm also looking forward to working towards some of the HAMs and VAMs

I think it should be a lot of fun

Well, part one is that you're mistaking a handful of upset people on the boards for "the playerbase". And secondly, people upset or with an ax to grind tend to post more and post more vehemently on message boards than people who are happy with what's going on. They post a lot and are "louder" about it, so it often makes certain groups appear more numerous than they really are.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I plan on cleaning out my toons on my home server using the free transfers and starting a massive amount of new ones. Probably wont create any of the new sets due to well...but there are plenty of other combos i wish to try so im excited
EvilGeko points out: I think there's a corollary mistake in assuming the opposite. Most dissatisfied people don't bother to complain. They just walk away. |

Its not unusual for me to be really excited for a new CoH issue, but i18 and GR have got me so excited, I just can't wait and only a week to go!
I think its partly due to the snazzy new world, the new contacts and missions, the new enemy groups and the new features like combat aura options for every pre-existing aura and changing factions with some of my old characters. Or its finally being able to play the new characters I'm going to make for GR. The ones with their names and costumes saved, mids build completed and a load of enhancements already stored in the SG base.
But I think what I'm most excited about is that new expansion and new zone feel as Praetoria becomes fully populated with hundreds of lowbies.
Can't wait!
